Half of Twitter would have heard the announcers say who it was. So if they thought it was Becky when the name was said and repeated, it’s hardly aew fault. It’s nitpicking for nitpicking sake that this is getting so much focus from this debut show

As the old saying goes, they don't remember the matches. It's because it was the closing angle and confusing. Don't get me wrong I'm with you. It doesn't hurt the show in my view but also in a world where the entire fan base thinks they know how a show should be booked I can see why they got hung up on it.

I enjoyed it. The commentary was crap but WWE conditioned me a long time ago to ignore it. It's only really stark because other than JR 75% of the time all 3 of their other shows have great commentary.

At first I was against Christian winning but it gives Kenny SO much more potential character development as a heel buy also when you think about it Page winning isn't about overcoming Kenny. It's about overcoming his own insecurities by winning the big one.

Britt is superb. No idea why they didn't book her against a heel though. The crowd was so pro Baker that it felt like it hurt Red Velvet.

I'd also like orange ropes. Just to set it apart a bit.

No idea why folk want to rush Miro into a programme. He could murder fools every week in 5 mins for another year solid and he'd be no less entertaining or frightening.

  2. My first gig is Lebrock on Sept 3rd. Can't wait but even if I'm fully vaxed the covid thing is still making me nervous. My last gig was Monster Magnet back in Jan 2019. Way too long for my liking. I only do about 4 to 6 a year typically but damn did I miss them when we couldn't do it.

  3. Forgot about What If will give that a crack later.

Watched The Long Halloween part 2 yesterday. Love the animation a lot but wasn't as compelled as I thought I would be from the first part. I think it probably would have been better as a tighter 2 hour film than 2 separate 70 minutes. Still the animation is wonderful.

  4. Just read that Dynamite did 1.1 mil this week. Well deserved. That show was so good I watched all but the opener again this afternoon. My word the Elite are a glorious bunch of bell ends aren't they?

I genuinely got a bit choked up when Grayson and Uno held back the DO and the Bucks murdered a helpless cowboy. Until they announce something else I'm going to assume Meltzer is being worked about the All Out main event. I maybe wrong of course but doesn't Omega vs Christian feel like a good main event for the first episode of Rampage rather than All Out.

That trios tag was awesome. Kingston got a wonderful reaction that really warmed my hangover soul. All three of them are just wonderful badasses. There was a magical moment right at the start of Mox and Kingstons entrance where Kingston fist bumps and ruffles the hair of a little kid with a beaming smile. My word does Darby feel as over as any of them even Sting.

It's absolutely bizarre that WWE seem to have little to no idea how to use a legend to build current talent. At this point it almost feels like Sting is getting the rub from Darby he's so over.

Miro is so great that one day I hope they release a bluray comp of him just squashing fools. The the god gimmick is marvelous because he genuinely feels like he believes it and he's so tightly wound that he's bordering on unhinged.

Some times I feel like I'm the last Cody fan. Yeah I fully agree with alot of the criticisms over the last year but for one reason or another I still like the guy and its moments like the main event which makes it worth while. A stonking main event. Black was put over like a million bucks. Brilliantly done. Imagine having Black on your roster and not knowing why you should push him? Mental. Infact I think I'm going to watch the match again.

I can't wait for next week. Rampage starting next week is a god send because I desperately need at least another hour of AEW in my life each week.

    What's wrong with Cam Clarke?

Nothing wrong with him per say, it's just nearly every character he's done since the original TMNT series has sounded like Leo or Rocksteady

Prince Adam is not a fake sounding ninja turtle.

The New Adventures Of He-Man was a weird one. I hear the rebooted series they did around 2002 on Cartoon Network was supposed to be good?

If you can get past the astonishingly bad choice of voice acting for Prince Adam then 2002 show is pretty good.

If that's the case then he really needs to work a lot harder to get the crowd behind him again.

If he really wants to be a proper face he needs to be programmed against someone the crowd don't desperately want to cheer. He's not strong right now as a face. Put him against a real heel and it wouldn't be hard to get the crowd back on his side. Trouble is there aren't many of them and Cody's already been through MJF and Spears. The Elite could do it but they are a bit busy. Might be something for Ethan Page to do maybe?

  8. Listend to Cody's Dynamite press call earlier ahead of the Black match and he swore blind that he's a 100% babyface now and hasn't got a heel bone in his body any more. I hope he sticks to that properly.

I'm off work due to it being the summer holidays and it's utterly bewildering to me just how much I'm into AEW right now. Most of my time is spent trying to distract me from the fact it isn't time for Dynamite yet. I'm fortunate that I have a back catalogue of 20 episodes of Dark & Elevation to get through but they are a bit of chore after a while without the live crowd yet.

    Rise of the Footsoldier

Watched this again as it's now on Sky Cinema.  It's the first and best of the Footsoldier movies as this one is true to the actual story compared to the others that followed.

Craig Fairbrass is fantastic at playing the role of an utter cunt.

I don't think I've ever been as angry in a cinema as I was after Rise of the Footsoldier. Irredeemable. Dread to think what the sequels are like. Aren't there something like 5 of them or something ridiculous?

I get that MOTU is more of a kid’s cartoon and toy line above all else but this series was supposed to have been aimed at older viewers who grew up watching the original series. Which is why I watched it but I wasn’t that impressed overall.

I think you are misremembering the original series. It was as much about He-Man and Skeletor as it was Orko, Man At Arms and Teela imo. The new series feels like one episode of the old series told in long form in my view but with bad ass action and animation.

  11. Spoiler

I was so pissed off when the Ark transformed in a cloud and was suddenly in bot mode. So lazy and uninteresting

Just thought of another couple of things that annoyed the piss out of me in the Netflix trilogy.

Alt modes. An alt mode should be as natural for them to use as as breathing in my book. When characters have alt modes like cars or jets etc they shouldn't be running in robot mode for any sort of distance. The logic is bizarre.

It felt obvious to me that it was to much work for the cheap ass production to have on screen transformations.

Imagine if they had just had Unicron pop behind another planet and come out the other side in robot mode it completely betrays the audience.

  12. The dialogue is badly written, voice acted/directed and very dry. Pretty much everything that hurts animation in my book. It definitely peaked with SIEGE. It would have been so much more satisfying if they hadn't cheaped out on non union voice actors.

Played a blinder on Earth Wars this weekend. Got 3* Rhinox, 4* Primal, 4* Dinobot, 4* Cheetor and 4* Laser Optimus. Fantastic result.

Really, really enjoyed it, and those incel reactions are even more baffling having seen the show. It was great.

Like my Mum being warned off the Exorcist by her Church I suspect they haven't watched it and just make their daft minds up based on incel Facebook posts etc.

Unfortunately Kevin Smith let slip that Netflix are looking at early 2022 for the send half to be released. The logic being that they don't want huge gaps between MOTU content.

I'm thinking more of Jackie's earlier films but I've seen so many I can't remember specific examples now! I think it's certainly a cultural thing, perhaps across the Far East because there's a lot of it in Japanese cinema around that time and earlier too.

Ah right yeah the Lo Wei 70s films. With the exception of Shaolin Wooden Men I've only seen JC's output once so it makes sense why it doesn't ring a bell.

Japan's mental and fascinating. Look at animation. In 1989 the UK made The BFG, Japan made Urotsukidōji: Legend of the Overfiend. (As well as many other not mental animations but still)

It's not just Sammo's films. It's commonplace in Hong Kong action films from around that time. Even Jackie's films were prone to it occasionally.

I think it must have been fairly acceptable in their culture at the time but it certainly hasn't aged well. I can't think of instances of it in JC's films (not saying they aren't there just my shoddy memory and being in denial that JC ever did anything wrong) but In practically every Sammo film I can think of there's been overt attempted sexual assaults and flippant rape threats played for laughs. Utterly bizarre. Then again you also have the CAT III films that were full of rape as well.

  16. The Millionaires' Express (1986) Hybrid Cut - I'd never seen this one but  I'm up for any classic Sammo Hung and this was a treat. I vaguely remember old trailers for this on the Hong Kong Legends DVDs but honestly I didn't even realise it was a Western.

Really fun stuff. They clearly spent a ton on this. This sets are top notch and it's got a who's who of Hong Kong actors in it. The comedy is very silly and broad which isn't for everyone but it never got annoying like in the Lucky Stars Trilogy.

The only real negative is some flippant references to sexual assault that were played for laughs which worryingly I've noticed a fair bit in Sammo's films.

The action as you'd expect is great but they only really kick off in the final act so if you're looking for constant wall to wall action you might be a bit disappointed.

There are some absolutely INSANE falls in this that rival the clock tower in Project A.

    Spoiler

Particularly Yuen Biao flipping off the top of a three story building, landing on his feet and carrying on with the scene.

The new Bluray from Eureka is superb. The restoration is phenomenal. If your a fan then its highly recommended.

  17. Looks like Dominos aren't happy about the pizza cutter spot and are considering pulling advertising. I can see why, its not exactly pleasant for a life long internet nerd. To normal folk the spot must seem insane and its the kind of thing that sponsors will cack themselves over if there is a wiff of media attention.

I enjoyed the episode a lot but that was a really weak crowd. They got the greatest hype video and entrance since X7 and yet basically they spent the majority of the show sat on their hands. Good reactions for intros then basically they would go right back to sleep.

It's a shame because with a decent crowd reaction it would have taken a decent show with some greatness to a great show with some decent stuff.

Loved the opener and liked the main event as long as its a one off myself. The Punk tease was genius.

  18. Just got done watching Kingdom and I liked it a fair bit more than Earthrise. Its still a bit of a mess with undercooked ideas and stunted dialogue but it's a bit more fun. Holy shit did they fuck up Beast Wars Megatron. His characterization is painful and the choice of casting for the voice actor is bizarre.

  19. I really liked Beast Wars but hated Beast Machines. Definitely start from the start.

I don't have much interest in Beast Wars going forward so don't collect the new toys but got a bunch first time round and they really are excellent. Particularly Primal and Megs those toys are brilliant.

I'm slowly rewatching Transformers from the start and intend to go right through every series.  It will take me an age but I fully intend to rewatch Beast Wars because whilst the animation isn't up to much the characters and plot are ace.
