  1. Really liked Shang-Chi. It has undercooked character development which is a shame. Solid B level Marvel imo.

I pretty much at least like all the MCU but the trailer for Eternals makes it look utter dogshit. I'll be happy if it's even a watchable time waster after that.

Binged all of What If..? last night. Absolutely loved it. The Doctor Strange ep was a bit dull but I had a blast with the rest. The animation is superb.

Jean-Paul Belmondo has gone too. Lots of stuff on Twitter about his stuntwork, which was unprecedented for a lot of his career, but he was a brilliant and versatile actor and star who did tons of superb films with subtitles on them, which is why hardly anyone is talking about him.

This is sheer fucking lunacy though.

Blimey that's a mad stunt what's that from?

Gutted about Williams. The Wire is easily top 3 TV dramas of all time in my book and Omar was the best thing in it for me.

  3.

    Spoiler

That was a superb show imo. A damn shame the crowd burnt themselves out before Punk but blimey I don't think they can be accused of under delivering like they did with that first Dynamite after Punks debut.

The cage match was utterly insane. I didn't want the Bucks to lose going in but my word did those pricks deserve it by the end of that match. Magical stuff

So happy Ruby Soho is Elite. She's ace and the women division really needs her. The battle Royal was a mess but it had enough good that it got a pass from me.

They missed a trick for me personally not getting the Final Countdown but I get why they didn't. Every WWE fan on the planet knows Flight of the Valkryies is Danielson's tune.

From a WWE fans perspective it looks like half the roster is jumping ship. So much fun.

Only bit that really shit the bed was the god awful guitar solo for Jericho. Absolutely loved the match though. Which is saying something because I really didn't want to sit through those two again but the dusty finish was perfect.

Oh and Minaru f'n Sazuke! Take my money. Dad Mox is wonderful. Dynamite is going to be mental.

I've seen that the show's available to order through PSN, and as none of the new-gen consoles over here have the Fite app (grrrr) I was wondering if anyone had ordered PPV through PSN before - does it come with infinite replays or a set time limit? I could just send the Fite stream from my phone to the TV instead....

I bought the first All Out on PSN thinking it would be safer than Fite. I was wrong. No feed. Missed the 1st half hour because of it and had to buy it on Fite to watch it. Since then I've always gone with Fite. It's great.

I know it's wishful thinking but Jericho's emphasis on it being his "final AEW match" has me hoping he's winding down his contract and will leave for a final WWE run. I'd love it if MJF beat him again. MJF as the  white hot heel that retired Chris Jericho moving into a feud with CM Punk would be great. His promo this week might have been his best ever. Proper nasty prick.

Not a chance IMO. It's a way to call back to how he said that he'd only work japan out of loyalty to Vince. He's 100% winning this match.

  6. It wouldn't shock me if Takara re-released a tarted up version of Unicron but I think if Hasbro bunged out another run people would loose their minds. I just couldn't afford the price tag. Wish I'd tried harder to be honest. It looks spectacular.

I'm hopeful I'll be able to get Star Sabre. Thing is I'm also getting Black Zarak if everything goes to plan so it's not going to a cheap end of the year.

Picture quality would drop multiple times on the PS4 browser for me. Been pretty much flawless on my Series S so far.

That's interesting. Mine usually starts out low quality then over the intro ramps up to full HD and stays there. Don't get me wrong though as a general rule the ps4 browser is dogshit. FITE, YouTube and Vimeo are the only things I don't get trouble with playback on it.

Nice to see Big Bubba Rogers return to the ring in that six man, I guess WWE still own the Bossman gimmick.

Might have been my favourite bit of the show that. I love those goofs as lower card Heels.

Yeah this was wasted opportunity if ever there was one. It was watchable but certainly nothing to shout about and they REALLY should have been shouting because more people than ever may well have been listening.

Fundamentally I think the main problem was pretty much everything felt inconsequential and fine. They are clearly focused on the future but if you have some stuff cooking and your not really going to do anything with that stuff that matters at least try and jump-start and heat up something else properly.

The Hayter stuff was a head scratcher. Instead of Red Velvet I'd have had one of Dark jobbers get destroyed Lance Archer style. Nothing competitive about it. Then later you can get the win over a Velvet level talent once Hayter is established. Better yet do an angle instead of having a meaningless match and get a second or god forbid third female roster fued going.

Love Tony. Punk doesn't need him anywhere near his promos though. Wasn't bad but wasn't next level. The Brian tease was fun. Darby being in the match really sucks. I mean I'm sure it will be a good match but the allegations just mean it sucks he's on TV. I get that Steve Austin feeling now which is a real bummer. I like his work, think he's good at it but really would be more comfortable if he'd just fuck off.

Miro's promo was tremendous as usual. Love that maniac.

Wouldn't have minded the main event if it wasn't the actual main event. Would quite like them to try and do something with Johnson though so if this is actually going somewhere then I'll forgive it one day.

Maybe - and I'm sure AEW will also be getting a pay bump at the next round of negotiations - but the fact remains that if you're USA/Fox then you're likely going to see this and think you're paying way over the odds for something that isn't a million miles away, and neck and neck for the most lucrative demo.

Quick check online seems to put the Smackdown deal at 205m versus 45m for Dynamite per annum? I know it's not as straightforward as those two figures probably but that's a crazy discrepancy. All WWE are giving these guys is a TV show, and now another crowd are knocking about pulling impressive numbers already for a lot cheaper.

Ultimately yes I think you're right which is exactly why I think they are seriously looking at selling now.

I look forward to hearing Big Tone a year from now say "We've learned that at our competition, Roman Reigns is going to be their new champion. Yeurgh. That'll put some butts in seats."

Seriously, though. You might think WWE aren't worried, but whoever's putting the figures on their TV deals sure as shit should be paying attention.

I dunno if they really are looking to sell, AEW being hot probably helps them more than anything. Getting numbers like that is VERY attractive.

There’s too many ex wwe names coming in at once. Give him six months to go do anything else. The balance of not being wwe lite is getting more precarious the more cast off guys brought in.

I'm with you. That makes sense. I think I would hold off too. Try and get the fiend stink off first and also give Punk and Danielson time to settle. I whole heartedly don't want AEW guys to go the back of the queue. But they have done such a good job of rotating a huge roster that I'm willing to let them be the judge. It's not like Thunder when no one ever made it to Nitro unless they were going to job.

  12. 18 minutes ago, Louch said:

Please no. Keep him the fuck away from the dark order if they do

I'll give anyone a chance, his booking was unforgivable at times but he had some wonderful flourishes. Yeah his in ring rarely ever worked but again it was pretty painful booking 90% of the time. But yeah as far as I'm concerned the Dark Order are strictly off limits unless it's a proper programme to to feed with him.

He definitely did talk about WWE. A lot. He just didn’t use those letters.

Well obviously we all knew what he was talking about but that isn't the same thing as directly saying it. It was the best way to do it with putting over everything else rather turning it into crap insider shoot. It was far more positive for the company at the same time as being amusingly passive aggressive.

@DEFdefine loads. I remember seeing Coraline, Monster House, Chicken Little, Bolt, Meet The Robinson’s and Nightmare Before Christmas. Spy Kids 3, Journey to the centre of the Earth had 3D releases. But before Avatar you had to go to Leicester Square or a big city that may have had a 3D screen.  The hype from Cameron meant Cinemas rushed to upgrade their tech, and Avatar’s box office got studios to throw out really shit 3D auto conversations to make some extra dosh

Yeah I was being a tad hyperbolic I was referring to the 30ish that had been out before Avatar. Which considering the last 3d boom was the 80s and you didn't get any in between could be considered loads. By the time Avatar came out most Cinemas had at least one screen fitted with 3D. The 2 local to me had 2 each.

  15. 27 minutes ago, johnnyboy said:

OK fair enough but there were 30 films over the 3 years before it that did everything Avatar did. I mean yes none of those films did Avatar business but it wasn't unique to Avatar is what I mean. I guess you can argue that because Avatar was do successful every screen was fitted for 3D bit I genuinely think that would happened anyway.

I mean films were already being converted to 3D the year before it even.

  16. 36 minutes ago, johnnyboy said:

Yeah, new isn't the right term, but Avatar was definitely the catalyst for the rebirth/resurgence of 3D in the Digital 3D era.

Its legacy is widely felt in the upgrade of cinema tech, manufacturers falling over themselves to get 3D TV sets on the market, and everyone and their cat either filming for 3D release or running their films through conversion processes to give it a 3D release.  But that's more the film as a tech demo, rather than as a piece of art.  The film's pony whatever it's watched on it, although it looks shit hot in IMAX 3D.

Not especially. All the screens had already been fitted with 3D before Avatar. I saw loads of real 3D before it. Don't get me wrong the best aspect of Avatar is the 3D design but it didn't do anything that wasn't already being done by others. They just did it really well.

It's the least culturally significant succesful film by a country mile.

  17. Holy shit that pop. I mean we all knew it was going to be huge but that was truly spectacular. My daughters face was tremendous when he walked out. Glorious stuff. At the end of the promo she turned to me and said 'I think CM Punk is my new favourite wrestler". Now that's a reaction right there.

His face was truly heartwarming. I was so bummed out when he left as it was quite clear WWE had crushed his love of wrestling and there is something so sad about that.

The promo was great. The fact he didn't talk about WWE was really smart and shows why he's so valuable on mic. Putting over Britt and Darby was class. It makes him even cooler and identifyable to this audience at the same time using his own cred to immediately try and help get get them over.

The ice cream was superb. WWE practically got a license to print money when he put that idea out there and they just outright ignored it. AEW works because it gives the audience what and it wants AND what it needs at the right time. Especially an audience that has been gaslit and broken by the company that should give them what they want and need.

When do ratings come in? I'm really intrigued at that. I expect Wednesday will be there biggest show to date.

Everything else was as good as I've come to expect. Jurassic Express are finally clicking for me as a team now Lucha is working as proper big man. (Obvs Jungle Boy was already tremendous) A year ago that match would have been a rushed mess of convoluted botched spots. They should be really chuffed with that.

Jade has all the potential in the world and whilst still green in the ring she has a tremendous grasp of who she is.

Mox was Mox in a cracking little 5 minuter.

If I had one sudo criticism its that I want more which is NEVER a bad thing. Brilliant stuff. Everyone needs to see this.

  18. I'm going to have trouble sleeping tonight I can tell. Seriously psyched for this. I've manged to keep quiet about Punk with my daughter. She's 11 so doesn't remember much of him being active but he was easily her favourite back in her early days.

We watched the WWE doc on him to jog her memory a couple of weeks ago. She's going to lose it when he turns up. As I've mentioned she loves AEW nearly as much as me so this is going to be something special.

Re Punk I've always really liked him. His promos and character work were always my bag. He's a good babyface but a brilliant heel. I've always thought of him as perfectly serviceable in ring but slightly overrated. But let's be honest the that's probably the least important thing about a wrestler.
