Word is Freemantle have thrown in the towel looking for a new channel and Neighbours is officially dead in August. Harold Bishop and Shane Ramsey are confirmed to be back for the finale so far.
I'm absolutely gutted.

I've just discovered Black Dresses and the new album has knocked my socks off.

Weren’t they Geezer Butler’s son’s band?
Old man moment, but all that for ÂŁ32.50, those were the days
No idea. I only saw them the once. They were pretty good fun to be fair. I've got their album somewhere.

Apartment 26 were British. My mate was friendly with them. Cracking line up that. I bet it was a belter.

Director/Producer/ Writer Ivan Reitman has passed away at age 75. Ghostbusters is a all time great. R.I.P

The same Sky account has said that they just do social media etc and have no influence on programming.Â

Oh, man. I forgot all about Dee and that ridiculous storyline with her coming back from the dead after 17 years to confront the Fake Dee who was going round pretending to be her.
Yeah that was really hard work that. I loved Dee back in the day and they completely blew the comeback.Â
Best return ever has to be the ghost of Jim Robinson appearing to Paul in a Christmas bauble.

Have I made this up, or did a female, diabetic Neighbours character nearly die by drinking neat orange squash for a dare?
I can't find anything to back this up and might be misremembering this but I think you are right. It was Danni Stark who had diabetes and I have vague memories of the orange incident. The Ramsey Street locals also saw her injecting insulin and naturally assumed she was a smack head despite the strongest drug to appear on neighbours being that brown bag of coffee at that point.

Along the same lines as Tinder Swindler I watched The Puppet Master - Hunting the Ultimate Conman last night. Absolutely terrifying that it can happen. I won't spoil anything but this dude destroys people's lives.
Also I highly recommend My Octopus Teacher on Netflix. Absolutely fascinating stuff. The creepy little watery bastards are terrifying to me but also utterly remarkable.

I didn't realise that they'd brought back so many old characters in Neighbours. Plain Jane Superbrain, Melanie who was married to Joe Mangel, Dr Clive Gibbons, Gemma Ramsay, Glen Donnelly, Amy who went out with Lance. Much like wrestling they've been relying on nostalgia too much. It's telling that the main picture on most of the news stories about Neighbours being cancelled is of Kylie and Jason who were on the show a third of a century ago.
Nah they have done a good job of building new talent not just relying on the nostalgia pop. It's more AEW than WWE.
They only one that might as well not be there is Clive Gibbo Gibbons. They have done naff all with him.
That said Toadie has been treading water for years. He peaked when he nearly died when a gust of wind threw him from a bouncy castle.
I realise I'm practically the only one still watching but the amount of times I have to sit through those adverts on the crappy 5 app should be enough to justify it's existence alone.

I had no idea that it got so much of it's funding from over here, is anyone expected to pick it up?
It's not looking good right now. It could happen but Fremantle have said there's no one right now.

Absolutely gutted to here the news Channel 5 have axed Neighbours. The current state is that their Australian partner 10 Peach are prepared to continue airing it provided they find a new UK partner. Filming tomorrow has been postponed and they are having a production meeting which doesn't sound promising. As it stands the last episode will air on Channel 5 on June 10th I believe.

Watched Raging Fire this morning. Worth the wait. Donnie Yen is pushing 60 and putting out action that rivals anyone. As an action perv I'd have liked a bit more fighty fighty fisty cuffs earlier on but when it kicks off it really kicks off.Â

@DEFÂ A good few of the films you have left are on Prime and Mubi at the moment, and a couple of them (Titane and Petite Maman) will be coming soon.
Looks like any of them that were there have been taken down from Mubi. Sparks Brothers is a 2.99 rental so I'm watching that now on Amazon. Otherwise I'm Your Man, Lapsis and The Nest are all available to rent at a reasonable price so I may rent them later. Unfortunately everything else is either home premiere prices or unavailable from the best I can tell.
EDIT - Just got a dispatch notice on Blu for Raging Fire.

I've got to give a huge thank you to you guys. Particularly Dev for this thread and his top 50. This thread has been a god send. Last Sunday I tested positive for the vid. Luckily it's just a mild case as I'm triple vaxed.
So isolation has essentially been the Best of 2021 movie marathon. I've watched 45 films in 7 days and watched every film recommended in this thread that is accessible via streaming that is at a reasonable price.
Watched from the thread either in isolation or previously....

10. Riders of Justice - A toss up between this and Another Round. I think it gets the nod because of its comedy.Â
9. Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets - Cheers in real life.
8. Pig - The best Taken film.
7. Censor - Fantastically executed horror.
6. After Love - top notch simple drama.
5. Shiva Baby - Delicious
4. 7 Prisoners - Terrifying and utterly believable.
3. All Hands on Deck - Really charming and gave me the warm and fuzzies.
2. Suicide Squad - Still loads of fun.
1. The Father - Terrifying and heart wrenching but brilliant.
To be honest they could all rotate positions on a whim. The only film I thought was a dud was Undine which was a bit of a chore.

It is so interestingly shot. Feels very claustrophobic. And the score adds to the tension and, for me, a fear of dread. But yes, I think it is defiantly a comedy drama at it's heart, I just feel its more then that. An unexpected gem that I'd only heard of as Scroobius Pip spoke highly of it in his end of the year review.Â
It is unbearably tense at times. I keep meaning to show it to my wife as I know it will make her freak.

Shiva Baby (MUBI)Â A quasi horror/drama which captivated me for the duration of its delicious 77 minute run time. A cracking debut for a 26 year old and left me wanting more. Cracking cast, really tense. Recommended.
Interesting interpretation. I saw it as a comedy/drama. Either way it's excellent.

Got a notification on Facebook yesterday that somebody I follow was livestreaming something called the "Poke the woke podcast." I followed the link for curiousity, and after abut 5 seconds knew it was exactly as crap and problematic as the name implied. Weirdly it looks like it's produced, but not presented, by a couple of people who are associated with Kevin Smith. I wouldn't have thought he'd have anything to do with those types.
I know a little about it. I subscribe to Shared Universe on YouTube. Not listened to/watched Poke the Woke but my understanding is Shared Universe is a podcast studio which is owned Ming and Mike from Comic Book Men. They are paid to produce and distribute the podcasts but don't have anything to do with the content. A pay to play type of deal. Kevin Smith has nothing to do with Shared Universe except that Mike also runs The Secret Stash shop which Kevin owns and Ming may do tech stuff him.

Listening to Scotty Too Hotty on Jericho's pod. After Hunter got the boot th 1st week the staff were told they were going back to Business wear at the PC as they had been wearing NXT track suits. The second week he comes in and is told 'Vince wants the trainers to appear younger'. They were then told to dye their beards! Absolute mental case. Now I'm reading he's naming Walter after a Nazi! Imagine having to work there.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel passed away after a collision skiing yesterday. 37 is no age.

I probably get through 3 or 4 films a week with an assist or two from the kids who mostly watch 3 or 4 different films a year twice daily. 400-500 is a strong effort! Do you still have time for tv, music, books and games etc?
I work nights and the job is mainly just being there ready to go. So we brought a PS4 and projector to keep us alert. TV shows I watch on demand these days. Music tends to be relegated to when I going to and from work. Books probably get the least look in.

I am a comic book dweeb and have always thought Morbius was proper shit. Spider-Man was cack when he was in it. Can't believe they have wasted money on it to be honest. It's not like even die hard comic nerds were clamouring for it. It looks about as bad as I expected to. The only upside is it could surprise me and be vaguely entertaining. I'd be shocked though.
