  1. Kingston is wonderful. His character has really deep self loathing in my view. Like the character presents as the hard man but really he's actually very vulnerable. It leads to him being ever so slightly unhinged and a detriment to both himself and anyone around him. Way more depth than your average upper midcarder. The thing is that the crowd really do root for him. He gets monster pops but you know that the self loathing doesn't allow his character to hear that.

And you call them "talented people." If they're indeed talented they'll find their way to a company that manages to recognise that talent and place them in their rightful position to actually play a part in generating some profit. And I'll be more than happy to see them prove WWE wrong in letting them go.

    .

Surely that's where some of this frustration comes from for fans. Even if you ignore its an utterly shitty thing to do to people when the company is making more than enough to warrant keeping them when they have a million hours of TV to book (although you shouldn't, fuck them) They clear as day have given up developing talent properly. I don't know all the names on the list as I pretty much stopped watching a year ago and stopped paying for it at all after the Ashley abuse came to light.

But 'Oweing someone a living' is utter bollocks if they are blatantly mismanaged and underutilised. As I say I've not watched but when I did the way they treated Keith Lee was utterly perplexing. But ignoring fan complaints of how talent is handled even, they are doing an utterly incompetent job of making money with the 100 odd talent they employ and have released this year.

The talents job is to do the best they can with what they are given and it's on WWE to give them something to work with and make money from. Vince's utter apathy and/or contempt for anything that he didn't think of or aligned with his narrow view of the product is actively hurting not only the onscreen product but how much the company makes.

There is no way in hell they are making as much money on NXT merch now for instance than they were three or four years ago. They are chasing the big money and getting it but at the detriment to other aspects of the business. I don't for a second think that if the company was booked well and the audience was bigger/more attracted to it then they would be getting the same money. It would thrive if they utilised all the assets they have and actually cared about the product they put out. Yes you can argue they are thriving because they are getting the most they ever have but the point is that they quite obviously get so much more. They should be doing record numbers in all aspects of the business not just the ones they get from TV rights fees and Saudi Blood money (ewww)

Case in point their declining ticket sales. Vince has gone on record as saying maybe we aren't a touring live show any more to paper over the fact there's no reason they couldn't have that money other than people don't want to pay for that product like they used to.

Kitted out in the confederate flag for pretty much their whole careers?

Ah right. Do they still do that? Seems like the type of shit nobody would want a bar of these days. I don't equate that with overt racism straight away, so much as being a fucking ignorant tone deaf arsehole. So it didn't occur to me. Now you mention it it makes sense. Certainly points to them being racist pricks.

  4. I remember the homophobia. What's the story with the Briscoes being racist was there an incident? I actually quite liked them before the homophobia. They certainly have some charisma and looked the part. Shame they are obviously prize bellends.

Haven't watched ROH in years and only really dipped in and out. Last time a checked them out was the MSG show and we all know how that went. They quiet clearly lost direction by that point. No idea if it picked up. Gutted for the roster though. That's a lot of jobs lost. Hopefully everyone gets a shot wherever is their preference.

    I look forward to Dynamitehausen.

Started a free trial. Is there anything you would consider essential or really good on Shudder whilst I have it ?

The best thing Shudder have done that I've seen is the superb documentary Black Noire: The History of Black Horror. Absolutely essential viewing imo.

The other stuff they have made themselves I've not seen much of. I binged the first season of Creepshow and it was abit to hit and miss.

It's an acquired taste but I absolutely love Raw Force. It's low budget and bonkers zombie/cannibal/kung fu masterpiece.

Pontypool is superb and doesn't get mentioned enough.

    Likewise to Prevenge.

There's actually tons of classics on there right now. Depends how much you have already seen and what you are after. There's a slew of Argento's Gialli that I would consider absolutely essential. American Werewolf in London, Phantasm, Intruder, Oldboy, It Follows, Scanners, The Raid, Hellraiser, Night of the Living Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Then there is stuff that I love but probably aren't for everyone like Blood Rage, The Mutilator, Frankienstein's Army, Terrifier, Splinter, Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key, Class of Nukem High, Madman, Death Walks At Midnight, Death Walks on High Heels, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Toxic Avenger, Slumber Party Massacre, Demons, Don't go in the Woods Alone..., Evil Aliens, Thirst, House By the Cemetery,

Also Body Melt stars Harold off Neighbours.

I'm a fan of 80's horror in that I grew up in the era. Have watched most of the big titles and remember that aisle of the video shop being a favourite to browse as a kid.

Are these documentarys watchable for a casual fan ? They clock in at 4 and half hours each which leads me to think no.

They are if you break them down yourself. Once they move on from a film there's no further discussion so you can pick up and leave them when you want. The first two are on shudder so do a free trial.

  7. New trailer for In Search of Darkness 3. The first one didn't do much for me as it was basically a greatest hits of 80s horror and didn't really tell me anything I didn't know but over a bloody long time.

The second I liked a fair bit more as it was getting a bit more obscure and discussing less well trodden fodder.

This one is right up my street. 80s DTV horror. There is a list of the films used in the trailer of which I've only seen 26.

The gimmick of getting the audience to vote for it is good in theory but I've no desire to see Chris Jericho discuss Clownhouse.

Eaglemoss (the guys behind the collectable magazine gimmicks) had been running a Kickstarter campaign to release a G1 themed chess set with detailed figures, they set the target at $300,000 with incentives for donating including a hard back book, a split face enamel pin  of Optimus and Megatron and other goodies. Unfortunately it failed this past Friday, reaching less than a third of the target at $92,054

I'm not surprised it didn't make the funding. It looked nice and all but expecting people to pay the same as Unicron for a huge chess set was madness.

  9. I went to Reading from 99 to 05. Had an absolute blast for the most part but there was a definitely a dodgy vibe there in the campsite.

But it was only really 99 and 05 that it felt really dangerous. 99 a bloke walked into our campsite and kicked the fire into a chaps face when he wouldn't buy drugs from him for instance. The portaloos were burnt down that year on the Sunday. Back then the bogs had no security so you had to go with a mate just incase one of the ferrals decided to knock it over with you inside.

05 seemed pretty hostile all weekend but on the Sunday night it went absolutely Batshit where we were camping. Ended up abandoning the tents as the animals started burning everything they could get there hands on. But really that could have been just the specific campsite we were in I guess.

Wouldn't change any of the rest of it though. I doubt I'll ever laugh as much as I did there again.

What happened to Tenet? He forced Warner’s to release that into cinemas when they had asked to both delay it, or release it on premium VOD and Cinemas at the same time and he told them to jog on. He was going on about Tenet saving the Cinema industry when it was released last year and it didn’t and was shit to boot! He can jog on.

It monumentally failed. Regardless of it being his fault or not it was the beta test for films back in the cinema. So he'd be mental to not try and manipulate the studio as best he could.

Spotting the dodgy animation and continuity errors (multiple Starscream's or other jet variants in the same scene for example) is part of the fun for me.

Yeah like doing that to. It's the overall look of the Akon episodes I guess that are weak.

Love Arrival From Cybertron, Megatrons Master Plan, Rebirth and Key to Vector Sigma myself. Pretty much the ones I had on tape as a kid minus Carnage In C Minor and that other one I forget. I'm only 15 eps in this time around but by and large they all seem to paly pretty well so far. Only do the 1 episode/Story arc at a time mind you.

I've never watched the Japanese seasons despite having the box set on DVD for close to 20 years so I'm looking forward to that. They are probably mental.

  12. I'm watching it again from the start myself. It's been about 20 years so that's nice. The thing that struct me is how wildly inconsistent the animation is. My understanding is that it was animated by two studios. One in Japan and one somewhere else (I forget, Korea maybe?) The Japanese episodes look great but the other animators not so much.

  13. Two incidents spring to mind for me. I'm front row seeing Orange Goblin at Sub89 a few  years back. There's a couple of songs left in the set and this bloke barges his way through the crowd and decided he wants my spot. He spends the remaining time elbowing me and trying to push me out. Sort of rude but I love me some Goblin and I'm (tragically) rocking out hard so I'm not that bothered. But what pissed me off was the band finish and I turn to him with a big beaming smile on my face (because it was awesome) and say 'that was fucking awesome'. He looks likes like he's ready to beat the shit out of me with a face like thunder. I just walked off happy as larry.

The other one was when I saw ICP at the Electric Ballroom. I'm with my Wife about 3 rows front during the supports. Sensibly she decided to retreat before ICP come on so as not to get murdered in the serge. I'd love to say the same for the diminutive women to my right and her boyfriend.

The inevitable serge comes. I have no choice but to go with it. They spend the entire time furious. At lowest points being the dude tries to push me over into the crowd. But worse when crowd surfers pass I'm trying to helpfully pass them over and the women (pissed off crowd surfers exist at the front of a gig) reaches up and digs her nails into the back of the guy and twist pinches as hard as she can. Except its dark at this point and she actually does that to my under arm as I'm helping the dude past. Fuck me that hurt. Silly fuckers should have picked a sensible place to stand. Twats.

Also if you're going to crowd surf don't kick. If you kick I you get dropped on your head.

    Because Preston.

Hed PE and Sumo Cyco were best things about the gig. AAF were shite

This, saw them at Sub89 in Reading on that tour. Both Sumo Cyco and Hed PE put on a hell of a show. I didn't have high hopes but AAF were astonishingly shit in comparison.

It might be the anthology element (if it is - being the MCU, everyone's trying to work out how it all fits together or links with the films) but it feels like a series of pilots for series they want to do but don't have the backing or content for yet.

Nah never felt like that to me. Feels just like the What If..? comic crossed with the Twilight Zone. It's plausible that they could introduce elements into the MCU via Multiverse of Madness but the series isn't bound to the MCU. Marvel fans try to hard to look for meaning that isn't there. Look at the theory's banded about when WandaVision was on.

Also I loved the Zombie's one. But then I love a good Zombie movie me.

  16. Really liked Shang-Chi. It has undercooked character development which is a shame. Solid B level Marvel imo.

I pretty much at least like all the MCU but the trailer for Eternals makes it look utter dogshit. I'll be happy if it's even a watchable time waster after that.

Binged all of What If..? last night. Absolutely loved it. The Doctor Strange ep was a bit dull but I had a blast with the rest. The animation is superb.
