You missed out that the women are too butch. Thatâs another one Iâve seen a lot. Fandoms are the fucking worst at times
I can imagine. That and she got a hair cut and had a girlfriend. All utterly mental 'criticisms'. Even if I were to concede that Teela has a bigger part than she should (I don't, it serves the story and is cannon from the original series) then what's it fucking matter? Women should have representation and so should lgbtq. But seriously Man at Arms, Orko and Evil Lynn were both absolutely as important to the story as Teela.

Cheers. Found it. I was looking for He Man. Found it under Masters of the Universe.Â
I think a lot of folk have had that problem. My mate on Facebook couldn't find it either. The thing is Mattel don't own the old He-Man and the Master's of the Universe show from Filmation so they can't use the name.

I've just replayed Transformers Devastation again, Thought there was a level after Prime, whoops.Â
Â
I couldn't get past Megatron on my initial playthrough. I've now max'd out Prime but I'm pretty rubbish at it now so every time I try and tackle the last level I find myself way out of my depth and quit pretty quick. I should probably start over with a new character and pick it up again.

Just finished Master's of the Universe: Revelations and it's superb. The animation is phenomenal and the action scenes are fantastic.
Every character is really well characterised and it really does feel like an updated follow up to the original series.
There is a bit to much heavy handed exposition delivered in the dialogue but as it has to serve older fans and new its forgivable.
I loved me a bit of Orko back in the day and they nailed his interpretation.
Unfortunately now the wait starts for the second half.

House of Fraser has the Top Gun Transformers cross over:Maverick for sale at 25 quid at the mo.Â
https://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/brand/transformers/transformers-prj-crs-jn99-991318#colcode=99131899
Yeah they have had proper bargains recently. Managed to get Sky-Lynx for 40 quid instead of 80 a few weeks back. It hasn't turned up yet mind you. I should warn you a chap on a Facebook group I'm in took delivery of Maverick from House of Fraser and the box was utterly destroyed. He contacted HOF and they said that they won't replace or refund damaged packaging so if you're an inbox collector it's definitely a risk.

In regards to @DEFcomment. It wasn't offence, they were trying to make a point that men are quite happy to throw the 'oh, are you on your period you moody cow' comments out there but freak out at the mention of actual female anatomy. Hell, Instagram still auto-edits posts about periods but racist stuff is all good, so it was nice to a men squirm at the mention of fallopian tubes.
Â
Thanks. I've still yet to rewatch it. I'm hopeful I warm to it a bit more.Â

Actually came across some quotes from Cate Shortland via journalist Hanna Flint about the scene in question:
 Hide contents
This bit from a Little White Lies article on the subject:âIt was altered by Nicole Holofcener, the wit behind Lovely and Amazing, Please Give and Enough Said, who was brought in to polish up the dialogue. As Shortland recalls, â[Holofcener] said, âWe donât take it out â weâll get the girls to answer it.â She was punching things up by not diminishing the politically incorrect stuff, but saying, âLetâs get the women in there and get their hands dirty, too.â That was fun, and made the film more robust, and made the girls tough. They didnât back down or squirm. If you want to talk about this, letâs talk about it.ââ
Â
Tremendous context. Iook forward to watching it again hopefully appropriately through the intended prism without my preconceived notions.Â

My wife had no problem with it, she saw it as
Hide contentsthe man in the scene making light of the women by making a period joke, and they shut him up by pointing out the abuse theyâve suffered by men. She didnât see it as them making light of it, but rather using it as part of the âarmourâ theyâve built up because of the world they live in, controlled by the types of men who try to control women, or reduce their feelings to âoh, on your period are youâ. She may not have thought about it in as much depth as you, and would probably agree with you that such things shouldnât be made light of, but in the moment and afterward she had no issue.
We both really enjoyed Black Widow. Itâs top 10 Marvel for me, because I liked the performances, the action and the fact it didnât feel like it was actively setting up a bunch of other films. Itâs top 3 for my wife, whoâs been desperate for a great MCU film thatâs centred on women - sheâd hoped that would be Captain Marvel but got so bored at that one she wandered out of the cinema. She loved Black Widow.
Can't argue with her assessment of my query. Thanks I think I was a little reactionary.
Re the rest of the film. I really didn't like it and thought it was a mess but will be watching it again to take it in properly. Hopefully I miss judged it because I was really looking forward to it. Right now it's sitting next to Hulk in worst of the MCU to me.

Directed by a woman, story by a man and woman and screenplay by a man. Will be interesting to see other takes. None of the reviews I have seen have picked up on it though, but I do get why it's jarring.Â
I maybe making a mountain out of mole hill. I've done a lot of training regarding stuff like that and it really made me uncomfortable.

I have just started watching again with my wife who
Hide contentsHas already sobbed and complained about the title sequence being too much with the children being trafficked.Â
But to your spoiler, I don't thinkÂ
Hide contentsIt was made light of. I think it was a play on the sterotype on males not being comfortable with female body parts. And it has been something previously covered when Natasha discussed what happened to her prior to meeting the Avengers. I don't think they were trying to make light of the situation, but it will be interesting to see other takes.
But yeah, I feel it is too much for my 8 year old. Personally, I watched way worse at her age, but she is much more sensitive to violence, so I will let her watch it in a few years.
Re my spoiler I got that it was a call back but to me it seemed like a flippant joke about a super serious topic. Which I concede that as a dopey male I may be way off the mark as to how to take it.
-
Really disappointed in Marvel. Black Widow isn't just shit. It's pretty offensive.
SpoilerI thought for sure it would be something for my 11 Yr old girl but it flippantly makes jokes of forced sterilisation which made me really uncomfortable
.
I would really like to here from female members of the board because I concede that I'm a dumb arse white man but that stuff just felt super not OK to normalise.

Richard Donner was a superb director. One of the greats for sure. He could do anything. The Omen, Superman 1&2, Lethal Weapon, Goonies and Scrooged. So many classics.

Yes. The rather small cast does give a sense of constrained environment. Still I am quite enjoying it. Mainly due to Megatron stealing the show with his dry humour.Â
Which of the IDW series/issues overlaps with this show?
I think it's just inspired by the RID books rather than overlapping.

The artwork bundled with the new 4K release of TFTM. Is quite gorgeous. Will look great framed.
Has anyone watched the Combiners Wars series? I believe it was made by Machinima. What's the general consensus of it. I've tried watching it a couple of times. Never stuck with it though. Partly due to an unreliable supply of the shows. That also contributed to it being a bit difficult to follow and comprehend.Â
How well does it fit into the continuity?
It should be right up my street as it showcases the Combiners/Gestalts. I'm going to try watching it again. Is there any background reading that anyone can recommend?Â
Managed to watch a few of the episodes recently. Really liking the characterisation of Megatron. He's got a know it all attitude that suits him very well in this series. The Combiners have been relegated to being just big bots. The show hasn't really explored the combiner element. I had expected more of a special teams element being used. Giving Menasor a petulant teenager character is very fitting. Overall, it isn't bad . Looking forward to seeing how they use the city bots. They'll have to be careful about how they scale their abilities and influence.Â
I watched all 3 of the Machinima series a couple of weeks ago. It feels a little disjointed and like a dry run for the Netflix series. They get better as they go on. They are basically stripped down/under developed versions of the IDW comic. The thing is with a lower budget they cut corners. If there are literally only the central characters in a 'city' then its hard to feel jeopardy. The comics are such a rich developed world in comparison.Â

I've gone with the 4k steelbook and a t-shirt. I like that set but I'm running out of space.

Haven't watched Drop Dead Gorgeous in donkeys years but it was one of my first DVDs back in 2000ish. Bought it in a 3 for 20 deal with Two Hands and In Too Deep I think. Watched it constantly. Cheers for that Keith I'm going to bung it on tonight.

I thought it wasnât on the original list but was added later?
Yep. It's on the section 3 list which means it wasn't up for obscenity prosecution charges but was subject to seizure.
I've not seen Xtro yet. It looks like a good laugh.

Watching a Toy Galaxy about Cadillacs & Dinosaurs (one of Capcom's best beat em ups, but that's for another thread) and I happened across this Youtube channel. Some interesting stuff on there, including the live action show with Mr T as a detective which somehow ran for 5 seasons. Presumably they didn't want to incur his wrath by cancelling it, because they're not crazy fools.
Â
Yeah that channel is great I keep meaning to watch some T and T whenever they throw up a new one. Cadillacs & Dinosaurs is ace. That Toy Galaxy episode was great. I had no idea about the original comic.

Parasyte if it's still on there, a modern anime but based on a great 80's/90's manga. Very much in that old school violent style.
Oh and Devilman: Crybaby. It's the perfect modern follow up/retelling to the classic bloody OVA's.
Will definitely checkout Devilman: Crybaby the original OVA's are ace. Parasyte is still on there so that's on the watch list now too.
I've just finished Yasuke in one sitting. Couldn't help myself. It's an easy watch. If I had a minor issue it would be I'd have liked more detailed shading in the character designs but it's still well animated, directed and paced. He's a cracking character. Any idea if they are doing a second season?

I was looking into the MOTU frnachise yesterday and it is a messy beast. Dreamworks owns the licences for everything now except Toys (Mattel) and Film (Sony). Despite Mattel creating Masters of the Universe, they sold the IP and through acquisitions is now owned by Universal (after they purchased Dreamworks). Mattel get first dibs on making toys until 2023 when those rights also go to Universal, so, now there are 3 He-Man toylines coming out this year and 2 shows, it seems Mattel are trying to make the most of it while they still can.
It is odd how both Netflix and Dreamworks are making 2 separate shows and both will be for Netflix as well.Interesting. So is the Revelation show sub licensed to Netflix by Universal? I was under the impression it was from Mattel.

Blimey well this is really shitty news to wake up to. Saw him with Slipknot twice at Reading Festival and once with Rob Zombie in Brum. A hell of a drummer and fascinatingly iconic when I think about it. Considering the army of members Slipknot had Joey was as over as Corey.
