After several failed attempts over the past 9 years, I finally got into and listened to all of the New Generation Podcast. Hurrah. Anyone know what the guys are up to these days and if they're all OK? Mad to think that by the time I got to the end, it's already been finished for 5 years.

I’m just coming to the end of another relisten of it.

None ste especially active on social media any more and I believe Stewart moved away after it finished. There was a period towards the end where they went a few months without an episode as he was having a poor time with his mental health. Hopefully he’s OK in whatever he’s doing now, but I’m sure I remember seein he something about him having moved

  2. I’ve only tried the phone app since the change over. Took a bit to figure out that some shows are split into ‘Seasons’ with  matches listed as ‘Episodes’ rather than just being able to go to the show in the browser and just having them split up like before. Will get used to it I’m sure.
Haven’t tried Roku app yet but will do as Roku tends to be the best way to watch most things

  3. Just sorted some tickets for a pair of shows at Sheffield Corporation next March.

5th: Napalm Death w/ Pig Destroyer, Primitive Man and Wormrot

    15th: Conan w/ Wallowing

  4. Fuck it, either send Savio Vega out there or just lean heavy into it with who does the ring announcing these days.

”And now…..joining Cody Rhodes’ team…….hailing from CHICAGO ILLINOIS!!!!!……………….David Otunga”

Anyone that thought Punk was coming back needs their head examined. Of course If I’m wrong about that I’ll issue a full apology first thing the Sunday morning

Forgot about Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett from The Chase. He used to have a quiz segment leading into breaks on Wrestle Talk and I think he appeared on the show as well. I think he was involved with NGW up north. I also seen him a couple of times at York Hall watching Rev Pro.

He’s still doing stuff with NGW

Bet the selfish cunts bring out another shite cover and pretend they give to charity from it. Fucking scalpers

I haven’t heard of them having a single this year but I’m sure they can knock up something with a sausage roll pun in an afternoon. They’ve also got a new grift going with Pukka Pies, with 10p per sale going to Trussel Trust while there’ll be much more going in their own pockets

I think fundamentally the issue is you spend years and dozens of films building up to Endgame, Endgame is a massive success and ends the stories of the main characters in an incredibly satisfactory way. In a perfect world the whole thing ends there. But by keeping going there's this whole "so what?" vibe to the whole thing. It all feels pointless and supplementary. Iron Man to Endgame was THE STORY. Instead of stopping at that perfect point they've done something even worse: they've increased the output. No one knows where any of this is going, it's difficult to keep up with, the (already pretty ropey) quality is going down, it all feels meaningless and people are seemingly burnt out on it. Especially as the majority of the big characters are gone. Its a cinematic universe of midcarders.

This is very much it for me. Endgame felt like an ending. Not just an ending to that phase (or whatever they’re calling them these days), but an end to the whole shabang. But then they kept going and rather than being the culmination of something, Endgame just became another piece of the puzzle.

To put it into a wrestling context, it’s like the Gargano/Ciampa feud in NXT. That they had at Takeover: New Orleans saw the babyface get the win, making the heel surrender. It was highly praised at the time on here and pretty much everywhere else. But rather than just accept that they’d done a great job with it, they had to do it again, and again, and even more to the point that it became a joke.

I watched Wanadavision at the time, but I honestly have no desire to ever watch anything Marvel related ever again because they just kept going long after what felt a natural endpoint

  8. Hiroshi Morie, known professionally as ‘Heath’ in X Japan has passed away aged 55

He past away last week but the news wasn’t officially confirmed by the band until now. Apparently they had intended to make an announcement in the middle of the month per Morie’s Family’s wishes, but that’s been brought forward due to news coverage in Japan

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of X Japan's ’s esteemed bass player Heath after his battle with colorectal cancer, on October 29th, 2023, at the age of 55. His cancer was found during an examination in June of this year. Despite his efforts to battle the disease, his condition declined suddenly in October, and he took his last breath in the hospital.”

"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who cherished Heath throughout his lifetime. We, the members of X Japan have personally bid farewell to Heath, but are still deeply saddened and dismayed by his sudden loss. Individual tributes from X Japan members will be shared on Heath’s official website at heathproject.com."

That one where the whole estate puts in their order to that one woman ordering McDonalds.

    Fuck that one.

I’d rather be that woman as she’s going to rack up those reward points in no time.

The Drive Thru one (and the previous Office one) though, imagine getting there after that lot have. You won’t be getting served until May

Michael Stipe name dropped "Mr Fred Blassie" and "Andy Kaufman in the wrestling match" in R.E.M.'s 'Man on the Moon' song so I reckon he's a wrestling mark.

He’s an Andy Kaufman mark more than he is a wrestling one. The song is a tribute to Kaufman’s career as a whole, of which wrestling was a big part

They're even fucking worse now if the last song I heard was anything to go by, it sounded like an AI mistake.

Yeah, someone posted in this thread I believe and that seemed to be the general consensus. They’ve always been fucking terrible, but that was a new low even by their standard.

I think I said this last year, but it’s clearly not a festival aimed at me anymore. Assuming that that is what’s being announced later (9pm is when it’s made official), out of the 78 bands listed there, there are only 6 that I would watch, and one of them I saw twice this year already. Now granted there are a lot of names there that I’ve never heard before and there will be more added closer to the time, but that will the bulk of the lineup, and a return of less than 8% sends a clear message to me that my money is meant to be spent elsewhere

  12. Seems plausible. Biohazard confirmed a few Euro festivals last week, as I mentioned earlier Dino seemed to self confirm FF, and Download was always going to be the show that got Pantera back over here. Not that I’d watch them any way, fuck Phil Anselmo and Zakk Wylde.

If those are the three headline acts then you couldn’t pay me enough to watch one of them, nevermind all three.

Oh, and Royal “we play rock music” Blood can get fucked too
