  1. I was pleasantly surprised that my Nick Cave ticket for November was only Ā£70 for Standing. I say only because obviously thatā€™s still a fair chunk of change, but I was expecting it to be much more with how things have been going post-Pandemic.

I would never break triple figures for any act though

  2. Was at the Conan/Wallowing show in Sheffield on Friday night. Great showing from all 3 acts (Gozer opened the night) but being shoved upstairs at Corporation because the main room was being occupied by a Mƶtley CrĆ¼e tribute act was a disgrace. @cobra_gordoĀ Iā€™d already bought the tickets before I was aware you were on the Nottingham date, otherwise Iā€™d have come down for that one.

Just booked two gigs which are probably as far apart as could possibly be.Ā
Suffocation w/ Distant (who Iā€™ve seen before and fucking suck), Sworn Amongst (who were in the year below me at college) and Cavekiller at The Hairy Dog in Derby in June, then Iā€™m off to Madness at Kirkstall Abby (which definitely sounds like it should be a Hammer Horror film) at the end of July

  3. Now thatā€™s how you get me to re-sub to AEW+ (for a month at least). Even Iā€™m happy to sod off logical reasons for it happeningĀ
    Ā

Insert A billion pics of Bowlcut Kid

  4. So the rumour going round is that Mone is on $10 million per year.

I mean, itā€™s obviously bullshit, but if there is even the slightest possibility that itā€™s true, TK is operating the biggest gravy train goingĀ

  5. Malachy McCourt has passed away aged 93.

I know him best as Fr. Daniel Meehan in Oz, but most will remember him best for playing Kevin McGuiness in Ryanā€™s Hope

  6. The contenders are all far too pally. Itā€™s supposed to be a competition, youā€™re not mates.

Who do we reckon is getting dropped from the Gladiators in Series 2? Comet from the womens side surely, I think sheā€™s only been on once.
As for the men,Ā Viperā€™s heat has totally gone, heā€™s rubbish. Legend, who is a massive bellend, has totally eclipsed him

It's a tough one. Because the Barbican I would assume would not want a full time production. But it's a small, intimate venue and it's a good stage size for the show. On the other hand, bigger theatre, bigger staging, potentially bigger audience (I know its not THAT far out but you can imagine if people are looking to see a show on the day they are buying from TKTS and going to one of the West End venues). It's had 2 pretty sold out seasons, so you'd like to think the Barbican would be open to it being a regular thing, but wonder what RSC are thinking,

Thatā€™s what I was meaning, my fault for not being clear. Run it every 12 or 18 months or so for a 3 month run.Ā

I'd assume not because Matilda has been playing for years in the West End. Makentosh only operates 8 theatres in the West End which is quite a few, but no the most of any company (I believe Ambassador own the most of anyone).

Ah right, thought he owned more of them and didnā€™t realise that Matilda was RSC too.

I can see it staying at Barbican though. They know what theyā€™re doing with staging it there rather than having to make changes to a different venue, and itā€™s clearly a big draw for the Barbican as well

  9. We saw Totoro the second time a couple of weeks ago.

I completely see where youā€™re coming from about the pacing, but despite that I couldā€™ve just watched it again straight away (I did watch the film a couple of days after we got back from London).Ā
The staging is incredible, the woman who they had singing had such a beautiful voice (I donā€™t know if it was the same as who sang on the showā€™s first run), and even the reveal of Totoro got me again. Iā€™d seen the show already, I knew what was coming, but that didnā€™t stop me just sitting there in absolute awe of him.

I love the Barbican as a venue for it though. Does it being produced by the RSC stop it from transferring to the West End? As Cameron Mackentosh owns the majority of those theatres.

Weā€™re at Spirited Away in May too and Iā€™ve only seen a couple of photos for that which havenā€™t spoiled too much of it. There is the show that was streamed on Hulu Japan available for download, but Iā€™ve resisted temptation to watch that ahead of time as thereā€™s lots in SA that Iā€™m interested in seeing how they bring it to lifeĀ

I'm assuming that's Atkinsons car park? Street parking around there is pretty safe, if you drive round the corner from Corp there's Devonshire Green and there's a bit more parking on there and a proper car park at the top of the hill before you get to the main road (West Street).

Yeah I was using Atkinsons. Thanks for the heads up on the others though

  11. Yeah was a really good night, although I had to duck out towards the end as the car park Iā€™ve been using closes at 11pm. Not sure what time the show actually finished, but my heart did sink a little when I saw ā€˜Napalm Death 9:55-ENDā€™, I knew I was missing the end. Second time in a row thatā€™s happened to me at Corporation so Iā€™m going to just pay for on street parking when I go to see Conan there next week, Iā€™m not driving 90 minutes to Sheffield and back again and not see the whole thing.

Ā Great to see merch at decent price too

  12. Naomi didnā€™t get an entrance, meaning that Twitter has gone into complete meltdown mode and got Wrestlemania Season underway proper with how she ā€œdeserves betterā€

Silly one but the word ā€˜discourseā€™. Rarely saw it used until recently and now it seems like itā€™s in almost every other post/tweet etc. Itā€™s like everyone just discovered the word in January or something, and now feel like theyā€™ve got to shoehorn it into every third sentence.Ā

Itā€™s like the other year when everyone found out what gaslighting was.

Another thing lately on Twitter is people seemingly calling anyone and everyone the N word. I donā€™t mean people just being blatantly racist in the traditional sense, but just throwing it in for no reason at all.
Yesterday on my timeline I had someone (who I donā€™t even follow) saying ā€œThis n***a Seth Rollins single handedly changed the main event style in WWEā€

  14. Ahead of their farewell tour, Eloy Casagrande has departed Sepultura to ā€œpursue a career in another projectā€. Rumour is that heā€™s going to be the new drummer in Slipknot.Ā
Greyson Nekrutman, who joined Suicidal Tendencies last year, has joined Sepultura to fulfil their upcoming tour dates.

Eloy is a great drummer and would be a great fit for Slipknot, but Iā€™m gutted heā€™s not going to be part of the final Sepultura tour.
