Guess that means Ospreay / Omega III is being saved for Wrestle Kingdom then.

As predicted back in the Forbidden Door thread. No way were New Japan going to let the rubber match for one of their titles featuring one of their top stars happen on an AEW show.

And Ofcourse Jericho has shoehorned his way into working with one of the hot acts again. “Hey Tony, you know who’d be great for working with Osprey in his home country?….”

  2. Watching Look North and Peter Levy just got told “the numbers don’t lie”. Needless to say I was straight in there with “and they spell disaster for you at Sacrifice”, and now I have to explain Steiner Maths to the wife

Mild brag but we've been added as support to Obituary and Pest Control in Sheffield in September. Massively excited to play with a band I've been a fan of since my late teens.

That’s the show I’m heading too. Well done @cobra_gordo, hopefully it’ll be a great night for you

I'm friends with the guy that promotes at Corp and I genuinely think he's doing a good job of rebuilding that place to what it was in the early to mid-2000s as far as gigs. He's starting to get more of the bigger bands to come back and there's certainly an appetite for shows there as the Black Stone Cherry gig sold out in around a minute. The Crowbar gig there was really busy too. At least he's putting on smaller underground bands.

I didn’t mean for it to sound like I was taking a swipe at who runs the promotion, and as you said there could be other factors at play and I don’t doubt that for a second that they’re not trying.
Im not sure if I agree with your point about it being the same day as the new album though. I’d have thought that “come hear us play some stuff from our brand new album” would be one of the drawing points.

It could just be one of those nights though that for whatever reason it just didn’t work out. They put the effort in for the people that did come and thats all you can ask for really.

Everyone, rightly, gave plaudits for WWE having their women’s only PPV. That was in 2018 and even though WWE have “Premium Live Events” now instead, have never done another. The first woman’s Wrestlemania main event was off the back of that, and because Rhonda Rousey was a crossover star still at that time.

They gave plaudits yes but it’s important to remember as well that it was held in part as a make-good for them not being allowed on the Saudi show that occurred later in the week. Since then the women have been “allowed” on the Saudi shows more and more in the years since, but that’s  a bigger conversation to be had. I seem to recall it also had strong opening day ticket sales but then struggled to shift many more afterwards, leading to the event playing out to a mostly dark arena

For me this has been leading to Punk winning, then returning to the US with a Hart Foundation tribute act with FTR.

Considering tonight’s venue and Punk’s ongoing love letter to Bret, I’m honestly surprised that they haven’t convoluted their way to a 10 Man Tag main event

The low attendance thing was a constant for pretty much every metal gig in Newcastle (outside of big bands) until the pandemic. Weirdly after lockdown ended loads more people started coming out and now the underground stuff is either sold out or close to. It's great, means we can finally start getting some good tours rather than having to travel elsewhere.

It seems to be things at Sheffield Corporation that are worst for it, at least in my personal experience. I don’t know if it’s just down to poor promotion or what but I saw Spectral Wound in a pub last month that drew better. I felt sorry for everyone have to play to such a pittance of a crowd, but I guess it gives them a chance to iron out the new material before hopefully a larger crowd gets to see/hear it.

  8. Saw Calligram and Mastiff last night in Sheffield.

The new Calligram stuff sounded great and this was my first time seeing Mastiff, and it turns out I used to go to college with one of their guitarists. I’ve been listening to them for the last couple of years and had no idea.
Everyone put the effort in despite the horrific attendance. Taking away everyone who was either playing in the bands (Balgurra and Beyst were the local supports) or a girlfriend of someone in the band, I think the final count was 15.

It means he can, but that doesn't mean he will.

He called for the person to come forward, which has now happened. If he has any respect for his colleague, he won’t be talking about any of it on his TV show or his Radio show…

…oh who the fuck am I kidding, he’s going to use this for as long as he can

So ALL IN is not a PPV ?

When it was first announced some were speculating that it was going to stream on MAX in the US, but nothing has been official so far, the lack of which lead some folk to think it was going to be “just a house show”. Yeah, cos you draw your biggest crowd ever in one of the worlds most famous stadiums and then don’t put it on TV in some form.

It’ll be shown in some way but as others have said we might just have to wait until a week or so out before they confirm it

  11. What is the likelihood of the BCC’s 5th man being Don Callis? Like how JJ Dillion would work War Games with the Horsemen. The match has enough smoke & mirrors going on that he doesn’t actually have to do a great deal, and getting into a position where Omega finally gets his hands on him, or is about to to then get cut off, would elicit a great pop.

I just think it saves bringing someone in short term who isn’t going to be in the mix a few months down the line, and other than the previously mentioned Pac I don’t know who else is an over enough heel to fill the spot. Pac would be a great addition to the BCC though, a nasty bastard who can scrap the same way as they currently do, but can go to the air when he needs to as well.

Anything to save us from Jericho though

Mortgages have become even less affordable now. And house prices aren’t really lowering significantly either. I’m lucky that I’m half way through a 5 year fixed term mortgage deal but all hope of buying anything better is pretty much gone for now. It’s the first time buyers who I feel sorry for.

Our current deal doesn’t end until the end of October, but about 3 weeks ago we went to the bank to speak to get an offer in place. Managed to get it at 4.41%, meaning that the increase, which we knew would happen, was minimal (only going up by £50p/m)

Nigel McGuinness is dreadful. He just spits sentences out like he's got a mouth full of wasps.

At least he hasn’t hit his “And I heard as it were the noise of thunder” line like he did in weeks 1 & 2, I was sure we were going to get that every week. It’ll be a revelation when he finds it predates Johnny Cash.

He is fucking terrible though and always has been. He had one good night with Michael Cole at the UK Championship Tournament and hoodwinked everyone into thinking he was good
