the entire Vampiro/Sting run from the arse end of WCW. Cannot get enough of that shit, the human torch match? the graveyard match? absolutely yes mate, Fin Martin do one

nWo, I can take or leave. Nash being left to his own devices is a bore. Anything from the moment Russo turned up to the last Nitro, minus that couple of months from Sin to the reset Nitro, I could watch and enjoy any day of any week.Ā

  2. They sent me an email on Saturday to tell me about this show. It advertised two chamber matches, a tag title match and interview segment with an NXT fella called Grayson Waller. I'd say it was the worst card I've ever seen advertised but I remembered they sent me an email for a show like Payback or something last year and that looked absolutely dreadful too. That this company is somehow on a roll is evidence that, aside from being the only person on here with any moral fibre, this shit is really never going to be for me.

Hilarious that they sent Australia this show. You'd think it might kill the territory but then you remember they sent us Rebellions and Capital Carnage and Mayhem in Manchester and it just made the Stockholm syndrome more powerful.

  3. Cena's not scummy on that level but I've never had any doubt that his entire badge-kissing, corporate stooge act is the same in front of the camera as behind it. I've really liked the guy as a wrestler in the past, and did for a long time but this disgusting response is not at all surprising. Nor will I be surprised the next time he comes out for a dreadful cameo and gets a great response from people who support this fucking horrible company.Ā

I'm sure some will try and hide behind the difference between person and performer but I've not been able to separate the performers from the characters for a long time and I think it's a fucking copout to be honest. The foundation of the wrestling industry is that these guys are either an exaggeration of themselves or they play a character that they live and breathe so you don't know where the character ends and the person starts and vice-versa. I'd give a lot of the current guys a pass in that I think most of them are like any other sportsperson in going out and doing their job and then going back to whatever they do - looking after their kids, playing games, getting pissed, going to the gym, filming a "reality" TV show, etc. Everyone before them though? Ugh. From low-level douchbaggery like Orton to predators like Lawler, to systematic sex-pests like Vince all the way to murderers like Benoit and Snuka, I don't know how anyone can watch anything with these people on and their real-life scumminess not be the first thing that comes to mind.Ā

There's also the fact that Rhodes appeals to the workrate perverts in ways that Cena never did, so he's never going get the push-back that Big Match John did.

Surely, there aren't any fans left who aren't workrate perverts? Not a single one.

Of course, none of that is happening. Cody wins, with The Rock turning back babyface and somehow helping, but not directly influencing the finish- like Goldberg interfering in Eddie vs. Brock. Then Cody's the man, everyone's happy... until 3 months later when everyone's sick of him and posting "LOL Super Cody".

I think people who actually watch and follow the product would say it better but surely that sort of audience just isn't there anymore? The core of the WWE support are people who were watching and arguing vigorously that it was a good product during the absolute dregs of the pre-pandemic era, the empty arena shows, the thunderdome and the last days of sex-pest Vince. They are people who attended shows and chanted "Thank you, Vince". They're people who are all over social media posting defences of the company and attacking other companies like they're in the dressing room or the board room.Ā

I detest the company and everyone associated with it but it's impossible to argue that they haven't completely satisfied their fanbase - until they tried a massive hard right turn towards The Rock. This isn't a fanbase looking to find fault with everything like before, I don't think. It's a company that would have to create massive flaws to upset them.

Looking at a number of VKM's "edicts" over the years, a lot of it just seems to be what the mad old cunt has come to "reckon" over the years, rather than what he's observed, especially as a lot of these commandments have come after decades of operation. When was the Championship-Not-Belt/Title put into practice? Didn't seem to hurt the company during its rise or when it beat wCw.

Also, the insistence on not numbering WrestleManias - after thirty-plus fucking years of doing them numbered, it's suddenly a problem? Didn't seem to bother the NFL with their SuperBowls.

I nearly started a "stuff you've forgotten existed" thread after a trip to watch NXT:UK came up on my Google memories. Another one that then came up was that time Vince decided matches should randomly be 2/3 falls for a bit so they could put adverts between the falls.

Still, if keeping busy thinking up this stuff stops a few women being preyed on in this company for a day or two, it's well worth it.

I should declare an interest here, because this is my mate's channel, but he's done some fun, easter egg filled cartoons to accompany some wrestling stories. Enjoy.Ā

Super talented guy. Had my fill of wrestling bullshit stories. The cartoons are brilliant though. Glad I'm not the only one with a framed Boss Man photo on the wall.

It's quite depressing when someone plays the hits and you come to the realisation that they were all quite shit in the first place.

Stuff that makes you feel old: that it originally happened thirteen years ago. This realisation is so old, Lawler wouldn't date it.

The Rock looks horrific in that pic posted earlier but had a googleĀ and he looks fine. Old, but fine. Never trust a cropped pic. Except this one of Heyman's nazi salute.

In the latest WON, Meltzer wrote that Billy Jack was taken to a psychiatric ward and told people that it was, in fact, a mercy killing. He shot his wife because she was dying from dementia and in pain.Ā

I'd love this not to be more evidence of the industry and the people in it being the dirt-worst shit on this earth. However, potential counter is this extract the Daily Mail's coverage nicked off Facebook (yes, I know...):

Her niece, Sue Becraft, wrote: 'When a family member is murdered, as my Aunt Jan was this past Thursday morning in Portland, all that comes flooding back is the endless work her daughter did to get her away from her abuser.Ā

'Hearing the pain and heartbreak in her voice as she tells me ā€œHe shot her this morning, she didnā€™t make itā€.Ā

'She loved her mother deeply and did all she could, but services she called to help her, only failed her and Jan.'

On the one hand, they could do with investing time and energy in a new top heel. Drews contract is up, Romans slowing down to virtually nothing with each passing year, Raw will look very babyface heavy if Cody and Punk (when he comes back) stay on the show.

    On the other handā€¦.. no.

It's like 1990 all over again. Except back then, you'd had your run and if they had nothing fresh, they were fucked. Now, they just put lipstick on the pig and people go "Ooh, I like that shade of lipstick, can't wait to see what this pig does next".

Was thinking this about Drew McIntyre yesterday so the above posts are pretty timely. From what I've picked up on podcasts, Drew has lost every big match for a couple of years. Lost to Roman, to Gunther and to Rollins, pretty comprehensively, as a face and a newly turned heel. Not dunking on the guy because I like him a lot, but in any other time before the merry-go-round era of the last decade, he's absolutely done. No-one even cares about six weeks ago now.

Supes had a good post about AEW being great news because it offers fresh opportunities and that's true of plenty, like Cody, Jade, Joe and Christian but not of most NXT bores. While it is true and is best for a lot of guys, I'm not sure how necessary it is. People just seem so willing to accept The Miz or Rey Mysterio having their 87th go around the horn. Different times.

  11. Good post from David, full of foresight. Was only missing the "If Vince is alive when that eventually happens, fuck knows how he'll react, or how the company will deal with it. He'll probably resign in disgrace, fans, with full encouragement from his despicable daughter, will chant "Thank you, Vince", then he'll force his way back in, make an insane amount of money from a sale, retain a place on the board, cause ANOTHER shitstorm, resign in disgrace again, leave people in charge who definitely fucking knew, and the cunts with no conscience who have been putting money in his pocket the whole time will immediately be more upset about the booking of Cody Rhodes than their funding of a sex pest."

Unlucky @David, so close. Great post anyway.

Still fucking sickened by this allegation. Sickened by this cesspool of an institution. Utterly disappointed in TK and his company. Horrified by every cunt who watches this shit, even the ones who pretend they don't - you fucking know who you are.

Bet you lot buy Gary Glitter albums.

Do we really think there's any upside in NOT having him take on the Steiner name?

Yeah, it'll stop people googling his Dad. Surely, the last thing you want is to encourage people to look into that family connection and find out that Rick was... you know

    ...killing WCW in 1999.

  13. Reading the first episode of PowerSlam in the 1994 year book they released, Fin mentions in the WWF round-up section that "Mabel and Typhoon are now a regular tag-team" and says they'll be managed by Oscar and feud with Yoko and Crush. Been reading @air_raid's 1994 notes to see if it was mentioned. History of WWE has them teaming for one match on a Wrestling Challenge taping. Wonder if a plan was scrapped or it's just a bad take from Fin (or a bad take picked up from Meltzer).

Had to laugh at the news story that came out this week about WWE reaching out to Luke Littler after he revealed his choice of entrance music was inspired by the WrestleMania he attended several years ago. Only for him, at sixteen years old, to then say that he's grown out of wrestling now!Ā

A parent of one of our 8yo footballers was giving away some Cody Rhodes merch yesterday because "he's grown out of it". Good lad.

Just seen the price of this! Is it worth it @tiger_rick?

I think so. It's paperback but full colour and full size. It's been a few years since I bought or sold any issues of PS but I think to try and buy the 6 magazines in this collection would cost several times what the book does, so if you're just looking to read the magazines, it's good value.

I think that'd be true of the first 2-3 years of PS. After that, it may be more for convenience as the mags aren't that expensive. Assuming they keep printing them.

  16. Wasn't sure if this has its own topic but I got this beauty through today. A great idea to reprint the PS back catalogue in a book. Especially chuffed because I've never owned a couple of the 1994 issues.
