  1. Does anyone else have wrestling defaults that they know aren't right, but its what comes naturally to you no matter how many older tapes you watch?

For instance, as I started watching wrestling in 1992, I'll always consider Rick Rude as having short hair and a WCW guy. Whereas most would probably remember him with long curly hair and feuding with the Warrior in the WWF.

Some others I have is that Sid will always be Sid Justice rather than Psycho Sid and the Survivor Series is teams of four rather than five.

  2. No major booking changes I can see. Just carrying on where they left off. Like someone said, maybe at the next tapings Val Venis and Steiner return....... I can almost guarantee Gunner and Crimson.

Although I have no doubt Dutch Mantel knows what he's doing, there are no game changers out there to sign. Alberto Del Rio keeps being brought up, but would he make a difference really?

Every big name is either under WWE or a legends contract by now. Its going to be almost impossible for TNA to get a buzz going with such shitty TV.

  3.

According to Conrad Thomson's twitter, the Ric Flair show is no more after naitch got fed up of doing it.

Didn't he get binned off the other Network also, it's Flair for crying out loud he's gone and done somat aint he, fondled a Stewardess or Stripped off in WalMart or something. Give him a month to repent and he will get another gig.

There's a good chance really. But he did seem to lose interest over the past few weeks as Conrad and Bruce stepped in to do one show for him and he hasn't done one since December 16. You'd think he needs the cash though, so yeah, pushed rather than jumped would be my inclination too.

The podcast market is massively oversaturated though, so one fewer is no real loss. I only listen to SCG and Bruce Pritchard's every week, and JR's and Austin's when they have decent guests. The Lapsed Fan is great but needs a herculean-esque effort as they're so bloody long. Not enough hours in a week otherwise.

  4. I'm sure Anthem are aware of this, but they need to find more income streams and quick. It seems their only revenue is generated from the Indian and South African TV deals.

I don't think the product is anywhere near hot enough to warrant house shows, but maybe they feel that with better advertising etc they can monetise the likes of the Hardys, EC3 etc.

But I get why Anthem wanted to own them and I certainly think it will work for them in the way they want it to from an advertising and multi cross channel app oojamaflip malarkey situation.

Yeah, its still better than starting a company from scratch, but the TNA brand needs major reconstruction from top to bottom to get some goodwill back.

  5. 2 bits of news. First one is, the talent and production are late behind on pay again, even with the new owners.

I'll give them a pass on that one, given how much a ballache such a handover must be. Are they even officially running the show yet? I read somewhere they take over on Jan 1.

Anthem, after all, are a TV company so surely they're above shenanigans like that?

  6.

I don't get why they didn't just try to offer it up to Netflix or Amazon Prime instead.

They would give them nothing due to nobody watching. It would probably be a waste of bandwidth and memory too. They cycle content due to limited space, it would be better to stick on an old sitcom than 100 hours of TNA which a thousand people may watch.

That's not quite true though is it? Asking people to pay a fiver for a standalone TNA package is a different kettle of fish to subscribers to a service that offers a wide range of other programming too. TNA gets a few hundred thousand viewers on a piss poor network so to say nobody is watching is a bit much.

Content providers are screaming out for new stuff all the time, I can't see why a series with a guaranteed new episode every week wouldn't be of some interest.
