I can't honestly say that match quality bothered me at all as a kid (I still don't rank it as highly as most people do).
If anything, if WWF Superstars only showed the entrances and skipped right to the finish of matches, I wouldn't have complained too much.
Now of course I could tell you the difference between and IRS and 1-2-3 Kid match, but other than liking his high flying moves, back then that would have been it.

Listened to another Something to Wrestle With yesterday (Million Dollar Man), and whilst they are entertaining i still feel like i come out of them things knowing no more than i did than when i went in. It still sounds like Prichard has forgotten everything so either just gives the safe answer, tells a story thats been told before or flat out bullshits.
Â
TBH I think its remarkable he remembers as much as he does. Bruce wasn't adverse to having a good time back in the day, and it was the 1980's after all.

That was incredible audio. "Can you believe she thought it was OK to put this in a book where anyone could read it, that's disgusting!" says Conrad, as he reads it out word for word on his massively popular podcast.
Â
He did that again this week on Schiavone's show. Reading excerpts from Linda Bollea's book that Hulk was banging the PR woman for the Mall of America in Minnesota, and that was why the first Nitro was filmed there.

Also there was a commitment to the New Generation. This was Wrestlemania 10 back in the Garden with barely a mention of the past. Piper was there and probably could have wrestled. The only other Lelani Kai who meant nothing and was clearly an afterthought as she's not even on those pencilled in cards. Mania was a risk with no Hogan for the first time and old wwf stars showing up in WCW already, Vince went with The New generation as has been said the risk paid off and launched Razor and Michaels and cemented Bret as a top guy. Unthinkable they would take a risk like this now. But there is no competition and they can get who they want. And don't have to fully commit to new stars.
Â
I remember almost praying while watching WM10 that Hogan would show up (it wasn't shown live from what I remember, but the Monday or Tuesday after). I was gutted. This 10 year old was missing the old stars.

I don't know what he was like before, but Mathews has seemed like a proper seething cunt since he's been at TNA. Just a whiny fucking arsehole as well as an utterly insomnia curing commentator
Â
E: fuck me, Sharky really went in on him. Ruthless. Love it.
Â
He never really offended me in WWE but then he started being a twat towards JR on Twitter and has grown to be a bigger and bigger bellend ever since.
Â
Borash has apparently been given a promotion in the new regime (richly deserved imo) and he doesn't seem to like the twat, so that bodes well.
Â
Anyone know if that Cyrus Fees is any good? Would be happy with Todd Keneley coming back tbh, thought he was decent enough in his short stint. Tenay seems to have declared himself retired.
-
Not sure if this means anything, but GFW announcer Cyrus Fees has started following Impact Wrestling on Twitter. I haven't heard his stuff but I imagine he'd have to be an improvement on Josh Matthews if the Jeff Jarrett GFW takeover continues.
-
I think Spud is pretty good in everything he does, but Aron Rex' Gorgeous George knock-off is fucking atrocious.
I must admit to laughing out loud at the Hardys' segment this week though. Its taken a while for the act to grow on me, but Matt Hardy's won me over.
-
Some lovely comments there I see. Social media is truly fucking awful sometimes.
Â
It really is. You just need to look at the comments on any newspaper story etc.
I never understood just how genuinely thick and/or nasty some people can be, until the advent of Facebook and Twitter.
-
I must admit that while admittedly not watching every week (or anywhere near as often tbh) from what I've heard, Mauro shows a lot more interest that Michael Cole in what's going on in the ring. Everyone's tastes are different but he comes across as a more traditional announcer, which is what I prefer.
-
I fucking loved Scott D'amore in Team Canada. All a bit back to the future tbh but probably to be expected that Jarrett brings in people he trusts. The next set of tapings should be interesting, but as I've often said, I don't see many names out there they could bring in to make an Impact (boom, boom).
-
Sad the state they are both in.
Â
True, but I'd argue TNA's future is looking much brighter than even 3-4 months ago (which admittedly was rock fucking bottom).
Â
Maybe sending wrestlers to work in Japan, between tapings, will supplement their incomes and ensure they get a full time wage. Can see the logic in that tbh.
-
After the wild success of the Wrestle-1 deal (ahem), TNA have now partnered up with Pro Wrestling Noah. You'd hope the new owners would have a better idea of how to keep business partners happy than Dixie did.
-
I was at Mania in 2008 and went to an Impact taping. They didn't do anything other than send a truck with a video of TNA on the side of it to the hotel we were at to advertise the brand. The queues were huge as it was first come first served. We queued for five hours to ensure we got in as it was a rare opportunity to see Sting and TNA had far more respect as an upcoming alternate show in those days. Can't see there being the same interest this time!
Â
With tens of thousands of wrestling fans in town, i'm sure they could fill some kind of venue. Dixie's gone and TNA's rep isn't quite as bad as it was last year, for example.
-
Sounds like Double J will indeed be running the show pretty much. No real surprise.
Â
-
Yeah, I was blocked although I don't recall ever tweeting him (I must have though).
Thought it was a decent enough start, and he remembered as much as I hoped he would.
-
I will blame Meltzer and his old eyada.com shows for this mindset that Wrestling and MMA go hand in hand though, that if you like one you almost certainly like the other.
-
I've seen the name mentioned on here a lot, but I watch so little modern day WWE these days that I had no idea how Braun Strowman even looks like until watching the Rumble last night.
But he seems to be booked as a big man along the lines of the Big Show, Mark Henry etc, but doesn't look the part at all. Anyone else feel the same?
-
I get the feeling that a good chunk of Bruce Prichard's show aren't interested in modern wrestling, so I doubt that would matter tbh. I actually whooped aloud in the car last night when they reveled Schiavone's new show. His appearance on Flair's podcast a year or two ago shows he still has a pretty good memory for things, even if he has no interest in current wrestling.
Â
Didn't really enjoy the Kurt Angle episode as much as most of the podcasts they've done, but that's because the subject matter was a bit too recent for my liking. Post-2000 stuff just doesn't hold much nostalgia value for me.

You really don't help your case sometimes you know.

I discovered the other day that a friend from uni is now working at Madison Square Garden. I'm disproportionately excited about it and I don't think she quite understands why!
Back when I was about 12 I reckon I could've named the arena in every big US city or town because of weekly WWF shows and PPVs.
Even today, working in travel, if I'm looking at somewhere it's usually the name of the arena that first springs to mind.
Â
Â
I used to like the openings to WWF Superstars when they showed a few shots of the city and briefly explained what industry etc was based there. I suppose they had to stop that in 1994/95 when TV started being shot in high school gyms and health clubs.
-
Not sure Jim Ross would want to burn his bridges with the WWE as he still does Network talking heads and whatnot, but he seems to be putting over TNA quite a lot on his recent podcasts.
-
Due to "long play/short play" differences between my VCR and that of the friend who leant me the tape, I had to watch WrestleMania IX in double speed, including audio.
Â
I feel your pain. I often felt I was the only kid at school without a long play VCR. Had a similar experience with Survior Series 92.

To be honest, ITV4 would be massive. I hope they don't go in overcharging though, as I was pretty shocked they were getting $1m a year from Challenge TV. An outlet for Impact on what is essentially terrestrial TV these days, is worth much more to them than the money.Â
