Heyman and JR at the desk for it? Yes please!

The only old school pairing they could come up with these days is Ventura and Vince McMahon or Schiavone. Failing that, Sean (Ian?) Mooney or Okerlund.

  2. Listening to Meltzer, it seems that Alberto el Patron is pretty much done with the company. I previously read the situation as him being stripped of the title and not that he was done completely.

I have mixed feelings on this as while I didn't want him there to begin with and do think he's pretty much a piece of shit outside the ring, his on-screen stuff was much better than anything I ever expected from him. Mind you, if his wages go towards paying for Rey Mysterio etc, its understandable.

  3. I'm not holding my breath, sadly. I was so gutted they didn't go ahead with the '30 years of Wrestlemania' one a few years ago. They just use these battle royals as an excuse to get lower and mid-card fodder on the show these days (i.e wrestlers people have no interest in seeing).

Honestly amazed they haven't approached Schiavone for Impact. Bruce Prichard seemingly got a gig based on his podcast success, but unless he does a shedload behind the scenes, he appears to be a total waste of money. At least Schiavone is a recognisable voice amongst wrestling fans, particularly the ones Impact seems to be aiming for.

I'm also a total Schiavone mark, which may have influenced that opinion.

He is a consultant of some description, so probably helps with the writing etc. Tbh, having competent people behind the scenes who know how to write TV (Cornette, Mantel, Brother Love) is fine by me.

On the subject of legends matches/shows , i quite liked the 'Old School RAW' that they did a couple of times, old graphics, titantron etc and legends popping up in random matches and segments,  you'd think with 3 hour RAWS they would have done more of them

I would definitely watch if they did another of those.

As someone who doesn't watch Raw week to week, and haven't done so regularly for around 7 years now, I do miss the guest hosts. I know they were far from being universally popular, but I remember tuning in specially if there was someone interesting hosting the show, Bob Barker, Jesse Ventura, Piper etc spring to mind.

  6. I happened to randomly watch Slamboree 93 while hungover on Sunday and had forgot how much I liked the 'legends reunite' feel of the shows. Its a shame there's nothing like that these days.

I appreciate there's the Hall of Fame but with all the hoop-la of Wrestlemania, it kind of gets overshadowed. With the amount of Pay Per Views (well, network specials) there are these days, you'd think there'd be more than enough space for a similar PPV with maybe one or two 'legends matches' to boot.

A chance to bring back this classy piece of music too....

Lets say it goes to court and because they paid Dixie's bills for the shows Hardys win. Will Anthem go after Carter for what she sold them (with potential false documents)?

Knowing the state of TNA at the time, I don't doubt for a second that the Hardys paid, out of their own pocket, for at least elements of the show. Truthfully, its fucking scandalous that any of the talent should be paying production or set costs for a show that's televised at all, let alone internationally.

But that's a separate issue altogether to who owns the IP.  I'd be supporting them all the way if they were trying to reclaim their out of pocket expenses or what have you.

Mike Bennett rambling on about late pay issues last night (which whilst correct isn't to do with current owners, shame some sites aren't reporting that). Who pops up and it's Matt Hardy, the same Hardy who was posting his pay slips online and complementing the company for the fantastic relationship 18 months ago.

That's what annoyed me about it tbh. I don't get why, when you've actually left the company, you would want to start firing shots anyway. You're with the world's biggest company now, partially thanks to the exposure you got there and your hot wife that overshadows you, why be petulant?

Its just burning bridges just to pander to a group of online fans who lap up anything that shits on anything non-WWE related (TNA/GFW expecially). You don't gain anything from it whatsoever.

I'm going on my own rant now as well, but there's a shocking amount of replies to Reby/Matt Hardy who come out with rubbish that TNA couldn't afford a court case anyway, obviously unaware of the size of the Anthem operation.

  9. Reby Sky's been ranting and raving again o Twitter. In my book, its all got beyond tiresome by now.

The Hardys have a nice run going in WWE now, both in their 40's, and could probably sign a legends deal any time they wanted. Its pretty obvious the company has no interest in using the gimmick anyway. The WWE usually get what they want, by hook or by crook.

I don't really understand why Nordholm didn't just sell them the IP of the broken universe, but due to her continued petulance, I can't really blame him for digging his heels in now either

I'm starting to agree with those who think this is all bitterness or ego on Reby's behalf that she was being used on TNA TV and while Matt and Jeff have something good, she's not being featured.

Her band of blind #fucktheowl Twitter followers all seem blissfully unaware the team now work for a company that won't allow Cody Rhodes to use his father's ring name he was using for decades before working for Vince, or the Dudley Boys from using a name developed in ECW.

I like that but I would have OCD that some of the tapes are in their cases and some aren't.

Miraculously, considering my mum's legendary clear outs, my VHS tapes remain largely intact. Will never forget coming home from the summer after my first year of university to find my mum had put all my Hasbro's in a bin bag ready to donate to the village school's summer jumble sale. That was a narrow escape.

Thanks btw @FelatioLips, i just did that and it works

Just tried that and it didn't offer me a free month. Mind you, I've lost account of the number of different email addresses I've used by now!

    Morning all!

After reading the scan of the WWF magazine that was put on here, it's got me itching for a bit of nostalgia from when I was younger. I really fancy watching the evolution of Savage into the "Macho King" up to his match with Warrior at 'Mania 7. Where on the Network is it best to start and, more importantly I suppose, will there be the vast majority of shows uploaded from that era?

Sadly, there is no weekly TV from pre-1993 on the Network, apart from the Saturday Night's Main Events. I suggest the Monsoon Classic youtube channel.

  13. As expected, the difference in production values in just 5 weeks from Wrestlemania 1 to the first Saturday Night's Main Event, is pretty staggering tbh. You've gone from a dimly lit MSG, to something we more closely resemble the WWE/F with.

It does make you wonder how much the company has Dick Ebersol/NBC to thank. Pretty funny seeing Kevin Dunn's name on TNT's credits as the assistant director too.

No one is forcing you to listen to them. Choice is always good. I have one regular and one I'll listen to of the guest is interesting. Don't have that time or inclination for any more. Tried a few, didn't love them.

    Exactly.

I've migrated recently from my staples of Austin, JR, etc to the Lapsed Fan and the Place 2be Nation's reviews of older shows, which I'm enjoying at the moment (as far back as 1984).. I have a 50 minute each-way journey to work most days, so I have quite a lot of time during the week.

Other than Bruce Prichard and Schiavone's, which I listen to most weeks, I only really bother with the others if there's a really interesting guest on. There's more than enough podcasts out there to suit everyone's tastes.

A little surprising the WWE, or even GFW, hasn't jumped on the bandwagon.
