What you're all struggling to realize, is that TNA is about to turn the whole thing around and become massive again. Â I mean come on, Matt Hardy is their World Champion. Â Who doesn't want to see that?
Â
I fully recognise that TNA has pretty much fucked up any chance of becoming a major player capable of even challenging the WWE. A decent weekly wrestling show featuring one or two big names is pretty much how low my expectations have fallen.
That said, I don't relish seeing guys like Austin Aries turn up on NXT though. Was a bit gutted about that tbh.

Getting back to some positivity, I think the 3 Pop shows and the PPV have been very entertaining and the best stuff for a long time. The ratings have increased every week too. Hope it continues.
Â
To be honest, I gave up on the 2015 relaunch a few weeks into their Destination America run. But although still very early days, its been a solid start on POP.
Could really have done without the AJ Styles online shenanigans though. Just no need for it.
-
I'm just perplexed that if a deal was signed by both parties, how could the wrestlers withdraw so easily?
-
They'd get slated if they hadn't have tried I suppose. Bit of a damned if they do scenario.
-
Â
What did you guys make of this weeks double turn? Imo they've done the right thing turning Matt he wasn't exactly getting a great reaction however I can't see the EC3 character working as a big babyface
Â
EC3 has none. He's a dick. And while babyfaces are arseholes more often than not lately, they shouldn't set out to be one. So, yeah, TNA fail again.
Â
Â
Bit early to be writing it off just yet eh?

I get the feeling that a few WWF wrestlers resented Mero for being the first wrestler to sign a guaranteed money contract with Vince. I remember Foley mentioning something along those lines in his first book.
-
Has anyone watched yesterday's episode yet? Just wondering if Lawler is a fully fledged heel or not now.Â
-
Seems that TNA finally has a pot to piss in.Â

What's funny about Daniel Bryan's career is, he pretty much said in his book if Heyman and Gabe would have went to TNA, he'd have went with them when he was released in 2010. Its strange how this major star of the last 5 years probably wouldnt have happened if things would have turned out different. Or maybe Heyman and Gabe would have made him a semi-star, like Taz or RVD was in the 90s. That TNA roster in 2010 would have had Bryan, Angle, AJ, Joe, Nigel McGuinness, Okada, Shelley, Sabin, Doug Williams, Roode, Storm, Kaz, Daniels. That would have been a tastey little group for Heyman to play with.
Nice idea for a "what if" thread there, like the one for the relaunched WCW in 2001.

TNA, to me at least, has become a giant dog shit with a real small 1 carat diamond in there somewhere. As you know there is something good inside, and it might even be worth it (to some people).......but you just wouldn't go smashing through a turd for something so small.
Â
i think whats worse than TNA themselves, are the TNA fans STILL clinging on to the facade that everything else in the world is crap and TNA is the best thing around. Dribblers of the highest order.
Â
I know its not en-vogue to stand up for TNA, but wouldn't your first point be just as applicable for every episode of Raw these days? How many segments of a three hour show do you actually enjoy?
Now admittedly I don't watch RAW every week (hell, I don't even watch wrestling at all many weeks) but it only takes a cursory glance at the Raw thread to gather that the show is pretty shit at the moment. Mainstream wrestling is on its arse no matter what the company.
Â
I'd like to know who these people are who are claiming TNA to be so brilliant though. For the past two years I've hardly seen a positive word said about TNA on the web.
-
Not a bad show, perfectly watchable which is about the only think I ask for in wrestling these days.
I must say that I do like Eric Young's character at the moment and as you said, Mike Bennett's debut came across as a pretty big deal.
Â
I was thinking to myself that Angle's departure might open up the purse strings a little, but what big names are out there? The WWE only seem to release the NXT guys or total bottom of the card jobbers, as everyone is so desperate to keep their job there. Its not like it was in 2002 when you had all the big names from WCW that Vince didn't pick up.

New opening video/ theme revealed looks pretty sweet imo http://www.tnawrestlingnews.com/headlines/video-the-new-impact-wrestling-opening-revealed/
Â
I haven't watched the show yet, but that intro works by means of making me want to watch it. So it must be the case that its pretty good.

You want to hear me reminiscing about the Savage-Roberts feud for nearly an hour? You're in luck.

Ideal, that's my listen for the commute home sorted!Â

Randomly enough, my abiding memory of Sunday Night Heat is the Headbangers wearing massive fake boobs after Thrasher had returned from a long-term injury. Â This was after Mosh's wife beater run as Chaz.
-
I loved the LOD growing up but bloody hell, the no selling was a bit ott at times wasn't it?
Randomly watching the Raw episode after Cold Day in Hell 97, and Hawk gets straight up after PG-13 give him a spike piledriver. I know it was only PG-13 and no selling a clothesline is fine, but a spike piledriver?
-
I mean 1990 really, before everyone got Sky in 1992. I doubt the WWF was ever as popular as it was in 92 (and yes that includes the Attitude era).
-
McGregor and the UFC are operating on a whole different mainstream level to Sheamus and WWE these days.
Â
I honestly don't think the WWE has been as unpopular this side of the Atlantic since the very early 90's.
-
What I'm disappointed about is the lack of WWF weekly tv (bar the Prime Time Wrestling episodes) from the pre-1993 period.
It would be nice to have the whole run of WWF Superstars episodes on there and they would only be 40 mins long so a handy bite sized watch.
-
Â
Yup, me too. My Dad couldn't understand why Randy Savage used Land of Hope and Glory in the game when he was American.
Â
That was the legendary Christmas when I got Legion of Doom, Hulk Hogan and Sgt Slaughter action figures as well as that ring with the American flag in the corner. My gran had also picked up a Honky Tonk Man action figure with German packaging which she'd bought from god knows where in Birkenhead while on a Xmas shopping trip.
Â
I couldn't tell you who the Intercontinental Champion is right now, but 1992 is still as vivid as ever.
-
Maybe if they did a little less of them though and lightened the schedule, you might see a healthier roster with less miles on their bodies.
Â
To be fair, the schedule is fuck all compared to what it once was though.
-
The 1988 WWF KC timeline with Jim Duggan has a line that just had me laughing out loud.
Â
"On the live satellite feed of the Royal Rumble, you could hear Vince McMahon yelling "Stop looking like a fucking stone and show some interest in the matches" at Howard Finkel."
-
It would be interesting to note if the house show profit takes into the consideration the money spent on the wages of the wrestlers, ring crew etc.Â
Judging by the profit made elsewhere, the WWE could happily continue as a part-time outfit with the talent only working PPVs and TV.

I hate when they talk about the streak in serious terms.
Like Arn Anderson compAring it to 20 superbowls. Its nothing of the sort.
Undertaker won because WWE booked him to win, the way they go in and out of kayfabe when talking about it with the Undertaker just makes it really silly
Â
Agree totally, they do something like state how legitmate something like the Streak is/was for the sake of Kayfabe, but on other programmes freely admit the likes of Kane used to be Isaac Yankem etc..
Â
I don't even like it when they compare it to the Superbowl tbh. Even though American Football is just bleurgh over here, I can't imagine many people in the USA aren't aware of when the Superbowl is going on. For a start, its on proper telly and not being streamed over the internet or on PPV.
Filling an American Football stadium once a year isn't the same thing.
-
The streak is, at least partially, an accident of history though isn't it? I wonder how close he was to ending up on the losing end of the booker's pencil at one of his early to middling Wrestlemanias? (Before people even noticed he had a streak going on.)
Snuka was a glorified jobber in '91 and the Snake was on the way out in 1992, so those were never in question.
I suppose Giant Gonzales was the one that came closest, but I don't suppose they would ever have booked Taker to lose clean.
Maybe Wrestlemania 13 if the wind had been blowing in a different direction? Facing Sid for the title was a bit of a last minute thing wasn't it?Â
Wrestlemania 17 vs Triple H must have been a close run thing though.

I don't doubt Austin Aries is delighted to have a chance in the WWE. But seeing as I watch Impact more often that I do NXT, Austin Aries was one of my favourites. Pure selfishness on my part.
