  1. Ahh thank you. I will avoid Snackverse.

Snackd does look decent, I like that they list the ingredients of stuff in the boxes so I can be confident that stuff is vegetarian. They don't say that they attempt to make the boxes veggie friendly but I guess I can always share with Mr Deathrey and he can eat the non-veggie stuff.

Now.... Should I finish my Mini Eggs before I order?

  2. @SuperBaconis it the snack verse box that you get/have gotten? It showed up on my Instagram feed today and I'm tempted as they say they try to keep the boxes vegetarian which is rare. Are they any good?

  3. @RedRooster Based on your reviews, I bought some of the Leithal Hot sauces for my husband and brother for Christmas. I got them The Ocean Terminator and The Swanny Bomb. Not tried the later yet but The Ocean Terminator is lovely. I didn't really find it hot at all to be honest but it has a lovely flavour and has become a permanent fixture in cheese toasties from now on so thanks.

I used to live walking distance (and now about 20 mins driving distance) from The Hyde Park Picture House in Leeds. It’s a grade 2 listed building, a refurbished single screen cinema with most of its original features intact. it It originally opened in 1914. Last surviving gaslit cinema in the UK. The street lamp outside is also gas lit and is also protected.

It closed for some much needed maintenance and repair during the pandemic but has thankfully reopened. Any time it closes for a bit people panic and think it’s shutting down,  but it receives Heritage Lottery funding along with other support and donations and thankfully remains wetherspoons-proof.

It is the most delightful cinema experience, also has very cheap tickets. Often shows very odd indie and art house movies. Was my go-to spot for the Leeds International Film Festival too. It’s a magical place.

Hyde Park Picture house is an absolute gem. Long may is stand and continue to operate as a cinema. Did you see their social media during the refurb? They detailed lots of stuff throughout but the most fascinating for me was the stuff, essentially rubbish, that they found stuffed behind the seats and the such. Chocolate wrappers from 70 years ago, old crisp packaging, it was like a little history in litterform!

  5. I remember seeing on a cooking show that freezing Mini Eggs and then putting them in to a brownie batter and in to the oven makes the best Mini Eggs brownie because they stay in tact and kind of crispy.  I've never tried it, but I might this year given the large amount of Mini Eggs I now have.

The chocolate orange Mini Eggs are also great in case anyone was wondering.

  6. I can understand the lure of putting them in the fridge, if they get warm, you don't get that satisfying crack when you bite in to the shell. Currently, no fridge is needed. They are in the garage so I don't eat them all at once and have to make an effort to get them (not much mind, I don't actually have to go outside to get in the garage). It's bloody freezing in there at the moment, probably colder than the fridge.

That foreseeable future for me would be about an hour.

I went in the shop specifically to buy them as it's been a shitter of a couple of days, the man behind the till gave me a right look..... I'll still go back for more when I run out.

Did she ever advise putting ghee on your baby's anus? As that was the home remedy mine advised for constipation...

That's hilarious. Mine didn't but she did tell me to drink it in milk for a month leading up to me giving birth as it would make it easier so I'm guessing its a similar 'science'? I think the reaction she would have anticipated from me probably scared her off suggesting it for constipation.

Some absolute wrongun on that Dull Men's Club the other day was trying to advocate for a spoonful of BUTTER in coffee.

Please don't let anyone from here out themselves with similar. I'm having a bad enough day as it is.

Was it my mum by any chance? This is an old Indian woman's remedy to everything, rather clarified butter than regular butter but put it in any hot drink containing milk and it is apparently the answer to pretty much any health problem. Diabetes? Butter in hot milk. Cold? Butter in hot milk. Sore throat? Butter in hot milk. Arthritis? Butter in hot milk. Add a bit of tumeric and it will turn you in to an invincible God.

@deathrey Tom actually wrote some Busted songs, Year 3000 and Crashed The Wedding, so obviously they’re the best ones. He wrote for One Direction as well!

I didn't know that he had written for One Direction, they also have some great pop songs, particularly the later stuff whilst Zayn was still there.  I'll have to look up what he was responsible for.

I still think Busted are shit.

  11. I think I've said this before but I really bloody love McFly. They have some absolute bangers and are masters of their genre. It confuses me when I see people go on about how wonderful Busted were because frankly, their music was shit, but McFly are genuinely a really talented band and as @Scratchsaid, seem like really lovely blokes.

  12. @BigJag It's a sad state of affairs. The first mistake was trusting the Indian government to do anything, especially something that is just and fair. They don't even feel the need to keep up the pretence for the general population as they don't care what the electorate think.

I hope it doesn't stop people from coming forward in the future and maybe India can be shamed in to taking action.

Danny especially. That's going to be a proper gut punch. I hope I get offered an egg in that trying time when it happens.

A slight aside, but my brother requested some art work for his house for Christmas and on my search, I found ou there is a surprising amount of Frank Reynolds influenced artwork available, I highly recommend Googling it.

  14. Oh, I forgot Sir Patrick Stewart, we are from the same town and he is a local legend, I won't hear a bad word said against him and he is most definitely put on a pedestal. Other than Harold Wilson (and more recently Jodie Whittaker and Lena Heady) there are no other famous people from my town.

  15. Completely agree with those who have said Sir Alex Ferguson. I have no real interest in football anymore and haven't really had any interest in it for the last 15 years or so, but that loss will definitely be felt. The word 'icon' and the term 'G.O.A.T' are thrown around a lot nower days and awarded quite lightly to people but I think Sir Alex is a genuine contender for both of those terms.

I adore both Mike Patton and Eric Cantona and will mourn both massively when they pass but hopefully that day is very far away.

  16. I'm also glad to see the back of 2023, on the whole it's been a complete garbage fire of a year and 2024 looks to be shaping up to be a difficult one too.

This place is always a nice little welcome break from reality and you guys always put a little smile on my face. All the best to you wonderful lot for 2024.
