Couldn't escape the fucker last weekend.
He was on DAZN's coverage for Canelo vs BJS too.

We’ll get all the prelims on iPlayer right?
Aye.
GAD opened the prelims last weekend.

Shabily's fight is still happening according to Tapology's listings.
And Davis posted about the fight only yesterday - https://www.instagram.com/p/COvRdxeJuxl/
So I have a bit of hope that it is an error.

He has never lived the life. Even 7 years ago when he was in his early 20’s he struggled to keep Eubank of him. Eubank who was/is a novis.
This is true. He barely trained for the Eubank fight apparently.

Nice card.
Really looking forward to Shabliy's Bellator debut.

Just about to post that.
Rumble has always been an asshole, so I am not really surprised that he's been arrested again.
Anyway, Rumble's arrest possibly opens the door for Nemkov vs Anglickas. Or perhaps even Nemkov vs Romero if the latter can get medical clearance.

Bjorn Ebbney
I prefer him to Dane "F'n" White.

Coker is considering doing a Bantamweight GP:
Quote“The (next) grand prix hasn’t been determined, but what I will say is if you look at the quality of fighters in this division, it’s stacked,. I think of fighters like Magomed Magomedov. I think about the two gentlemen, (Pettis and Archuleta), who just fought tonight. I think about (former champion) Kyoji Horiguchi coming in.
“And when you start stacking this division and all the young talent we have coming up, it’s going to be a formidable division. And whether it’s our tournament or not, that’s undetermined. We’re focusing on the light heavyweight tournament right now, and we’ll decide what we do maybe come September.”

I’ll say this though, the DAZN commentators can get right in the bin with that ‘quit’ talk.
Grisham is the drizzling shits in general.
Kate Abdo is delightful though.
Anyway, I had Canelo up by 1 point at the time of the stoppage. I had Canelo winning rounds 2,3,4 and 8 and BJS winning 5,6 and 7. I scored the opener even. It was a really fun bout while it lasted.

Found it. Turns out it’s Gregor Babene vs Brandon Farran from Bellator 150. Never heard of either of them.

Ahhh, I stand corrected.

@jimufctna24 or @Egg Shen while I’m here, I thought you’d be the best to ask which Bellator fight is this from? Saw it on Twitter earlier and cracked up.
You can just about make out the Bellator 158 logo on the cage.
So I am going to guess it's Francis Carmont vs Lukasz Klinger

Last night laid the table for some cracking fights down the line:
Amosov/Lima vs MVP
Nemkov vs Rumble (this one is set in stone)
Pettis vs Horiguchi
-
I've decided to order it myself. It's worth paying £2 to avoid streaming lag.

I’m pretty sure I read that Coker already said he’s not interested in signing Diego the other day.
With Sanchez and Bonnar both joining Fabia's cult, I wonder who could be next to join?
Mike Swick?
Jason Thacker?
Sam Hoger?
-
I haven't been following this closely.
Is Fabia a legit nutcase or a conman?
Or both?
-
I'm well up for Horiguchi vs Pettis.

Anyone seen much of Frank Sanchez on the undercard?
I saw him on the undercard of Canelo vs Smith.
He's nothing special imo.

My prediction:
Canelo will win handily on points. BJS will be competitive in 3 or 4 rounds, but will only win 2 or 3 of them tops
@Davidwill turn up on Monday morning (he rarely posts at the weekend), and proclaim a moral victory because BJS went the distance and thus did better than most expected.

Just a reminder:

I love stuff like this. There's such a wealth of design aesthetics out there that can be used, so why not use them more frequently?
That said, whilst this is more Grecian than Roman, this would really suit Bellator better, just given their name.
Despite their name, I'd rather Bellator steer away from the while Glecian/Roman theme.
"Gladiator Man" used to be a central part of the UFC's opening video packages for PPVs. And truth be told, it was a bit naff. Bellator doesn't need to be copying them and coming across even more as a cheap imitation.
-
I feel bad for those who used to enjoy the Euro series. Still, I prefer Bellator's new approach - fewer shows, stacked cards, etc.
Bellator does not have the roster to put on high-quality shows on a regular basis. So if the European expansion continued we would probably end up with frequent, yet weak, shows again.
-
The prelims are actually really good for Bellator's standards. Storley, Mix, Stots and Larkin are all well worth watching.
As for the main card:
MVP is a better fighter than some give him credit for, but I still don't give a toss about him. The lesser Pitbull brother should have a fun scrap with the SBG dude. I actually want Rumble to beat the dude from Pitbull's camp. Only because he would face Nemkov next, and would be a good name to add to Vadim's record. The main event should be a lot of fun too.
So yeah, even with the withdrawals, it's still a great card.
Canelo vs Saunders - May 8 🥊 🇲🇽 🇬🇧

Canelo has had issues with slick boxers in the past, such as Mayweather and southpaws such as Lara. Moreover, BJS's best performance to date came against Lemieux, who similar to Canelo is a pressure fighter. Therefore, while David's prediction of a knockout victory for BJS was daft, I can kinda understand why some gave BJS a chance to win on points.
However, this line of thinking ignored that while there are similarities between Canelo and Lemieux's styles, Canelo's operates at a much higher level. Furthermore, Canelo is a different beast in 2021 to the version who boxed Lara and Mayweather years ago.
This breakdown by Mateusz Fenrych is really insightful - https://www.thefight-site.com/home/canelo-alvarez-vs-billy-joe-saunders-breakdown
TLDR: BJS had his best moments when he remembered that he wasn't boxing in a phone booth. However, Canelo was never flustered and capitalised when BJS went back to trying to tightly pivot around his hips.
