  1. Coker confirmed over the weekend that they will book an interim HW title fight while Bader competes in the LHW GP.

I assume Moldavsky, Tim Johnson and Fortune will all be in contention to fight for the interim belt. I would add Minakov's name to that list, but I am not sure if he will ever return to Bellator or not.

And aye, Bellator's HW division is a bit grim.

I still have trouble with Vegas odds.

If I'm reading this right, you have to spend $130 to win $100 on Jake Paul, and you get $110 back if you bet $100 on Askren?

    That is my understanding, yes.

In general i think Bellator's rankings need to be taken with a pinch of salt at the moment. I think it'll take a couple of years for the divisions to truly sort themselves out.

Lightweight is arguably Bellator's weakest division though. Doesnt help that the belt is being held up by Pitbull either.

    Aye, that's my impression too.

If this article from Danny Martin is anything to go by Shabliy is probably the best LW in Bellator - https://www.thefight-site.com/home/lessons-to-learn-alexandr-peresvet-shabliy

Can't wait for him to debut.

  4. Machida's striking was giving Bader all sorts of issues during the opening few rounds, partially because Bader was having issues with Machida's speed. It was only when Bader got his wrestling game going, and sapped Machida of his stamina, that the fight swung in his direction.

Thus, I think Nemkov is an absolute nightmare match-up for Bader at 205lbs. Not only does he have the speed, skills and power to trouble Bader in the striking department, he also has the grappling game to shut down Bader's wrestling. Bader's only chance would be if Nemkov faded in the later rounds.

Borics would be a fun fight for the winner of McKee vs Pitbull.

  5. Coker said last weekend that we would soon hear something about Lima's next title defence. I was a bit worried that MVP would get the title shot over Amosov.

    But this Tweet sounds promising:

For anyone wondering why I get such a hard-on over Amosov, I highly recommend watching his fight with Storley, which I have linked below. Keep in mind, that Ed Gallo (The Fight Site's wrestling expect) accurately predicted beforehand that Storley would be a tougher match-up for Amosov than Ruth. Gallo argued that Storley's style of wrestling has translated to MMA better than Ruth. Storley's takedowns are more intentional, and when he gets his opponent to the mat he is generally better than Ruth at keeping them there.

Yet, Amosov was able to comprehensively shutdown Storley's wrestling for the first 2 rounds, and also managed to do so for much of the third round. Granted, Storley did rally late at the end of the 3rd frame and almost submitted Amosov, but over the 15 minutes I think Amosov more than did enough to deserve the decision. I genuinely think that Amosov is the best wrestler at 170lbs with the exception of Usman, and will have few issues with Lima who I think is made for him style wise.

This card is pretty loaded througout the prelims. Im not sure what happpened to this weekends 256 card, they've neglected that one a bit.

    Agreed.

I think the Saul Rogers vs. Mads Burnell fight was meant to be on either the 255 or 256 card, but was pushed back to this card for some reason.

This card has also lost Romero vs Rumble and Pico, so it could have been even more stacked.
