  1. For what it's worth, Josh Taylor says that the McGuigans are very knowledgeable about boxing and are good at getting their boxers decent fights. He also says that Shane is a good trainer (although, some of the McGuigan's training methods are not conductive to a long a career according to Frampton)

It's everything else that's the problem apparently.

    Fuck that.

Nemkov/Davis is a rematch from 2018, i dont recall the bout of the top of my head but Nemkov won it via split decision.

The decision was fair imo. Nemkov won rounds 1 and 2, but got tired in round 3 and allowed Davis to take over.

Nemkov reasoned in an interview recently that he gassed out because he committed to a slam in the second round and this drained his reserves. He says he's since learned to manage his gas tank more efficiently. Still, cardio is still the biggest question mark lingering over Nemkov and has been since his Rizin days.

Davis' body isn't what it used to be at 36. He therefore doesn't grapple in fights as much as he used to. That bodes well for Nemkov, as I don't think Davis is likely to beat him in a straight striking battle.

I'll be shitting myself on the night, but fuck it, Nemkov to win on points.

This is easily my favourite MMA photo of recent times:

Why’s this on so late? ONE cards usually go down in the afternoon, don’t they? Early hours on a Wednesday night/Thursday morning is shite.

Possibly to accommodate their new TV deal with TNT?

Rumor going around is that he will bin off Sky and move exclusively with DAZN in this country, with Kalle Sauerland and his new partnership with Wasserman moving onto Sky.

Adam Catterall's feeling is that Matchroom fight night type shows (like this weeks Benn/Vargas show) will move to DAZN and the bigger shows will still run through Sky on a PPV format.

I think the latter is more likely.

Although I like the idea of Sauerland becoming a big player in UK boxing.

  5. They have released quite a few European fighters over the past few days. So it looks like they will be scaling back the Euro Series series. Makes sense, given that they plan to only run 2 shows per month from now on.

Also, Julius Anglickas, Steve Mowry, and Karl Albrektsson vs Viktor Nemkov have all been added to next week's card. Can we just skip to that card already please?

The prelim card here looks real thin but imagine there's some proper prospects sprinkled in there, ill do some research.

From what I've read, Law and Lugo are the standouts prospects on the prelim card.

I have seen Rosa fight before. He fought on the undercard of the Mousasi vs Lima card last year.  Yet I can't remember anything about him.

    Main Card

205 lbs.: Ryan Bader (27-6, 1 NC) vs. Lyoto Machida (26-10)

125 lbs.: Liz Carmouche (14-7) vs Vanessa Porto (22-8)

145 lbs.: Cat Zingano (11-4) vs. Olivia Parker (4-1)

155lbs Dan Moret (14-6) vs. Goiti Yamauchi (25-4)

145 lbs.: Adam Borics (16-1) vs. Jeremy Kennedy (16-2)

    Prelims

125 lbs.: Diana Asaragova (2-0) vs. Tara Graff (1-2)

135 lbs.: Cass Bell (5-1) vs. Jornell Lugo (5-0)

155 lbs.: Nainoa Dung (3-2) vs. Izzy William (4-3-0)

185 lbs.: Dalton Rosta (4-0) vs. Tony Johnson (9-0)

135 lbs.: Jaylon Bates (1-0) vs. Jeffrey Glossner (2-1)

145 lbs.: Talita Nogueira (7-2) vs. Jessica Borga (3-2)

135 lbs.: John Douma (4-2) vs. Will Smith (3-2)

145lbs: Cody Law (2-0) vs. Nathan Ghareeb (2-0)

This one does little for me on paper. Bader, Borics, Yamauchi, and Lugo are the only fighters on the card that I find somewhat interesting.

    Anyway, discuss away.

  8. Apparently Thomson kinda leaked that Lima will defend his WW belt against Amosov next and that Mousasi will defend his MW title against Tokov.

I am convinced that Amosov will smash Lima. I think Amosov is easily in the top 5 fighters on Bellator's roster and will prove it over the next 18 months or so. Joey Davis is the only Welterweight that Bellator has under contract that I worry about Amosov facing in the future.

Not sure how to read Moose vs Tokov.

Oh, and it looks like a LW GP might be in the works, which is daft considering it is one of Bellator's weaker divisions:

  9. Can it also be said that the Mauro/Big John combo were a massive upgrade over the Big John/Goldie/Thomson trio?

Pitbull really impressed me last night. I expected him to win, but not via stoppage in the first round. Sanchez had never been stopped prior to last night and had looked really good against Weichel. I've only followed Bellator properly for 3 years or so. But in that time, McKee vs Pitbull is easily the biggest fight they've hosted. Can't wait for it!

Elsewhere, my highlights were Magomedov looking like a beast and Jackson getting a gift from the judges against Gracie (I had Gracie winning 29-28).

  10. Out of the three remaining in the FW GP, McKee is easily my favourite, but I prefer Sanchez to Pitbull. Yet I want Pitbull to win this evening. It would feel like something had been lost if Pitbull vs McKee didn't meet in the final. Pitbull fully deserved the number 1 spot in Bellator's P4P rankings and is probably the best fighter in the promotion's history. By contrast, McKee is easily the fastest rising American fighter in Bellator and a bloody exciting one at that! It's therefore the best fight Bellator has to offer between two home-grown talents. As good of a fighter as Sanchez is; a McKee vs Sanchez final just wouldn't have the same buzz to it.

Elsewhere, I am looking forward to seeing Khabib's cousin, Gonzalez, and Magomedov showcase their ability. I also have my fingers crossed that Jackson will beat Gracie. The heavyweight fight on the main card doesn't interest me because Fortune has looked average at best in his last 3 outings, which is a shame because I had high hopes for him at one point.

Oh, and I can't wait to hear Mauro commentate for 5 hours straight.
