Seriously, Jan has made fools of many over the past year or so.
Me included.

The other thing to bear in mind is that Diaz is from that previous generation of MMA fighters - even by the time he'd got to the UFC, the game had pretty much left him behind. Nate seemed to adapt to the times a bit better, but Nick actually seemed determined not to evolve.
Do you mean his second run in the UFC?
I've always been a fan of Nick's. He's a tosser, but quite a likeable tosser. However, the success he had between 2007 and 2011 was a product of clever match making. Elite XC, Dream and Strikeforce mostly matched him against fighters who weren't going to grapple with him.
So it wasn't that the game all of a sudden passed him by when he returned to the UFC. It was more that he had a built up an aura elsewhere through favourable match-ups. Even the UFC kept him away from grapplers for the most part, instead booking him against Condit, Penn and Anderson Silva. He struggled throughout his career against those who can take him down and control him (Sean Sherk, GSP, etc)

Jiri is the bookies favorite which shows how much Reyes stock has fallen since that Jones fight. If this straight after the Jones fight, Reyes would have been a heavy favorite. Its an interesting fight, if Reyes' confidence is shot to bit he may be in for a shitty night, Jiri is a wildman.
Reyes, despite his unimpressive record, is a talented fighter for a light heavyweight. He is a much better fighter than Gusty ever was and also the only fighter who clearly beat Jones imo. I think he was all wrong for Jones really. He's a good kicker which as Santos showed Jones struggles with, he's a good counter striker which exploited how uncomfortable Jones is when opponents fire strikes after he throws kicks, and he was also tall/rangy enough to work around Jones's stiff-arm/framing.
Jiri is a different kettle of fish altogether. He's very hittable as Oezdemir and the rematch with King Mo showed. He was losing both of those fights, but eventually found a way to score the knockout.
Based on nothing but a hunch, I think Reyes either scores the stoppage or wins a lopsided decision. Hopefully Jiri sparks him though.

This is the fight I am looking forward to most this weekend.
I want Jiri to win because he's so much fun to watch. But I am leaning towards picking Reyes. Jiri is a knockout waiting to happen really.

90s Gen-X stoner culture cartoons have had so much influence on us. Nick clearly wanted to be Boomhauer when he grew up.
More Beavis and Butthead.
Still love him though.

Surely booking Nick against Masvidal makes the most sense? The UFC could draw off the whole "BMF" thing and Masvidal beating Nick's brother. They could perhaps even book the winner to fight McGregor in the future, especially if McGregor wants to stick around after DP beats him again.
As for Chimaev, I just want to see him fight someone in the top 5 or 10 so we can get a better read on how good he is. If he did fight Diaz, it wouldn't really answer any questions. Even in his prime Nick wouldn't be able to do much against most of the current top Welterweights, especially grapplers like Usman, Covington and Amosov.

Sergei vs Mike Cook
(Cook was McSweeney's replacement)

Mad Man Fitz should be the headliner.

Ideally, I would like to see Usman fight Thompson next. At least that would be a fresh match-up.
A rematch with Covington does little for me beyond seeing Colby take another pasting. I can only see Usman winning again, but more decisively.

So McGregor is now copying and pasting Ebb's posts?

Usman 😊
Weidman ☹️

Dana said that Covington is getting the next title shot.
I wouldn't be shocked if they try and book Nick vs Masvidal in the future though.

I have little interest in the PFL, but......................................
They have pulled a blinder by having Couture on commentary. He's an excellent announcer and should really be commentating for either the UFC or Bellator.

I remember asking this question a couple of months back, wondering if BJS was being overlooked in the same way Fury was leading up to his match with Klitschko. And Fury was possibly seen as more of a joke than BJS was at the time.
A few differences.
1) Fury's career was on the rise as he had just absolutely rinsed Chisora and Christian Hammer. By contrast, Saunders looked mediocre against Murray and was given a lot of issues by Coceres before stopping him in round 10.
2) While the majority of pundits picked Wladamir to beat Fury, there was a minority who not only accurately predicted that Fury would win but how he would do it. The predicted that Fury's unconventional style would flummox Wlad and make him gun-shy. And it did just that! I am yet to hear a convincing argument to explain why Saunders can beat Canelo.

doesnt ring a bell?
I know we talked about him a few weeks back.
But I swear Wand mentioned him long before that.

Shabliy is now fighting Alfie Davis in May. I assume Primus is injured.
@wandshogun09 was it you who mentioned Shabliy a few months back and how you wished he'd signed with the UFC as originally planned? Or am I thinking of another Russian/ACA fighter?

I know it was a legitimate fight, but it was still a farce.
Briggs had a previous brain injury that left him physically and mentally unwell. He shouldn't have been in the ring.

The fights always seem to end in round 1 too 😄
Very generous:

They're both gobshites. So I will be happy whichever way it goes really.
Can't see BJS winning more than 3 rounds. He's never looked particularly impressive at Super-Middleweight.

Huh, Warren called this on IFL a few days ago:

Just a reminder that a massive part of the Diaz brothers' charm is getting grapplefucked for 3 rounds then moaning afterwards that their opponent didn't come to fight.
Nah, Bellator would probably book Diaz against some jobber that nobody has even heard of.
