  1. Predictable.

    Regarding this:

    Quote

Saunders has claimed that Canelo's choice to use a ring with dimensions between 16-20ft is not befitting of a world super-middleweight championship unification fight.

Mayweather used to require that his opponents box him in rings between 23ft and 26ft. This obviously limited Mayweather's opponents potential to ring-cut and trap him against the ropes, which was one the best gameplans to implement against him. Castillo and Madiana had the most success against Mayweather partially because they used a diverse array of attacks to put him on the back foot and then up against the ropes.

By asking Saunders to fight in a smaller right, Canelo is doing the same as Mayweather, just in reverse. The smaller the ring, the less space there will be for Saunders to run and the easier it will be for Canelo to pressure him/back him up against the ropes.

Yet, I have less of an issue with Canelo's request. Should welterweights and middleweights really be boxing in 20ft + rings that are designed for heavyweights?

And yes, I know that Saunders' camp are merely playing mind games. I just don't like their arguments.

  2. Larkin was initially scheduled to fight Costello van Steenis. So we could have had a main card consisting of:

    Archuleta vs Pettis

    Romero vs Rumble

    Gallagher vs Mix

    Larkin vs Van Steenis.

    ☹️

Still, should be a decent card. Looking forward to finding out who will be Nemkov's bitch later in the summer.

This question is going to cause some eye-rolling, but can anyone tell me why Chisora is still considered to be worth watching, and Dillian Whyte considered to be a hype-job, when Chisora has ten losses on his record, with few wins over outright elites, and Whyte has only two losses on his record, and one of them avenged?

    People generally love heavyweights.

And Del Boy is a big personality who has been around for yonks.

He was actually planning to as well. I remember he was on Rogan’s podcast years ago and was saying he was in talks to fight Ken Shamrock again around that time, which makes sense why that would entice Bas out of retirement seeing as he was down 0-2 to Kenny from their Pancrase days. He also said he was trying to convince Pride to book him vs Wanderlei on that big Pride/K-1 supershow in the summer of 2002 (the show which had Big Nog vs Sapp and Cro Cop vs Sakuraba) but nothing ended up coming of it and Wand was given some nobody to smash up instead.

Bas was always teasing comebacks. Even as far back as Pride 2 or 3 in about 98, he was teasing coming back to face Randy Couture and Rickson Gracie. After all those names being thrown around, when he eventually did return as a one off and it was against Warpath, it was kind of cool but meant nothing. I think he was genuine in his hopes to fight all these names as well but either Pride had other plans at those times and Bas himself had a ton of injuries piling up as well I think.

Aye, Bas chased Rickson for years. Here he is calling Rickson out in 1998 just before he switched to the UFC - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPsgNIdvpe0&list=PLLmI9jPjzJeOREIS06Q_QLLaparTScwRr&index=31&ab_channel=OfficialBasRutten

I think you are right though, he did tease fighting Rickson again after he retired in 1999. He mentions in this article that the fight almost happened in Pride - https://www.bjjee.com/bjj-news/bas-rutten-i-regret-having-never-faced-rickson-gracie/

The Shamrock story rings a bell now come to think of it. I didn't know he had teased a fight with Randy though. Randy would have probably beaten him.
