  1. No way should Amosov be ranked below Bader and Mousasi in the P4P rankings based on recent form.

MVP is too high up in the Welterweight rankings. Jackson has better wins.

I assume Tokov has been removed from the MW rankings based on inactivity (he has visa issues).

Provided the rankings are based on opposition beaten within Bellator, I have Pitbull at number 1 p4p, then Amosov, then Nemkov, Pettis and McKee. Although Burnell, Shabliy, and Magomedov are probably just as good as some of those guys and will probably climb the rankings drastically in the next year or so. Corey Anderson could be in the mix also if he wins the Grand Prix.

Edit: Pitbull vs McKee and Stots vs Magomedov are confirmed for July 31st. Sweet!

    * was a bit down on the main event, felt abit like an old Anderson Silva defence when he was in with someone beneath him. The commentary was praising Adesanya to the heavens but i was a bit underwhelmed. I think Izzy just got into a groove and stayed there, outside of the leg kicks he did little real damage to Marvin, the stats kind of reflect that too, the leg kicks were the significant factor here.

    This.

I'm really looking forward to Whittaker vs Izzy 2 though.

  3. Dana apparently said over the weekend that Usman vs Covington 2 is still next.

Meh, I would rather see Usman fight Wonderboy or Chimaev next. Usman hasn't fought a striker like Wonderboy before. Whereas a bout between Usman and Chimarv would be fun because of the daft hype that surrounds Chimaev. Obviously, I think Usman smashes both, but at least they would be fresh match-ups

I'm not really interested in Usman rematching Covington or Edwards. I can't see either of them faring any better against Usman that they did the first time round. I am pretty certain Usman beats Edwards up and stops him late once Edwards runs out of gas, and that Usman sparks Covington out again but quicker.

  4. Cheers Wand, was just about to bump this thread.

Rizin 28 took place earlier today. Mikuru Asakura was upset in the main event.

Souza also submitted Musayev to win Rizin's LW crown. It was Musayev who won Rizin's LW GP in late 2019. Elsewhere, Kai Asakura advanced to the semi-final stage of Rizin's BW GP.

Sadly, I didn't watch any of it. I have fallen out of touch with Rizin lately, and the UFC/Bellator cards overshadowed their show this weekend. I'll try and watch the next edition of their Confessions series to get back up to speed.

Looks like mother nature has caught up with Semtex, as it was pretty sad that it looked like he didnt really have much threat even when the fight was standing.

Daley has always struggled with wrestlers. I'm not sure what Bellator were thinking matching him with Jackson.

Lima got outclassed in the wrestling, showed no urgency when the fight was standing or when he was on the ground. A recipe for a 50-45 loss. The strange thing is, even though he won very convincingly, it was nowhere near a star making or 'wow' performance in my opinion. Maybe because it was a very dull fight, but Im not excited at all to see what Amosov does next.

That's Lima for you. He is far too passive and doesn't throw with another volume.

Amosov's fights aren't usually that boring. His grappling match with Storley last November was tons of fun, and he looked like a monster again Lemminger last summer.

  6. Hearn showed Kugan the line-up for his summer cards a few weeks back on IFL. Kugan made out that they were mind-blowing.

The cards were leaked earlier this week and they are exactly the same standard as Hearn's shows on Sky.

So either Kugan is easily pleased or a lot of the fights fell through. I am leaning towards the former.

Of course, Jones vacating left a massive void.

Funnily enough, I don't think it was clear who the best 205lbs fighter was even before Jones vacated. Jones had hardly impressed since the Gusty fight and most fans felt he lost against Santos and Reyes. Thus, the division was wide open by early 2020. Bader was just one of numerous fighters that people suspected could be the best of the bunch.

I also don't think the UFC's 205lbs division has got any better since Bader left. Jones has regressed for numerous reasons, Santos did naff all at middleweight, Smith didn't do much at middleweight either, Glover is the same as ever but older, Gusty was never anything to write home about, etc.

Granted, Jan's improvement and the emergence of Jiri has made the division more interesting over the past year or so. Therefore, I don't think the 2021 version of Bader would waltz through it or anything. But I do think he would be a contender.

I’d say Reyes’ razor close loss to Jones was better than any of Bader’s wins at 205.

    Agreed.

If Bader had beaten Nemkov, you could have perhaps made a case for him. Alas, he didn't.

I do think Bader has improved a bit since then. Imo, Bader would get his wrestling going and win a dull decision. Again, I don't Glover has improved over the years, he's just taken advantage of the falling standards at 205lbs. To get a title shot before 2018, he would need to beat Rumble or Corey Anderson. To get his title shot against Jan, he beat Santos (post knee injury version) and Smith.

Anyway, we will find out if Bader has what it takes to be a top contender at 205lbs when he fights Corey Anderson in a few months time.

  8. It's funny how perceptions change.

Last summer when Jones vacated some were pushing for Bader to be ranked number 1 at 205lbs. Then Nemkov smashed him and his stock plummeted.

I'm not sure how he'd fare against Jiri, Reyes and Jan. But I think he'd beat Glover and probably Santos too.
