Eddie Hearn has had a cracking week. 

Ignore.

The Euro Series should be really good this year. Especially since they are now running fewer shows.

They have enough quality talent under contract to run some very good shows in the UK, Ireland, etc. They have Mousasi, Gallagher, MVP, Mads Burnell, Fabian Edwards, Soren Bak, Adam Borics, Saul Rogers, Brett Johns, Costello van Steenis, and quite a few more decent European fighters.

Coker also still plans to run a show in Russia at some point this year. Fedor and/or Nemkov will probably headline.

 

I was going to mention Filho missing weight by 7lbs in the WEC!

Doesn't really compare to Polley coming in 32lbs over, does it?

Bellator really need to beef up their LW division. Shabliy's signing will probably help with that. 

Btw, Usman Nurmagomedov, Bellator's other hot LW signing, will make his debut for the promotion on their April 2nd card.

A revamped roster with fewer old farts and more prospects - Check.

Showtime TV deal in the US - Check.

BBC TV deal in the UK - Check.

Ranking system - Check. 

The return of Mauro - Check. 

Could Bellator really become the promotion I wanted it to be? Or will 2021 end with Corey Anderson as LHW Champion, Gallagher as BW Champion and Goldie still on commentary? Stay tuned!

It's bad enough that they rank Jones and Miocic in the top 4 and Volk only at number 7.

But Usman still only at number 6? What planet are they living on?

Usman has more or less cleaned out the WW division now. 

I'm not interested in him rematching Masvidal, Covington or Burns, because he clearly has their number. He beat Covington while striking from the range, the one area where Covington should have had the advantage over him. He withstood Burns' early onslaught, which was the only way Burns was going to win given Usman's advantage in terms of cardio. Masvidal would just get smothered in the clinch and on the ground again. 

Wonderboy is the highest ranked contender that Usman doesn't hold a win over. And over 5 years has passed since Usman defeated Edwards. Yet, I don't think there would be enough interest in those fights for the UFC to book them. As Ebb touched on above, perhaps if Edwards had smashed Chimaev in December, or vice versa, things might be different. 

So yeah, sadly a rematch with either Masvidal and Covington is probably next for Usman. 

I really enjoyed the main event. Probably the most enjoyable WW title fight since Lawler was champion.

I don't think anyone saw that coming in the main event. Most thought that Warrington was going to win inside 6 rounds. 

Oh, and those two 118-111 scorecards for Martinez vs Barrett are up there with the worst I have ever seen. 

I'm not arsed that the undercard is weak. I'm long past the stage of needing to see every fight that the UFC or any other promotion put on. 

Skipping straight to Usman vs Burns in the morning will do me just fine. Like pretty much everyone else, I am picking Usman on points.
