Stub Hub have resold more tickets for the Joshua fight the same weekend than the Mayweather fight! Crazy what a shit opponent's does to someone. Saying that, regardless of the poor sales and obvious drop off in PPV numbers, i have a feeling this is going to deliver in the ring. Last weekend's season opener was somewhat of a shocker, decent main event aside the quality of opposition Eddie Hearn had in for his name guys was probably the worst it's ever been. This weekend has Anthony Johsua/Gary Cornish. It's the last fight before the Joshua/Whyte fight (Whyte also fights on the undercard). I expect Joshua to come through with relative ease, but for once at least he's fighting a fellow prospect who should be coming in with a little ambition. I expect he will roll through Whyte. Wideload Posted September 11, 2015 Share Posted September 11, 2015 Seriously buzzing now for Heavy Duty tomorrow night, though I'm sure that will disappear for a while during the pissing Mega Bus ride from Glasgow. I'm lucky enough to be covering the show (photos) and it is far and away the biggest thing I've done so far. Have covered a number of Gary's fights up to now - the picture used in the Heavy Duty promotional stuff (see Ebb's sig) is actually one of mine. Though don't ask why they didn't flip the tattoos...  Did anyone catch the press conference and Tommy Gilmour's comments re. the Sky coverage? It's an article that makes you question why you watch boxing, Having said that, I am currently watching the Mayweather undercard, so it didn't have that much effect. Â Joshua is scary. Â It was actually a decent fight, Mayweather actually actively looked for the stoppage at times and any time it did it sparked into life. Berto to his credit tried what he could but Mayweather's craftiness and insistence on tying up near the ropes killed any chance he ever had. Â I still think he'll go for the 50, but if that's it it was a hell of a career. Debate will rage about who's the greatest, i won't get involved in that argument but if he he is done, i can't say i'll miss his performances in the ring. Â Undercard was some top action though. Â Martinez/Salido II was tear-up. Orlando Salido is machine, im not quite sure how they ended up scoring it a draw but it keeps a 3rd fight alive so im down with that. Â George Groves should have got the nod against Badou Jack for me. I had him 2 rounds up and just favoured his output, it was a tit-for-tat action fight, i just thought Groves nicked more rounds, he couldn't have got off to a worse start either. Groves did enough to show he belongs at the level, interested to see where he goes next. Â As for Joshua, i was hoping Cornish would pose a few questions but he got cracked early and it was all she wrote. Going off last night evidence i don't give Whyte much hope in December, hopefully the shoulder injury isn't a problem and it ends up being semi-competitive at least cause it's starting to feel like a bit of a hype job. Felt realistically should have been scored slightly closer than it was as Berto was constantly aggressive and did land a few blows. But then again we know what judging and Mayweather as two subjects lead to... Â Joshua looked great again and has to me indicated with this fight he has potential against a half credible opponent. Still a long way to go for him but he looked so relaxed throwing shots he just looked great. Â Mayweather fight can't be last, we went down to the casino for it and it was hardly noticeable it was on. The vip section had us and two other people in. It was so quiet they didn't even bother guarding who went in and out of it. Shocking really. Bowing out to a nobody doesn't do him favours.
