They’re great in that regard. RJ City suggested a wrestling show called WrestleMatinee with a start and finish like a matinee showing and I believe that’s the way forward. 1 hour ago, Supremo said: Macaroni with Maxxine Dupree and Ethan Page. Imagine if he’d taken all those F5s and then still won. That’d have been the smart, bold move. Instead he’s just doing the same patterned back and forth everyone else does. They had a white hot hand that they’re already normalising. Impressive. This is exactly how I feel. Imagine doing that, then having Oba go on to face Roman Reigns at Summerslam. That would suddenly be a blockbuster match. Oba certainly isn’t fucked, but they’ve killed something much bigger. Even if Brock isn’t going to retire, you still could have done Lesnar/Gunther as a retirement match at Summerslam - imagine having Lesnar go into that match on the back of two losses, Femi going into the Roman match on the back of two major wins in which he looked invincible? That’s the kinda thing that builds excitement and anticipation- something WWE is seriously lacking right now. Instead, they booked a show full of big matches that cooled almost everything right down. They just can’t help themselves. Quote
TheScarlettChad Posted June 1 Posted June 1 Triple H has the nerve to say they're firing on all cylinders. He needs to go. Absolutely hideous booking. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted June 1 Paid Members Posted June 1 (edited) The Oba/Brock finish aside, this was probably WWE’s show of the year and as good as you’re going to get from the Fed in 2026. Good matches. Insanely hot crowd. Now that the first two matches air for free, are US fans essentially being asked to pay thirty dollars for three matches? A tenner a match? Rough. Building the finish of Cody’s match around the ref missing Gunther’s foot being under the bottom rope, and then doing tonnes of foot-on-the-bottom-rope stuff in the Rhea vs. Jade match felt excessive. Are these agents not talking to each other? Shout out to B-Fab’s beautiful Tanga Loa tribute though, completely screwing up putting Jade’s foot on the rope. Gone but not forgotten! Gunther not wining the belt felt like a mistake. Hopefully they’re keeping the belt on Cody for the Punk match, but I think it’s far more likely Cody’s beef with Sami will lead to more Bloodline Saga. Then, now, forever. No greater example of the difference between WWE and AEW than them not capitalising on those massive steps you could see from the hard camera. Host an AEW show in this venue and Darby Allin would have launched himself down those steps head-first, guaranteed! But yeah, after this weekend it feels more obvious than ever what move they need to make. Fuck Hunter off. Bring in The Undertaker and Jeremy Borash to run creative. This is the way. Paid Members Your Fight Site Posted June 1 Paid Members Posted June 1 Spoiler I feel that Cody finish was a bit of a botch. Cody had Gunther in a pin, and then just needlessly pulled the legs up higher on the 2-count. I get the feeling Gunther’s foot was supposed to be either on or under the rope, and Cody pulling the legs up was supposed to be him pulling Gunther’s foot off the rope, so Gunther had more to complain about when protesting his foot was on/under the ropes during the count. But his foot WAS clearly under the rope? Quote
