Kfogg1991 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Agreed it isn't close to the mason Jones fight that is fight of the year Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 2 Author Paid Members Posted April 2 If you asked me at the start of March what the best fight of the month would be I would’ve bet my left bollock that Oliveira vs Holloway 2 was gonna run away with it. Aside from that not living up to expectations though, March was a decent month of fights and the Vallejos vs Emmett card at the Apex and especially this Seattle one were really enjoyable. Jones vs Sola from London was FOTM though. Quote
Kfogg1991 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Mate that is winning the most disappointing fight of the last five years for me.... When Holloway only got credited with 16 significant strikes and it went all five it was a stinker Quote

They are basically a rough guide to how the division stacks up with some agenda pushing shithousery added in. The PFL rankings are a complete mess too. Boxing rankings are worse, they just position fighters where they want them so they can become mandotary challenger to fight for their belt. For a better gist of a division you are better looking at the Tapology/BoxRex rankings. Edited April 3 by Egg Shen Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted April 4 Author Paid Members Posted April 4 Anyone catch this weirdly bitter tweet from Kevin Lee about Chiesa’s retirement? Nice way to make it about himself, I guess. Also, it’s complete bollocks. His last fight in the UFC was against Rinat Fakhretdinov and he got dropped and choked unconscious in under a minute. Unlike Chiesa, he hadn’t announced it was gonna be his last fight beforehand so I’m not sure why he’d have expected them to have a montage ready and cued up. And even if they did, how was that gonna work when he was literally snoozing on the canvas when the fight ended? Was Buffer supposed to wake him up for a tribute video or something? Odd behaviour from Lee. And like he said, he beat Chiesa when they fought. If you’re a bitter type, just quietly take satisfaction in that if you must. I know I was always Lee’s biggest detractor on here and I used to always say that I liked him but just felt he wasn’t anywhere near as good as many fans made out or wanted him to be. The more he talks and tweets though, the more I find myself disliking him. He was also one of the first fighters to rush to Twitter to defend Dana when he was caught on camera slapping his wife. I vividly remember he went as far as to say something like ‘if someone hits you, you have the right to hit them back’ and even included toddlers in it. I’m not joking. He’s a prick and I’m glad his career amounted to pretty much fuck all in the end. Quote

People act like it’s blasphemy or something if you have a pop at Buffer but he’s been shit for years. Just a shouty prick in his even louder suit jackets to try to distract from the fact he’s crap. He’s definitely been overstepping and trying to be the main character for ages now. Fist bumping fighters during the intros, going right up to their face while he’s announcing them etc. Shouldn’t even be on camera in that moment but he just has to get in the shot. Then you see shite like this… What is he doing? Warming up and acting like he’s a fighter…just to read some names off a card. Twat. Aye, that's unintentionally hilarious. Buffer has always taken MMA deadly seriously. He was a talking head in a early 2000s documentary about Tito Ortiz's feud with The Lion's Den. IIRC he was genuinely offended by Ortiz's actions at UFC 19, describing them as "white trash", all while being interviewed by the dude who managed Ortiz when the UFC 19 incident occurred. Despite how seriously Buffer takes MMA, I've always found his actual knowledge of MMA to be quite limited in the interviews I've seen/read of his.  4 hours ago, wandshogun09 said: I know I was always Lee’s biggest detractor on here and I used to always say that I liked him but just felt he wasn’t anywhere near as good as many fans made out or wanted him to be. He was one of those fighters that had many convinced he had ‘star power’ and was gonna be a top player at 155. Then when it became clear he was never gonna make a dent in the Lightweight or Welterweight title pictures, the hype switched to ‘Man if there was a 165 division Kevin Lee would be a problem!!!’ Conveniently overlooking the fact that he wouldn’t have been alone in a 165lb weight class and the likes of Khabib, Poirier and others would’ve been prime candidates for that division at the same time Lee was somewhat relevant. I never got why so many fans persisted with the belief that he was any better that mid-level. Quote
Dai Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I think the Lee hype train started as he seemed to have good wrestling credentials, and the era of no fighter really getting any hype or being able to show personality had already started, and he showed some charisma and wore silly clothes. Looking back it was all cringe, but at the time I think any fighter that showed a slice of individuality, plus Rogans hype, meant that he had some traction. That tweet is really sad too. Something thats living rent free in his head, and just really bitter. Happened years ago now so he should just move on. Quote
