Oh yeah did anyone catch Rogan saying Kayla Harrison was a two time Olympic gold medalist in…wrestling?

The bloke’s brain is fried from all the years of weed, Onnit, HGH and conspiracy theories. They should’ve left him at home a long time ago. He’s been phoning it in for what you know must be an exorbitant fee for years now. Hasn’t given a fuck in about five years at least. Probably longer. It’s not just this Kayla Harrison comment but he seems to have at least one of these moments during every card he works these days. He’s genuinely fucking awful now. No real enthusiasm, zero insight, just tired old repeated phrases over and over again. Going through the motions. Gurning for the reaction cam but saying absolutely FUCK ALL of note. Him and Dana need sending back to 2018 and leaving there.

I couldn't agree more about the trump shit now. I'm absolutely positive I read Dana saying they were completely distancing away from politics now he's back in office. Not only that when he goes to these show's they have to sell less than normal because of the number of secret service and protection having him in a space like an arena which angers me aswell.

Coming out to kid rock still when the pricks not there is proof how egotistical and pathetic Dana has become getting his own entrance.

Thinking of this and then thinking of myself watching this show, I genuinely think I now have a fairly functioning Rogan filter. I genuinely cant remember anything he said (even the bad stuff) on this one, and just remember paying attention to DC. I think Rogan is so checked out these days that 98% of what comes out of his mouth is completley forgetable cliche stuff, so none of it registers any more.

Great suggestion for OMalley moving up too, and all of those fresh suggestions. I guess it will only be a matter of time before he announces that, as he must be devasted right now. After reading the posts in here about how he changed up a load of things in his life in preperation for this fight, only to then get beaten even worse this time must be mentally hard to get over. He may as well move up in weight, start playing video games again and have a few years worth of decent fights at that weight class.

One final point, is there much in the way of drug talk on social media with regards to Kayla? Her back is insane, the female equivilant to TRT Vitor.

Seen that Pena is coming out with the excuse now, apparently she hurt her elbow and it was hard to punch and grip.

Eurgh she annoys me so much, I genuinely don’t know if she believes that shit she talks or is trying to fool herself or just talk herself into another title fight.

Amanda v Kayla is the fight to make but you do wonder what’s going to happen with the division after. If Amanda wins will just keep fighting or retire with the belt? It’s not looking too good for women’s MMA in the UFC at the moment, feels like the top level fighters are going to be gone soon and there aren’t many stars coming through.

I had another look at the records of various fighters in women's BW, and it isn't encouraging - it's a revolving door of aging fighters, middling ones, and ham-and-eggers. One of the most telling things is that, at present, the only ones I can identify as being potential "futures of the division", so to speak, are, as I mentioned in an earlier post, Ailin Perez, Norma Dumont, Nora Cornolle, and Jacqueline Cavalcanti - and they have barely fought anyone of the "previous generation". It's like they're keeping the likes of Nunes, Pennington, Pena, Vieira, etc. away from them - almost like they're in a championship division, and the aforementioned futures are in a division lower. Put it this way: when I look them up on Wiki, I can click through to a "circuit" of various people they've fought, and there are very few entry points to the circuit that Nunes and co. are on.

Sure, it's not great that Perez and Dumont in particular might be seen as the future of the division, but they are on win streaks, whilst Pena got a fucking title shot off the back of one win just after being butchered by Nunes.

It shows how little the UFC matchmakers care about the division, or at the very least how detrimentally obsessed they are with entertainers and "moving the needle".

This bit could be taken out of context and applied to a few of the men’s divisions as well for me. Namely Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight. You’ve got Aspinall at Heavyweight but the old guard don’t want any and the newer crop of potential opponents aren’t the most appealing. The only truly big fights for Aspinall are Jones and Ngannou. Problem is Jones has bottled it and ran away and Dana’s pathetic pettiness is probably gonna block a Ngannou return, because his stupid grudges take higher importance than the good of the division, the UFC, the sport in general. And Light Heavyweight, Pereira’s turning 38 in a matter of weeks and probably not gonna be around much longer. Ankalaev’s the new champ and won it fair and square. But he’s also a bit dull and where’s the next flock of exciting 205ers to challenge him/create any kind of buzz in the division coming from? Jiri’s cool. After that? I’m struggling. And again, the guys coming up, the next generation, just aren’t catching on. This is where filling divisions up with DWCS shite fucks things up for me. Every now and then you’ll get a gem from that show but they’re mostly just prelimers for life. Fight Pass stream level talent at best. And as the quality fighters with some kind of star power age out, the ‘next gen’ is mostly gonna have to come from that shitty ex DWCS pool of fighters. Then couple that with the UFC low balling or often not bothering pursuing some of the legit prospects from other actual reputable promotions, basically the overall talent level in the UFC has been being watered down for a few years now and I think that’s another reason why there’s been a decline in the quality of a lot of the cards.

She moves my needle.

Seriously, yeah, the future of women’s MMA is looking bleak. It probably peaked in about 2015 if we’re being honest. When you had that balance of Ronda Rousey bringing legitimate star power and big fight atmosphere to the women’s game and almost carrying that whole Bantamweight division on her back, with a bit of help from Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano maybe. And then at the same time you had Joanna Jedrzejczyk bringing the quality and putting on clinics as Strawweight champ. There’s been real high points and the first Zhang vs Joanna fight from 2020 is one of my favourite fights ever, not just in women’s MMA but in MMA full stop. But like men’s HW and LHW, the women’s divisions are weaker and less exciting than they’ve ever been right now for me. Kayla Harrison winning the belt and squashing Gobshite Pena was beautiful to watch. But even then, it’s got the inevitable feeling of ‘well this was cool, won’t last long though’ because the weight cut to 135 just isn’t feasible for any kind of long term run for Kayla as champ. Her vs Nunes is cool and the best thing to happen to women’s MMA in a while. But yeah, it’s one and done and there’s fuck all to look forward to after.
