I know this isn't the case, but it feels a bit like they wrote an authentic wrestling drama and then sprayed it with jokes to make it a sitcom (the jokes being of the quality and consistency you'd expect from ITV 2), then found out it was a late night slot so shoehorned in as much adult material as they could. It's by no means laugh-a-minute, but watchable. Given the wrestling world involvement (former wrestler as writer, several current wrestling in the cast, Cara Noir arranging the wrestling scenes) the wrestling business element is reasonably plausible and there's a few in-jokes for more hardcore followers.
