RoryFice Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Just as we've done in the past for matches like that, there's going to be a second chance for bonus points for everyone who guesses the right number of goals that England score. Successful bets on anything but an away win lead to even more ridiculous increases in points. Wunderbar! I'm not sure which bonus would be applied first if that scoreline ends up being right - quadrupling your total score so far for a San Marino win, or 7 points for the England goals. Somehow I don't think that'll be a problem come Sunday night, mind.

Fog Dude Posted September 8, 2015 Author Posted September 8, 2015 The results went into the opening post on Sunday evening, and the table was figured out and uploaded later that same night. Considering there were two opportunities for bonuses this week, the average score of 7.45 has to be considered extremely low. England officially got 6 goals in Serravalle, although the first of those came via a penalty that was... questionable to say the least. Only 5 participants bet on that number, and one of those went for a 6-1 win. Seph, Rory and late picker ultimo were the only players to score zero for that 'gimme' The other bonus chance was also arguably a nailed-on away win - except it didn't turn out that way. Details are thin on the ground (the match almost certainly didn't start at 1am, even if it did happen sometime on Sunday), but the bottom line is that the Ivorians were held to a goalless draw by Sierra Leone. I had considered going for a later tie for my D2D, but the fact that the Elephants only drew justifies the decision to get it out the way in this round. It's not my problem that just 3 people had the guts to disagree with me take advantage of that. Getting it wrong left me as the lowest scorer among those who posted on time anyway, so I'm not gaining anything from it. Joint worst performers were seph and ultimo, with the reasons for that already mentioned above. The former had enough of a cushion from his D2D to remain at the summit, but MVP RULZ closes the gap considerably as the sole person to make the most of both sets of bonus points. Zebra Kid Mark is still in last place, 4 points adrift. The other two African outcomes weren't much use to the vast majority of players, whilst Scotland's reverse in Tbilisi and a stalemate at the Millennium [soon to be 'Principality'] Stadium threw a spanner in the works for those who optimistically expected universally positive results for the home nations. Nobody foresaw the scale of the Dutch defeat in Turkey, but triumphs for Russia and Northern Ireland proved fruitful, yielding a fair few one- and three-pointers here and there. A new card mercifully full of club matches should be up shortly.
