So I went to the D2D game and, even having used my former neighbour's parking space and season ticket to get in, I felt ripped off at having had to pay for the petrol needed to get from my house to the Gate because the match was so bad. It was an insipid and woeful performance from both sides, and for a while it was looking like Seph would be right in betting on a draw, but his guess of 2 goals seemed optimistic. Then the own goal went in and the despair got worse. That said, a late equaliser was dubiously disallowed, so he very nearly got maximum points from the fixture.

As it was, the undeserved away win stands and so everyone who plumped for anything other than a draw (including mugs like me who expected a high-scoring home victory) got bonuses. In this case, that means 17 of 21 other participants profited from Seph's error. That said, his haul of 5 wasn't too bad, as Harvey Dent was outright lowest scorer with just a brace this time out. He moves down the standings, but hallicks remains in last place. By sitting out yet another round without explanation, cheetah moves joint bottom, 4 points adrift of Mungo. The gap at the top is also close, as it's now down to only 3 points, but MVP RULZ still leads. After sinking to penultimate position last week, Glenryck Pilchards recovers with a dozen this time and is the clear outright best performer.

On the continent, surprisingly few people thought Bayern would overturn Dortmund on their own patch so easily, whilst nobody foresaw a six-goal thriller in our other featured German match. Closer to home, most players either got zero or three points from the game at the Priestfield, but not one.

In the top flight, home successes for Newcastle and Stoke proved useful, the former especially for exact scorelines. Swansea's win at Craven Cottage was also quite fruitful, but United and Hull's failures to overcome Cardiff and Palace respectively caught a lot of people out.

Anyone who went for anything other than a clear home triumph at the Etihad was left looking a bit of a fool. I think my punt of 3-0 was the closest to being right.
