In what way? Triple H is a prominent member of the roster. Austin is arguably their biggest star ever and Michaels is Triple H's mate. Who would you rather? CM Punk is hardly corporate enough for that. They can't exactly have Bryan do it with current storylines.

Still it'd be nice if it coughed up one of those oft hillarious moments where a weird wrestler shows up at a press conference and the media have no fucking idea what to make of it, like Fandango before WrestleMania.

"We're here".

Austin trashed the concept of doing business in kayfabe though. Mankind is deranged only as a character. Mick Foley is just an insecure bloke who will happily play ball. Punk openly and annoyingly pricks about on Twitter and at appearances acting like he doesn't give a shit. Get him on your press conference and you have Ordinary Bloke with a cubs hat on with his feet up on the desk. He's like the guy that never got off the Papa Roach buzz when everyone else did once they'd finished growing up. He's not going to school, mom.

And sure that's actually him and it's good to have people represented as individuals but I could totally understand if WWE were a bit tetchy about getting him to do this kind of stuff.

What he said

It's a television show. They're the stars. You're over thinking it.

There's nothing to really over think. Punk can be a right capricious bastard about these things and it's not unseemly to think that WWE would not want him around it.

And yeah, or if he even wanted to.

In formal settings, Punk is fine. Like everybody else, he does what he is told to do. This wouldn't be an instalment of the Nerdist podcast. He has been fine at Mania press conferences in the past. If it were a big deal that they wanted a suit and tie thing, he'd be in a suit at their request. Shawn Michaels has looked like a wonk eyed tramp for the last ten years, he's hardly a better fit for a photographer either.

ANyway, the original accusation from Callum was that he was too non corporate to do the gig - it's just not the case. Nor is thinking that because Daniel Bryan in the storylines is being painted as an outcast he shouldn't be included either.

If it's to announce the launch of the network those names are ideal for it. Maybe you could have had Bret in there in place of Shawn too or if he was already on board then definitely Hogan. Either way, those names are ideal and the only guy you'd need from todays roster (who isn't involved in ownership of the company) is John Cena.

All well and good, but,

Quite telling that of the four people pictured on that invite, only one of them is on the active roster...

Was the quote for Callums line of thinking that Punk and Bryan shouldn't be included due to their on screen personalities / storylines. I'm not passing judgement on who is included for what reason.

Yeah, I was more making the point that Callums comment isn't telling of anything whatsoever and thus the discussion you two are having is entirely irrelevant.
