Khabib! Fucking hell, talk about the forgotten man. And the crazy thing is he might beat them all. He's already dominated Dos Anjos. What's happening with him now? Is he still injured? Is he ever coming back? Not really a fan of his smothering style but I'd be mega interested to see how RDA would approach that rematch or how McGregor would combat his suffocating grappling style.

January 30th on FOX...

FOX MAIN CARD

Anthony Johnson vs Ryan Bader

Josh Barnett vs Ben Rothwell

Iuri Alcantara vs Jimmie Rivera

Sage Northcutt vs Bryan Barberena

FOX SPORTS 1 PRELIMS

Jake Ellenberger vs Tarec Saffiedine

Olivier Aubin-Mercier vs Carlos Diego Ferreira

Kevin Casey vs Rafael Natal

Dustin Ortiz vs Wilson Reis

George Sullivan vs Alexander Yakovlev

Alex Caceres vs Masio Fullen

FIGHT PASS PRELIMS

Levan Makashvili vs Damon Jackson

Tony Martin vs Felipe Olivieri

Matt Dwyer vs Randy Brown

I'd be lying if I said I'm counting the days to this one. For a 'Big FOX' show, this is weak.

Rumble vs Bader isn't filling me with excitement. It's not a bad fight and it certainly makes sense, but it's the old 'Bader Effect'. The 'Bader Effect' is the opposite of the 'McGregor Effect'. Everything Bader does creates apathy with me. Just find him so boring. And if he beats Rumble, we've probably got to put up with the dullard in a title fight after Cormier vs Jones 2.

He could beat Rumble as well. I wouldn't put money on it but I could certainly see it happening. If he can survive the early part of the fight when Rumble's at his most lethal, and can make it a wrestling-heavy, gruelling grind of a fight, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he gets his hand raised. I'd favour Rumble though.

Barnett vs Rothwell is the most intriguing fight on the card for me, actually. Always been a Barnett fan so it's always good to see him in there. Barnett is coming off a win over Roy Nelson in a really good fight in Japan in September. And Rothwell is on a good old streak at the moment. Rothwell is a bit of a darkhorse at heavyweight. I don't see him making any waves in the title picture but he's tough as fuck, dangerous, he's huge and a bit nuts. On any given day he could potentially be a banana skin for almost any of the top heavies. On pure skills, Barnett pisses this. But Rothwell's size could make both the striking and grappling difficult for Barnett. Good fight, this.

Alcantara vs Rivera...not arsed. Not saying it'll be bad or anything, just can't say it tickles my fancy. And again, FOX main card? Strange choice.

Super Sage is back for UFC fight number 3. Makes sense having him open the FOX main card and I like that they're gradually progressing with him. Don't know much about this Holbrook but Sage showed in his last fight he's got stuff to work on. Be good to see him back in action.

That's your FOX main card then.

Ellenberger vs Saffiedine should really have taken the main card spot filled by Alcantara vs Rivera IMO. I get why they've done it this way though, giving FS1 a quality 'main event'. This should be a good fight. They've tried to book it a couple of times now and it's fallen apart. Was originally going to headline the Singapore show a couple of years back. Hopefully it happens this time.

What else? Ortiz vs Reis stands out to me. Should be decent. I really like Ortiz actually. Scrappy little fucker and never stops moving. I reckon he'll be challenging for the title sometime this year.

I like Carlos Diego Ferreira, fun fighter and seems a good dude. I'm hoping he gets back on track. He was off to a promising start in the UFC before a couple of setbacks.

Oh and Alex 'Bruce Leeroy' Caceres is always good value and worth tuning in for.

Yes.

So there is some stuff to like there. But I'm not getting the hard nipples over it or anything.

that's the first impression i got. I've looked up Rivera though and he's 19-1 as a Bantamweight, 2-0 in the UFC. I'm unfamiliar with his work but that's some record. He's the favorite against Alcantara too. I'm good with the UFC given this the spotlight rather than a middle of the road Saffiedine/Ellenberger fight (that's a bit harsh on Tarec).

Guess they're desperate for challengers to DJ. Give a fight a bit more spotlight, take a punt on it and someone might make an impression with a big knockout etc and get people's notice.

Cheers for that. To be honest, there's that many shows now I can't always be arsed to look everyone up. I'm more interested in seeing Rivera now than I was anyway. Sounds like potentially he could be a bit of a Thomas Almeida type prospect.

Bit the bullet and threw Bader into my acca. After seeing the weigh-in im feeling pretty confident too. Bader looks considerably bigger than Rumble.
