Cruz is a mental bully. I don't think he ever comes off as the most likable of guys, i always favoured Faber during their feud. Quite interested to see what side of the fence Faber sits on for this one actually.

A mental bully?? This is combat sports Ebb where getting a mental edge over your opponent is a serious part of the game. There isn't anything remotely bullying about what Cruz is doing here. He's in a one on one scenario where it's almost the aim to get in your opponents head. Cruz seems to have achieved that during the clip above. I just can't see how you can class it anything like bullying when it's in a competitive environment where opponents are paid to punch one another.

He was definitely the bad guy during the Faber feud though, and that's nothing to do with the fact that it's impossible to root against Faber, their personalities were just chaulk and cheese.

However, with the adversity Cruz has faced with injuries, and him being just an awesome analyst, he's done a 180 with me. I hope Dillashaw gets pummeled but the downside to it is that it could derail the potential Dillashaw/Faber fight, unless they do a number 1 contender fight between the two?

Way to blow shit out of proportion Lamby.

If you use your words to break down, get into the head of an opponent and make them doubt their own abilities is that not a form of psychological bullying?

That did change though. I remember support being pretty heavily for Faber around the time of their second fight at UFC 132 but the roles were starting to reverse when they coached TUF the following year. I remember there was kind of a mini backlash against Faber during the show and Cruz did a bit of a babyface turn because of how well he came across as a coach. Obviously it didn't harm Faber's popularity long term but it did feel like the tide was turning support wise during the build up to their rubber match. Then Cruz's injury streak started. Right when he was set to make the biggest money of his career as co-main to Silva vs Sonnen 2. Sure I read that him and Faber were going to get a cut of the PPV on that one as well.

Not in the slightest.

Clever tactics. Bullying is a term that has no place in MMA. I know you weren't implying it was the same as playground bullying, but it's like saying using something to your advantage is bullying. Cro Cop didn't bully people with head kicks, for example.

Don't know what's going on with Maximo Blanco's fight. It's said TBA for ages now and we're rapidly approaching fight night. They're going to have to quickly get some scrub in or scratch it off the card completely.

according the UFC.com Blanco is fighting Dennis Bermudez.

Change of plan, Bermudez is hurt. Blanco is fighting current RFA champ Luke Sanders.

Ok, i'll accept that.

I guess the stigma attached to the word derails what I was getting at.

As Keith mentions, it was the use of the word that I took exception to that's all.

Regarding Bermudez, he pulled out weeks ago and was Blanco's original opponent, and was the reason his opponent was TBD. I'm hoping Bermudez comes back strong as until the Lamas fight, I thought he was a potential champion at 145 llbs.

If Cruz is a bully for the things he said in that video, how would you describe Conor McGregor telling Jose Aldo "You're going to die", "Come closer so I can smell your pussy" and "If this was a different time, I would invade your favela"?

I think you're bringing up a discussion that Ebb has already finished Pryko. He's already said he accepts that bullying wasn't the correct term. Although it was Jag who initially brought up the bully aspect on the previous page.

Ahhhh, just a case of UFC being slow as fuck then.

I appreciate that, I don't come on here often enough to have joined in when it was still an active talk of discussion, but I'd still be interested to hear someones point of view on McGregor's comment, when they say Cruz is a bully, and the most offensive thing he said to Dillashaw was "You're a dummy"

I just think you're just over reacting to me using the word bully. Like Houchen said, i said it more to do with the fact that Cruz is using psychological tactics to get at Dillashaw. There was nothing else to it.
