Â If you look at the article above, Digital Playground has over 72,000 subscribers, and that's just to its website. On average, those subscribers are paying $30 a month, so that's over $2 million a month just from their main website subscribers. Then factor in the advertising they sell, the DVD sales and other sundries, and they're rolling in it. Â Advertising I can understand, but I can't fathom people buying subscriptions or DVDs anymore when free porn is so readily available. I'm assuming that there has been some research into it, and you're the man to ask, so what keeps people forking out cash for their wanks? Â I wonder the same thing about how wrestling shoot interview DVDs are profitable. Everyone who has any interest in watching an old wrestler talk for two hours posts on forums where links to watch the interviews free are handed around. Â I think if the boom industries are over in Asia, generally speaking it is thought they are not as savvy at using the torrent and tube sites. I personally think that's bollocks. Â Believe it or not, I just think there are people out there that feel bad about not paying for stuff. Much in the same way you can get any music you want for free, people are still buying it. 72,000 people for the 5th biggest porn site around isn't THAT many when you think about it. Â When it's solo amateur models, I think they get a better connection to their audience than the Eva Angelinas and Stoyas of this world. As such, people feel bad about taking their stuff for free and would prefer to pay them for their work. Â You should see the money that gets thrown around in live chat sites. Guys chuck $50 to $100 tips at girls like they're fucking breadcrumbs. Absolutely nuts. Â That's your route, Surf. Become a live cam guy! Just whip your todger out, wave it around and I'm sure a bunch of guys will shower you with....money. Â I've always thought paying for porn was the worst thing anyone could do, but I've been really considering signing up for Annette Schwarz website. No new stuff of her surfaces on any of the streaming sites and she seems cool enough to justify getting my money. Â Don't do that, it hasn't been updated for over 2 years. Â Precisely, there is a huge difference in audiences. The type of guys subscribing to, say, Nerdpr0n is FAR different to the guys (and girls, amazingly) subscribing to Brazzers, Reality Kings et al. Â Generally, people subscribing to the camgirls / solo amateurs sites are looking for someone who will chat to them and send them soiled pants and stuff like that - like you say, they can call them 'their' girl. People subscribing to Brazzers just want to see Shyla Stylez take a facial. Â It's one of the reasons porn won't die and, actually, why the slump in porn isn't as bad as people make out. Loads of new sites are still coming out all the time - they're just different. You look down the list of sites that have gone under and, generally, they were a load of shite that didn't move with the times. Porn keeps evolving and always will. Â Someone asked how Playboy stays afloat. My understanding is that the magazine sells fuck all now but their websites, which used to be fucking awful until very recently, do very good business. Plus they make a packet off Jenna Jameson's old sites which they bought out and, of course, they are a huge worldwide general brand now.
