If someone's destorying a shop with a scarf over their face should the cops be allowed to get stuck in? Assuming the criminal is unarmed. I consider it to be tackled to the floor and handcuffed immediatley. Then put in a place where they are ineffective for a time, like I said last night I am no big fan of prision, but in this case I am glad we have it, these rioters need to be stopped and put away for a brief time whilst everything calms down. If the Police show a stern hand and are more effective in disabling the rioters, a example will be set. If they keep gettting away with it, it will continue. Simple as. I understand the Poilice have a hard job, with hoax calls and technology making it harder though. Not that I am completly defending them.

Without risking injury to police officers. You COULD give them a reason not to. Using excessive force might become a bit of a necessity when you consider the number of lives that can be potentially ruined. It's not just about these rioters and looters here. It's about the lives they have destroyed and will continue to destroy untill it's stopped, and none of your pussy footing about is going to do any good at the moment.

Why not have a go at answering what separates the looters from the non-looters in those deprived communities? Maybe because there's not a 'one size fits all' answer? There's a myriad of factors that effect a persons behaviour.

Wanna roll the dice & find out? What do you suggest then. I am not calling for then to be beaten down, or a full scale charge and war against them. I get the Police have to pick their shots as becuase you said they are outnumbered. It is a very difficult situation to handle.
