Van Dammer
Wow they are massive companies in online gambling, im not fully surprised either with reports suggesting the US is coming round to making open sports gambling legal in many states making them clamp down and rightfully claim their share. Â The sites in case have pushed for regulation and taxation on this issue since 2005, yet the US govt since then hasn't done so and have in turn lost out on ~$5 BILLION in taxation. Â It was black Friday for myself as an online pro. Field sizes will go down, prizepools will freefall and with less income, it gives the sites less money to spend on pushing the DOJ / Whitehouse to legalize, regulate and tax. Â For the record also, the sites with .com address are down, however you can still access the software and the .eu sites. I guess I had best start looking for a "real" job again huh? Â Edit - to address VD - the law which they have essentially enforced yesterday is known as the UIGEA. It was never implemented since it's inception in 2006 due to it's poor wording leaving room for manovuering, and it hasn't ever been cleared up. The only winners in this case is the state of Kentucky and the Indians who will now use their casinos to try and steal the market from sites who give the best possible experience to poker players. Those pop-ups you get are 99% of the time from PartyPoker and Party Gaming, the don't allow US players anyway, so they won't disappear. For clarity also, it isn't the sites that get that advertising, it's infact referrers who give the links, to make money from the referrals.
