Poker sites shut down

Wow they are massive companies in online gambling, im not fully surprised either with reports suggesting the US is coming round to making open sports gambling legal in many states making them clamp down and rightfully claim their share.

The sites in case have pushed for regulation and taxation on this issue since 2005, yet the US govt since then hasn't done so and have in turn lost out on ~$5 BILLION in taxation.

It was black Friday for myself as an online pro. Field sizes will go down, prizepools will freefall and with less income, it gives the sites less money to spend on pushing the DOJ / Whitehouse to legalize, regulate and tax.

an alternative way of looking at it is that there are bills going through congress to legalise online poker in the us, this is simply a way to ensure the us government gets a cut of the poker sites past endeavours.

didnt dipshit at party poker pay a fine of 300 mil in a plea deal for one offence against the wire act.

once the government find a way to get a consistent cut then there will be a 2nd poker boom there are an estimated 60million poker players in the US all of whom pay taxes on their gambling earnings the goverment arnt going to kill a goose that could lay them golden eggs.
