I accidentally skim-read the quote and for a second my brain interpreted it that All Stars is selling faster than they thought it would and that had something to do with Kong. And from the subject line, Triple H.

Still, vignettes always help. They set Del Rio up nicely, you knew what you were getting from the off. There are quite a lot of guys in WWE at the moment that to me scream :

"Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant."

Heh.

I hope every new person doesn't start off with vignettes though, sometimes I liked when guys like Evan Bourne or whoever showed up on ECW and just had matches and slowly built themselves up.

Difference is they use vignettes to get over what someone's character or gimmick is prior to debut. Bourne didnt particularly have either, and still doesnt.

Well yeah good point, I perhaps used a bad example, I didn't really specifically mean him, just they guys like him that debut and work their way up...

Well it may be an old thing but think of this... when recently had vignettes been used... last one was ??? before Sin Cara, Kong and Del Rio? i know Carlito had them and look what happened to him...

would it have worked if Zack Ryder recently came in and had this, do you think Vignettes would work?

Look what happened to him??

Debuted strong in a feud with John Boy, won the United States title on SmackDown and was one of their top midcard heels, went over to Raw and won the Intercontinental title, became one of their top heels, shared some main event spotlight with Angle and Jericho over that summer, was over as fuck... listen to the reactions he provoked in the Elimination Chamber at NYR'06 and he stayed over strong after his turn. He only got depushed when he started copping a bad attitude (allegedly) and even then they tried again with the Colons as tag team champions, but his heart still wasnt in it.

Carlito had a good little run, and even if it went sour it was bugger all to do with what WWE did for him in terms of promotion, presentation and giving him an opportunity.

Kofi had some vignettes introducing him too but, they were on ECW so it's not too surprising you wouldn't remember them. There was also Kizarny but that one didn't work out so well.

Vignettes introducing a new talent or reworking of an old talent are awesome and WWE are so good at them i'm glad they're being used to good effect again.

Lots of people had vignettes in the past and many of them were for people who became complete jobbers or just hung around in the midard at best. Other times they worked though. I loved the Waylon Mercy ones and Razor Ramon had some classics too.

Here's a few of the duds though...... Skinner, Repo Man, Crush, MVP (not Montel), Nailz, Jean Pierre laffite (wish more came from that short run)

Interesting to remember that Yokozuna had no vignettes and was only announced the week before his debut on Challlenge or Superstars at the end of the programme when they used to tell you about next weeks show. I was quite excited to see what he was going to be like though.

To be fair, he didnt need vignettes. One look at him and you knew what he was all about. He was quite a sight.

The best vignettes I ever saw (apart from the Razor Ramon ones which are in a totally different class altogether) was the Nathan Jones ones. They built him up like he was the next Goldberg. Imagine if they did those vignettes with someone who was actually good. I thought Nathan Jones was about to start ripping through everyone. Shame he was so useless. Take a look:

Plenty of wrestlers have had them over the decade, most notably for me R-Truth, whose fantastic vignettes didn't match up with the character he ended up playing at all.

Then, of course, there's Del Rio, Kofi, Cryme Tyme, Kizarny, Boogeyman, etc.

Number 4 is my favourite. 0:34 absolutely nailed it.

I noticed the Box office logo in the top right hand corner. Anyone know what PPV the vignette aired on?
