^ Thats crap, all just because idiots in America wanna watch UFC at 9pm instead of 8pm? Idiotic move from UFC, not only affects us in the UK but also in the East-Coast of America & all of Canada as shows will start at midnight for them.

Anyways, Strikeforce have announced that Gilbert Melendez will defend his SF LW title against Jorge Masvidal on Dec. 17th. So it'll be a while yet until he gets to join the UFC.

Just seen this on Cage Warriors

Ross Pearson is doing a trial weight cut to 145 and it's said to be going well

"The attempt at 145lbs is going good. I started at 176lbs (80kg) and now I'm standing at 169lbs (76kg). I want to be at 164lbs (74kg) next week."

When asked about whether the weight cut has affected his strength, he replied, "no not at all, I still feel strong," as he continues to train at Salford Muay Thai and with his Rough House team mates in Nottingham.

Pearson at 145 would be great. Pearson vs Korean Zombie, Mark Hominick, Tyson Griffin, Nam Phan. Endless possibilities.

I mentioned this weeks ago Wand, keep up!

Also that article is wrong, he no longer trains at either Salford Muay Thai or Rough House. When he is home he trains at Spartan MMA but he is enjoying it so much over at Alliance MMA in San Diego (where he is now) that he is going to be moving over to the US permanently after Christmas to train there full-time.

Phil De Fries (Sunderland fighter who is making his UFC debut at UFC 138 next month) is also training at Alliance MMA in San Diego. Phil is going to make a scene in the UFC Heavyweight division (not Champion but for sure a longterm mainstay), that I assure you. He is 6-foot-5, absolutely lean and has insane grappling skills (which I've witnessed first-hand) but also is a very heavy-handed striker - even just his jabs continually break facial bones.

My mate, a strong HW with 2nd dan black belt in BJJ, rolls with him regularly and said even just at closed guard with Phil on top its just like trying to get a bear off your chest.

I really can't praise him highly enough, he is going to be a fantastic addition to the heavyweight division.

, Phil shows some fantastic grappling and ground n' pound in the 2nd round.

He is going to tap out Oli Thompson (former Strongman) within a round imo, at UFC 138.

Consider me sold! Ill be checking that fight out.

UFC PPV's are moving back to their original time from UFC 141 onwards. So they will start at 3 now again for us instead of 2.

So any Facebook prelims to start around 11.40pm and the Spike Prelims to start at 2?

Damn.

If the people buying the PPVs want to watch PPVs at 9pm instead then it's not an idiotic move at all.

I was thinking earlier when reading about today's Press Conference that Jon Jones taking 4 fights in one calendar year surely doesn't happen too often.

Have many other big-name fighters done that in the Zuffa era?

Dana White just said in the press conference that Roger Huerta did it before and looking back he actually fought 5 times in 2007 and won them all although he wasn't champion.

I remember last year Chris Leben fought 3 times and 2 of them fights were a fortnight apart. He won all 3 fights. Leben fought 5 times in 2006 aswell.

I looked up a few others (not all Zuffa but still, thought it was interesting)

Mirko Cro Cop fought 8 times in 2004.

Josh Koscheck fought 4 times in 2006 and 2008.

Jose Aldo - 4 times in 2009 and 6 times in 2005.

Roger Huerta - 5 times in 2007.

Rich Clementi - 6 times in 2007.

And if we're talking ridiculously active MMA fighters, no fucker will top Travis Fulton (current MMA record of 306-48-10-1)

He's had a shitload of 20+ fight years and in 1998 he fought a staggering 41 times :omg: he's still going strong, he's only fought twice this year (lazy bastard) and he's 2-0 in 2011. He's fighting Andrei Arlovski for ProElite in November. Fucking machine.

I dare say the likes of Dan Severn, Shonie Carter and Jeremy Horn have some impressive streaks of fights too but I can't see anyone topping Travis Fulton's 41 fights in one year.
