Paid Members martyngnr Posted March 17, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 17, 2011 I was always ambivalent about the Deftones, couple of decent tracks but could never get excited about them. Until I saw them at Download last year
Kawaii Guy
Between the Buried and Me are playing 2 shows in london this september with Animals as leaders as the main support. surprised its taken Animals as leaders so long to come over here considering how popular they are getting in america, should be a pretty awesome show. Â Also, not technically metal but close enough, Horse the Band have posted a torrent on their site of the 6 disk Earth Tour documentary, pretty entertaining watch. Pretty amazing to see a band self fund a tour that large (40 countries on 5 continents)
Twatters
I think my dislike for Iron Maiden and Metallica is mentioned earlier in this thread. Your screen name explains why you hate two bands as great as Maiden and Metallica though. Â How anyone can profess to love metal yet hate early Metallica is beyond me. Â As i say i went through this earlier in the thread so i wont go on, but i love all types of metal, just not Metallica (and a few others). My username comes back to haunt me.... Â Anyway i've been listening to Superjoint Ritual - Use Once and Destroy. Such a great album. Heavy and fast, awesome riffs and Phil Anselmo's vocals are at their aggressive best. KingOfMetal
Did S.R. put anything out after 'Lethal Dose of American Hatred'? Or did Anselmo pour all his attention into Down
David
Anyone else looking forward to the new Amon Amarth album? I've pre-ordered the CD & DVD limited edition digibook.
Paid Members SpiritOfTheForest Posted March 21, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted March 21, 2011 Yep. I gave in to temptation and downloaded the leak. It's a belter, an absolute belter.

Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 22, 2011 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 22, 2011 got back from Hammerfest anyways (thought i'd stick some thoughts in here rather than in the Hammerfest thread). All in all it was a great weekend, definately going to go again next year.  I've been to around 15 festivals now (proper 4 days camp ones) and although they are great experiences, the toll it takes on you can be tough and it definately ain't for everyone (ive been with people who've hated it). I aint quitting festivals, but Hammerfest is a nice alternative...nothing like a comfy bed  anyways, saw some good bands...Grand Magus, Accept, Turisas & Entombed were all good but the two bands of the weekend were...  Satyricon: only just started to get into em, but i posted something on here not long ago about sometimes to need to see a band live to really appreciate what they do, that's what happened here. Satyricon basically play an almost commercialised version of black metal, it's very catchy and the bands stage presence is undeniable. Stage presence is not something you can necassarily learn, you can work on it but it's just something natural that some people have, Satyr has it in spades...he doesn't really do anything special, he just has that magnetic thing going for him where you can't help but watch him. Outstanding stuff.  Ill Nino: YES! Ill Nino! many of the old nu-metal bands release albums and tour, and i sometimes see them pop up in terrible reviews and think 'why are they still going?' but after seeing Ill Nino i know why. The band came on at around 1.30am and they fucking crushed. It's was ridiculous loud and the bouncey-style of their music and a strobe-light heavy light show ust flattened the place, fucking brilliant. I thought they were gonna suck!  Great weekend though, i'll definately go again...the fact that we were paying
RancidPunx
Reckon i could just about afford going to Toronto and see the Dillinger Escape Plan supporting the Deftones in a few weeks. Could also take in UFC 129 on the same trip. Â Am humming and hawwing.
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted March 25, 2011 Author Paid Members Share Posted March 25, 2011 that would be an outstanding trip, there's a fan expo at the ufc too....highly recommended.
children of bodom
Whats Happen to The Architects??    this is what i'm use to  this is the new video
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted April 11, 2011 Author Paid Members Share Posted April 11, 2011 (edited) yeh it's a bit of a departure aint it. Â I'm all for bands experimenting and all that stuff, but that's a case of completely alienating the metal fanbase. Architects seem to have taken the obvious route of capitalising on their fanbase. For some reason, they seem to be one of these bands who appeal to the Bring Me The Horizon-crowd, it's heavy stuff but it just isn't accepted by the metal community. It doesn't seem to have harmed the band, they are bigger than ever. The whole problem with this scene is eventually the fans who are listening to it are gonna move onto something else and they'll be forgotten. Still, all power to 'em... Â I do actually intend to listen to the new Architects album though, it's had some really good reviews. Edited April 11, 2011 by Ebb

I'll also be checking out the album whatever.  Why is it that 'metalcore' bands seem to be hated by alot of hardcore metal fans. I'm going to see Whitechapel on Wednesday, and bands like them and Suicide Silence seem to be disliked. Is it just the image that they are disliked for???
