Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 14, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 14, 2010 yeh, very true. Was cool to see them get their props when they re-formed for gigs last year though. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 15, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 15, 2010 me and my housemate are old fans of the 90's early 00's UKHC scene but ive kind of neglected in recent years, the scene from then has all but disappeared, and it's strange that all the bands i listened to from that period have gone, and never get talked about anymore, there's loads of great music out there needing to be discovered. Anyone a fan of that scene? I dusted off the old Stampin' Ground albums (which remain one of the best live bands i ever saw) and it's great stuff, ive got a box of old cd's im gonna go find later, all my Knuckledust, Underrule, Freebase, Medulla Nocte albums are in there. Great! Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 15, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 15, 2010 after mentioning that above ^ it inspired to goto amazon and scrape the dregs of the Market Sellers barrels, nothing i like more than checking out old music, trying to find that diamond in rough kind of thing...picked up these: Spine - Restoration Freebase - Nothing To Regret Raging Speedhorn - How The Great Have Fallen Mindjuice - Practice Dying Every Day Co-Exist - Surgical Removal of the Teeth, Toenails and Drilling of the Kneecaps Cubic Space Division - Cubic Space Division Psycore - Your Problem Labrat - Ruining It For Everyone Dog Toffee - Sacred Heart Stampin' Ground - A New Darkness Upon Us Landmine Spring - Are We The Culprits for a grand total of Quote
Mock-The-Cross Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Never been into hardcore really, just mainly death metal, but i do recall seeing stamping ground in a wee pub in dundee called drouthy neebors. I was only 14-15 at the time, but i remember the venue being a constant circlepit in a room no more than 6 mtrs long, 3 wide. I miss local gigs. Co-exist too! What a cracking album, full on grind with choke chain, thrash with fear of sharks 10 or so more grind tracks then the song entitled 'stress related killing', such a diverse brutal band that never got the recognition it deserved, which is a shame cos the patriot in me wouldve had co-exist, sons of slaughter, bonesaw and achren signed cos there just as important as our heaviest extreme import, man must die! Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 15, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 15, 2010 i haven't heard Co-Exist, that was abit of a gamble buy, but from reading reviews it sounds like something i would like. What kind of death metal you like? clearly a Bloodbath fan judging by the name, but im always keeping a ear out for bands, i like all kinds of rock/metal. Quote
steve rayson Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I would really like to see what you guys think of BuZZer - this Isreali band plays good old Stoner/Doom/Sludge and I really think there doing a fucking amazing job. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4DgroMbna0...feature=channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdW_A8Sk9XA...feature=related Oh come on you lazy wankers - give them a listen! Paid Members CuckedByMenry Posted September 15, 2010 Paid Members Posted September 15, 2010 Name that band/song! I saw a video earlier which focussed on a man and woman in bed. The woman wakes up and it looks like she's going to leave, instead it turns out she's rohypnoled the guy and ends up dumping him in a car boot. Pretty sure the band is well-known (they sound familiar, maybe mid-slot at Sonisphere festival material), but I was so sidetracked by a music video not being about hair or crying that I forgot to see who they were. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 15, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 15, 2010 errr im out of touch with music video's...i have no idea. Quote
Mock-The-Cross Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 i haven't heard Co-Exist, that was abit of a gamble buy, but from reading reviews it sounds like something i would like. What kind of death metal you like? clearly a Bloodbath fan judging by the name, but im always keeping a ear out for bands, i like all kinds of rock/metal. Depends on my mood really, im listening to Origins s/t album- real technical, precise drumming, but othertimes id put on,Entombed, later napalm death, possessed. I like to be eclectic, not elitist you see! Anyway bands you want to check out are- Embalmer, an american deathgrind band going for 20 years, they have a myspace with their demo from last year! Also check out corrupt absolute. The only bands i'd mention are scottish bands (keeping the scene alive, see) Nerrus Kor-old school death metal, Cancerous womb-gore,grind death, threshold sicks-thrashdeath(not my favourite tbh, but each to their own). See what you think. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 16, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 16, 2010 nice one! im a fan of both Entombed and Napalm Death, i'll check some of those other bands there though. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 21, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 21, 2010 any Helmet fans on the board? they've just released a new album... and it sounds fucking great! Quote
Mock-The-Cross Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 any Helmet fans on the board? they've just released a new album... and it sounds fucking great! The idiot in me ALWAYS confuses Helmet with Halford, whether thats a Freudian slip or not i dont know. Although i think i can recall catching a glimpse of Helmet(the band) at Download back in 2004! Didnt like them, so dont think its gonna be a purchase, unless there style now is a new jazz fusion of EBM cross over thrash...only released on cassette... Quote

Great! Yep, well kind've. I was abit too young when all that scene was happening but I love hearing about it. I remember seeing Stampin Ground when I was about 14, they were supporting AFI and I wasn't really arsed about them. Wish id've paid more attention now tho. Good band. Love Knuckledust aswell, still the best band on Rucktion Records by a mile. Remember xCanaanx? Edited September 21, 2010 by lightningxlock Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted September 21, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted September 21, 2010 i was at the 04 show, in a tent right? the sound was quite naff that day, i saw the band a little bit prior in Bristol and the fucking crushed (prior to that i saw em support Korn back in 97), i know a lot of people went off Helmet when they reformed almost an entirely different band, but for me they are one of those bands that center around the frontman, as he's the driving force. Fucking great band, they dont get as much love as they should. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 14, 2010 Author Paid Members Posted October 14, 2010 too anyone who still hasn't heard the new Misery Index album, go fucking get it...it's one of the best albums of the year. Quote
