As always I underestimate the amount of food I cook so there's a bit of plate crowding going on. Bacon, sausage and hash brown were cooked in the air fryer. Bacon looks quite light but it was really good. I'll give myself minus points for tlhe Butch toast. Plus points for tinned sausages and beans.

  2. I don't have any skin in the Khan/Helwani debate but I think it's disgenious to say Ariel is only there because of Nick Khan.

His gig with BT started as a UFC only thing which then spread into doing bits for WWE.  Dana eventually got him canned from BT's UFC stuff but it seemed like BT and ESPN at the time did all they could to keep him, even with Dana doing what he could to sabotage him.

By all accounts he has a good relationship with Trips and Steph and a lot of the talent, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him in an on camera role down the line in some heel manager type role. He'd be pretty good at it too I'd imagine.

  3. Rugby league confirmed best base for MMA.

Might be one of the best making the most of a loss performances ever. What an incredibly competitive fight it was. Scored it 3 rounds for Islam in the end but Volk matched him all the way and the defensive grappling really was crazy impressive. The ending and the electric crowd just magnified it so much. Islam looking drained and visibly Haunted on bottom was a real eye opener. We don't deserve Alex Volkanovski. I hope the Yair fight is huge. This man deserves it.

The excellent and slightly shambolic Mike Jeavons has just started a week using an Air Fryer. He likes convenience so he should give you some good ideas

Big fan of Mike and seeing the opening video was a big push for me to get one.

Hopefully he's stopped using those liners at this point.

  5. These things seem to be very popular at the minute and all the talk of finely cooked sausages has pushed me over the edge.

I'm sure a few people on here have them so I'm looking for some advice and recommendations on what to get. Recipes and do's and don'ts.

Are they really as good as people say? Can I make a full roast dinner in it? Are you saving shit loads of cash and time?

I'm eyeing up the Ninja Foodi 7.6l which has the 2 drawers. We're only a household of 2 so I assume that will be plenty big enough for us.

Air Fryer masters, please lend a hand

Would recommend the book as well. Top stuff. That and HOMICIDE are brilliant.

Have you see WE OWN THIS CITY yet? Basically a real WIRE sequel but with Jon Bernthal smacking around which is always fun

I'm currently listening to the Corner on Audible at the same time! Homicide is next on my list. Planning on watching We Own This City as soon as I can.

    All the pieces matter!

  7. Apologies if this has already been posted.

I found that the misery of The Wire wasn't quite enough for me so I've been watching The Corner on YouTube for the last few days.

It was written by David Simon and is kind of a prelude to The Wire. Originally shown on HBO in 2000 but gained little in the way of mainstream popularity. It focuses solely on the lives of the people on the street, rather than a mix of the police and school system as seen in The Wire.

Utterly heart breaking but captivating stuff which digs a little deeper into the awfulness of addiction that maybe the Wire doesn't do.

It shares quite a few cast members with The Wire, most of which are in complete role reversal. Very odd seeing Lester and Daniels on the other side.

The full 6 part series is on YouTube if anyone fancies it.

My first proper big gig that wasn't a local thing was also one of my favourites ever, the Insane Clown Posse with a bunch of mates including UKFF user MMoKonji. They couldn't do the whole Faygo schtick so instead the crowd was covered in Tesco Value Cola which probably cost the band 2 quid for the entire lot of bottles. I wish I still had my red hatchetman shirt from the show but I do still have the copy of Big Money Hustlas that we all must have watched multiple times the week after.

Myself and @Egg Shen went to the London leg of this. Think it was moved to the Kentish Town forum in the end.

After being an ICP fan for several years, finally getting the chance to see them live and witness the carnage was amazing fun. Probably my favourite gig ever. I still have my ticket stub somewhere. I had 20 fags nicked out of my back pocket and I think we broke down on the motorway on the way home too.

    Still the best though.

They didn't return to the UK for nearly 15 years after that. Ended up going to the Bristol gig in 2017.

Again it was fantastic but at the end where the fans get on stage, some prick launched a full 2 litre bottle into the crowd which clocked me square in the face. Smashed my glasses and busted my dome open.

    Zero regrets.

  9. First proper gig I went to was The Stereophonics with Feeder supporting in Newport Centre, December 1998.

I remember having a thick wooly Kickers jumper on which was an absolute rookie error. I recall being in the crowd for Feeder and being hot, sweaty and dehydrated as hell at the end of their set. I went to the vending machine and bought 3 cans of coke which I proceeded to down rapidly. I then spent the entirety of the Stereophonics set with gut ache and cramps with several trips to the lavies involved.

Gut ache aside, the riots at Leeds Festival 2002 were probably the worst thing.

Is that the one that Oasis and Everything But The Girl refused permission for Wonderwall and Missing, respectively?

I couldn't remember the vast majority of songs on it so I had to investigate. Seems like you're correct though.

    1. "Smurfs Are Back" – based on "No Limit" by 2 Unlimited. The repeated chant "no, no" from the original song is replaced with "yeah, yeah" leading to a climax of "Smurfs are back, yeah!"
    2. "Mr Smurftastic" – based on "Boombastic" by Shaggy.
    3. "I've Got a Little Puppy" – based on "I Wanna Be a Hippy" by Technohead. The high-pitched dance vocals of the original, containing blatant drug references, are replaced to comical effect with a more innocent tale about a dog. The high point of the remake is the refrain of "pooper, pooper scooper!"
    4. "The Noisy Smurf" – based on "It's Oh So Quiet" by Björk. The alternating loud and soft vocals of the original are ideal for this tale of a noisy Smurf who pops up to disturb the peace.
    5. "Find the Smurf" – based on "Love Is All Around" by The Troggs. The new version's lyrics bear almost no resemblance to the Wet Wet Wet hit, other than "We've looked all around" planted in the chorus.
    6. "Smurfland" – based on 1972 song "Living Next Door To Alice" by Australian group New World. The song has been covered by a number of acts including Smokie and Roy Chubby Brown
    7. "Our Smurfing Party" – based on "Saturday Night" by Whigfield.
    8. "Don't Stop Smurfing" – based on "Don't Stop (Wiggle Wiggle)" by Outhere Brothers.
    9. "Smurfhillbilly Joe" – based on "Cotton Eye Joe" by Rednex.
    10. "We're the Smurfs" – based on "Alright" by Supergrass.
    11. "Smurfland Olympics"- An original song about a Smurf sporting competition
    12. "Smurfing Ways"- An original song/rap about how kind the smurfs are
    13. "Mr. Blobby & the Smurfs" – based on "Mr Blobby" by Mr Blobby.
    14. "Football Forever"- An original football anthem with no reference to Smurfs other than "it's a Smurfing good game" in the chorus
    15. "Smurfing World"- An original ballad.

The most depressing thing however is learning what year this came out and how old I was at the time of buying. The shame!

I don't think he entered the US though, did he? That video is most likely in Sweden, Russia or Chechnya.

Yeah the video isn't from the US. I'm just curious as to how Khamzat's relationship with Kadyrov would potentially impact Khamzat fighting in the US in future.

  12. None of those examples are Kadyrov and Co. entering the US though, which is what I asked.

Isn't Kadyrov on some sort of banned list from US entry? Just wondering if that would extend to people who get close to him.

    Genuine questions here.

Being in the scummy world of MMA, it won't affect him in the slightest.

Would the US authorities look to block someone with close ties to Kadyrov entry into the US? Dana and Co obviously don't give a damn but I'm  interested in the wider ramifications.

Isn't Khamzat Chechen? In all honesty, I don't know what else he could have been expected to do? If someone like that decides they want to meet you and get a few publicity shots you tend not to refuse. Especially if you have family and friends who live in that region.

As for implications of him fighting in the US? I doubt it, and besides, fuck America.

I'm not saying he should tell Kadyrov to shove it up his arse. I'm fully aware that he probably is just doing what he thinks he's needs to do to not upset a violent warlord. I'm just wondering how it could ultimately effect him. It's hard to see a way out of that situation once you're fully emerged in it.
