  1. MIL asked if I'd try and paint some rocks for a display in her garden. Enjoyable and Therapeutic and I'll certainly be doing this again. Keep calm and carry on, the heart was a request!

  2. I'm convinced that PFL, BKFC and One are all fronts for some money laundering operation. None of them should be able to run the way they do without Afflictioning themselves by now. Bonkers.

Well chuffed for Ngannou though. What a guy.

  3. Later season spoilers...

    Spoiler

I think the writers confirmed that they never had it in mind but I like the idea that Toby was the Scranton Strangler which is why he didn't want to enter the church.

I love that whole subplot by the way. Quietly introduced in the earlier seasons with a few off hand comments and then becomes quite the thing later. Great stuff.

  4. Finished up The Ballad of Gay Tony and felt a bit burned out by the GTA IV map so decided to dust off GTA Online after a few years. Decided to play in invite only sessions to completely remove the knobbers on flying bikes gunning me down at all times.

Had about 5 million in the bank so got myself the nightclub and a cocaine lock up. I apparently have the criminal enterprise pack unlocked (had no idea about this) so I got a free Bunker and counterfeit cash operation too along with some cars and guns.

It all feels very grindy but I'm having fun at the moment and hopefully that will continue. I've read there's a fairly new Heist that can be done solo so I'm gonna look into that once I have enough money to buy the Submarine.

Unbelievable that this is still going strong 10 years later.  Surely they won't just pull the plug when GTA 6 is released?

  5. We did another rewatch a few months back. Started at season 2 and finished after Michael leaves. Everything either side of that isn't worth it. There are a few good nuggets but on the whole, Nelly, Vickers, the 2 new office kids and the boom mic guy is a real drop of form and a bit of a slog to get though.

The less said about the character assassination of Andy the better. Was that really down to the writers being pissed off at the Hangover series taking Ed Helms time?

Jim being pelted with the snowballs by Dwight and being absolutely petrified was the greatest come to jesus moment ever. Proper pro wrestling feel good stuff.

Lack of tomatoes was slightly disappointing and Aldi didn't have the McDonald's style hash browns so had to settle for their hash brown waffles. In fairness they were pretty decent.

  7. It's probably not feasible long term and would take some planning which will cause its own headaches and costs, but the fight with Cummings and Herman a few weeks back playing out in front of Cummings home town really felt like a bit of a spectacle because the crowd had some investment in what was otherwise a pretty nothing bout (double retirement not withstanding)

If the UFC could do the Fight Night shows and stick a few hometown people on the card it would make for a much more lively and fun show. Again I understand its probably an effort they don't think it worthwhile, but anything beats the souless Apex.

Is Season 1 of Always Sunny in Philidelphia considered a hard watch which gets better over time? I've read nothing but good stuff on here over the years.

I've watched about 6 episodes of season 1 and I understand that they're meant to be repugnant pricks but I'm finding it hard to want to watch such a group of characters.

So after 3 months we've just finished season 3 and things have picked up quite a lot and I am starting to enjoy it somewhat. Most people seem to say this happens right as Frank appears in Season 2, but I really didn't see it until early season 3. At this point it's nowhere near as funny as something like the Office or even Brooklyn 99, but there's still like 12 seasons to go so plenty of time to get there.

One thing I absolutely detest though is the inevitable argument that happens most episodes which results in the 4 of them screeching and shouting at the top of their voices to insanity driving levels. I do have a bit of a noise sensitivity but I'm constantly reaching for the remote to knock it down before my ears start to bleed.

  9. I got rid of Playboy. Haven't really put the time in wining and dining Dwayne though so didn't get his entourage perk thingy.

For full disclosure I spared Darko and went with Revenge on Dimitri.

Got the last mission to do later but I've read it's difficult on Xbox X due to the framerate increase and having to tap a button too quickly to jump on the helicopter? I'll be pissed if I can't finish it!

Yeah I think they billed it as a rags to better rags tale. The bit where you have to choose which McGready to off when they’re on the park bench made me put the controller down and think about what I’d done. Plus it has Little Jacob.

I did this a few days back and I ended up off'ing Derrick despite Patrick being a knob. I honestly felt a little shame for doing so and he doesn't even answer my calls to remove the wanted level so it was a total balls up on my end.

Jacob is fantastic. Lots of great moments but the little back and forth in the Helicopter where an exasperated Niko asks if he really needs to smoke a joint at this moment but then realising it's pointless and conceding defeat had me chuckling.

  11. Might be wrong, but I thought IV was the only one where regardless of if they can see you or not, you had to be out of the radar to evade them. Where as the others you'll eventually lose them if you stay out of their line of sight.

Edit - if the GTA V system is updated, they did a good job because it's no where near as frustrating as in IV.

Must play it again soon. It's great as a really, really gritty movie whereas V is nothing but a video game.

Absolutely. When you take out the mundane 'doing activities with friends' stuff, the actual story itself is very well done and has far more meat on it than I remember. I really never appreciated it back during the release and because it wasn't another 'boys in the hood' affair I never warmed to the characters at the time. Replaying with fresh eyes has really let me see how good it is.

The radar system for losing the cops is the worst though. Glad they didn't stick with that.

  13. Replaying GTA IV. I've tried not to do it, but I'm at the point now where I'm using taxis to get to every destination. It's not the brick like handling of cars, but there's something about the map and the setup of the islands which seems like it takes an absolute age to get anywhere. Never really had this issue with any other GTA game but it's so apparent here.

I didn't appreciate it at the time, but Niko is way drier and funnier than I remember. Absolutely one of the better characters in the GTA universe.

The Ballad of Gay Tony is up next.

  14. Not usually one for Sci Fi stuff but after reading a few other books from this author (The Undead series) previously I thought I'd give it a go.

Centres around the creation of a sentient AI and the ensuing fallout. The world of AI and any futuristic stuff usually leaves me cold but I was gripped with this and ended up re-listening as soon as I finished it. Narration is great and the story had me by the balls. Free on the Audible catalogue at the moment.

Missing some fried mushrooms and there's potentially too many beans on the plate but still enjoyable. Air Fried streaky bacon wins the day.

There's a Black Cock Inn in Caerphilly. That refers to a chicken though, so that's ok.

Nice little ramblers pub round the corner from me. They used to do a 'big black cock burger' but it doesn't seem to be on the menu anymore.
