I don't know how to explain that comics you haven't read might be good.

They're difficult to get right, but that's partly because a family dynamic with superheroes is difficult to get right. Plenty of writers have struggled with it, but when the Fantastic Four work, they really work. The recent comic book relaunch has been an absolute belter and one of the best superhero comics of the last decade.

In the same way that Doom can and should be their big bad over however many movies, but they've struggled there as well.

It's part of why casting Pedro Pascal could actually really work - Reed should be mostly likeable and down to earth (just endlessly sidetracked). After all, Ben Grimm isn't just his best friend - he's also Ben Grimm's best friend.

A positive, likeable film could really work well.

Could you give me the specifics of the good run. Where to start, are there tpbs etc?

  2. It's a few years old but last week I 'discovered' Reasonable Drought by Stove God Cook. It's fucking brilliant.

I think I'd never bothered before because I mentality lumped him in with the Griselda lot but this is better than anything they've ever done.

I'm generally a fan of Roc Marciano's production anyway but it really complements Stove God's flow brilliantly, which is really unique and interesting.

How much you like this album may depend on how much you enjoy off key rap singing, but I'm a big fan of that.  And on that I feel like the likes of Biggie, DOOM and Ghostface all approach(ed) that in a very similar way, but he's really got his own style of it that I love.

    Anyway. Strongly recommended.

Also good timing for having got in to it as a new single of his produced by conductor Williams just came out that's really nice too.

Me early 00s in Kingston nightclubs when garage came on: Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia Dancing GIF

Have you seen that chap on Instagram who plays 90s garage whilst dancing badly in his mum's robe? I was never really into garage at the time but he is digging out some real classics that have ages surprisingly well (unsurprisingly he has not played either of those two aforementioned terrible songs)

I don't see compassion as a zero sum game, having compassion for innocent civilians in northern Israel shouldn't have to always be qualified with a similar statement on what's happening to the south.

I don't doubt your compassion or that you believe this, but I disagree wholeheartedly with this framing.

It's ignorant to the context that the remarkable amazing military technology being discussed is facilitating genocide. It doesn't matter that the iron dome is defensive, if Israel couldn't hide behind it they wouldn't be able to do what they are doing. What is happening would not be possible without the heavily lopsided military capabilities of the two sides involved in the conflict.

Which is where the complicity of the West lies, and also what makes it quite tasteless as a discussion point.

I would hope that anyone that has read the thread to date and your contributions doesn't think you're cheering for the deaths of Palestinians and I don't doubt your intentions. I don't think there's any need for Keith to get defensive on your behalf, but I do think you're wrong on this and would urge you to reconsider your position.

Given he has Lebanese family, and his post was regarding Lebanon, I’m pretty sure he has a handle on what the IOF have done and continue to do. Probably more than anyone else on this board.

That's a really weak argument. I think you know it makes no sense at all so I don't really need to spell out why.

Ha that just reminded me of when I worked in an office for a bank and a lad I sat next to got a version of Pac Man running in Excel to get around our very strict internet blockers.

On a floor-wide weekly boring conference call with the CEO that was named The BobCast and usually about where he’d been on his bike, my mate loaded up Pac Man but forgot to mute his computer so all the entire floor heard were the first few seconds of the Pac Man jingle as loud as you like. He went white as a ghost and though he managed somehow to get away with it none of us ever saw that Excel Pac Man again.

I accidentally forgot to put myself on mute yesterday and was playing guitar during a meeting 🤦

Cody Rhodes may not be the guy they want to put the title on. If he is they can do it at another point, but at Wrestlemania it's about special spectacular moments you will never forget and The Rock vs Roman Reigns is that.

I hope the majority on here make sure you get to nursery school on time tomorrow

Well. This is wholly unnecessary and the clear trigger for that tedious back and forth. Take a little holiday.

Not wishing to just sounds like a right grumpy sod, but it feels as though every email these days starts with:

    Hi Douglas

    Hope you’re well.

    Could you please send me….

It feels as though everyone just assumes that if you don’t start with “hope you’re well” then the recipient will automatically think you’re utterly careless.

It’s become so meaningless and insincere, I guess that’s why it’s become an annoyance to me.

It absolutely is insincere, but it's an improvement on asking "how are you" and not meaning it. Hope you're well is shorthand for "We've not spoken for a while, but regardless I'm not doing pleasantries".
