  1. New series of Invincible seems to have snuck on to Prime without me realising. Caught the first episode so not much to say about it yet but am very excited for this, even though I am sad that it won't have anywhere near as much omni man in it as series 1.

  2. Soul - that's some good pixar! Funny, good story, well acted, interesting subject matter and good music. Really no complaints about this one and I'm glad I forced my kids to watch it instead of letting them choose the movie today.

Saltburn - I liked it. Not sure why the ending was played like a 'reveal' when it was obviously what was happening the whole time (well, not the whole time but without getting too spoilery it revealed enough as it went that it wasn't a suprise by the end), but I didn't think it needed a big denouement; I enjoyed the ride anyway.

Lunch today inspired by this comment. 10/10.

A friend living in the Netherlands told me about how his Dutch partner didn't correct him for several months, when he first learned used the phrase "Met vriendlijk groenten" at the end of emails and letters.

He wanted to say "with friendly greetings", which is "met vriendlijk groeten". By adding the extra "n", he was signing off with "with friendly vegetables".

That would be a good pun to use in marketing emails if the Dutch have any oddbox / hello fresh type companies.

Starmer's is very much trying to court every vote he can. I've been saying for a while that I feel a Starmer's Labour government would be "less bad" as opposed to "better" if that makes any sense? I totally understand why he's doing what he's doing, but to be doing interviews with the S*n and all the "at least we're not the Tories" campaigning really isn't filling me with hope.

I'm struggling to even see the 'less bad' these days.

It's so weird seeing her as an old girl now, given that you posted a photo of her as a puppy (at least, I could've sworn you did). Doesn't seem that long ago.

I know exactly what you mean. I was thinking about it myself as I remember the first photo I took of her when she came home. She was about 2 or 3 so not quite a puppy but the time has flown and it's only in the last year that she's started showing her age but it has come on quite fast ..

They look pretty but the taste is underwhelming.

  8. I agree with what you're saying but it does feel like the likes of Linehan are using it as a stick to beat trans people with rather than giving a shit about how fair or unfair it is for the women. I think what pat meant was that they wouldn't give a shit about any other injustices in womens' sport that are unrelated to trans issues.

    Edit: in response to Ronnie

  9. Oh yeah one more thing. You might feel bad because you feel like you are letting down the colleagues that rely on that data / support. Don't. You can feel bad for the situation they're in but don't feel like it's your fault.; you're not letting them down, your management is.

  10. What you should do next depends entirely on how reasonable the people you're working for are. Doesn't sound like your confidence should be too high in that respect but you should still cover yourself by being very transparent about your capacity, saying what you think is a reasonable expectation of what you can achieve, and if that's more than the work that's there then prioritise the work and give them the opportunity to challenge your prioritisation.

If the answer is jfdi then yeah maybe go off on the sick whilst you look for a new job.

  11. Yeah I think I've voiced my opinion in this thread in the past about going to see nostalgia / past their prime acts but this one is pretty tempting. Del is the biggest draw though and I did see him with automator doing deltron when they were touring the second album so I don't think this would top that..

  12. People now going to lengths to explain why they've edited a post is really irritating me and it's all your fault bacon.

I don't need to know and it's just more to read, and generally not interesting or relevant.

Been playing the new Prince of Persia game. It's excellent! Looks beautiful, good puzzles, good combat. Really no criticisms at all; if you were a fan of the ps2 games I can't see his you would dislike it. 10/10.

Finished the main story. Loved this game. My only complaint is that I wish some of the difficult late game optional side stuff was really tough combat challenges instead of it all being puzzle / jumping challenges.

I'd like some fun ways to flex the skills I've spent the game leveling up.

All in all, actually, the combat was not that difficult. But it's really fun and fluid.

  14. Doesn't lemsip already have the equivalent of 2 paracetamol in it anyway?

Eating junk food, sleeping and excessively long hot showers are the only things that do it for me when I've got a cold.

You’ll be skipping hair colour as well I imagine…

Given that there's not a 'none' option I suppose you will too! Eyyy. I do feel aggrieved that there is both 'ginger' and 'redhead' but no option for grey.

  16. The Kitchen.

Was going in expecting this to be more of an action movie with some poignant moments or commentary to make. Instead it is a pretty miserable affair. It's not bad, but also it doesn't have that much to say and takes way too long to say it. Probably partly my fault for my expectation but still a bit of a letdown.
