  1. If festivals count then my first was the old Matthew Street Festival in Liverpool which my family used to go to every year then I’d go by myself when I was in my mid-late teens which was a fun experience going street to street seeing what local or tribute bands were on

First and only proper gig was, shamefully, Craig David purely as it was a freebie and to chaperone my sister and her friends, a colleague of my mum used to get free tickets to gigs every summer when they’d set up a tented ‘arena’ on the King’s Dock (which at one point was to be Everton’s new stadium and is now the site of the M&S Bank Arena)

  2. Not long finished the show, that ending had me shook, Roman us a proper nasty bastard isn’t he? Love that Jey had to walk away out of confliction

Men’s Rumble was good, Gunther looked a beast and is now the time record holder at 71 minutes, Cody winning was always on the cards but I’d have rather him come in earlier than 30, did Judgement Day get to Rey or did Kross do it and toss his mask to Dom?

Women’s Rumble was ok, great spotlight for Roxanne ahead of her title defence next week, Asuka going Kana mode was awesome and they gave her a new theme mix to boot, Nia Jax, why?, Chelsea looks like she’s starting the Karen gimmick that’s been rumoured, was expecting Beth to be in the match to follow the earlier encounter with Rhea, the end sequence was fun with Liv, Rhea and Asuka, the right woman won

The Pitch Black match was shite, the backlighting was a massive distraction and there was a blatant botch with Uncle Howdy’s dive

The Raw Women’s title match was woeful as well, Alexa has badly regressed since returning and Bianca’s reign has been a flop

  3. Having burned through all the 2000’s and 2010’s Rumble events that I wanted to watch, I’ve now switched attention to WCW events, started with Souled Out, with the 98, 99 and 00 shows which are very eclectic with their cards

98 has Bret Hart’s first WCW match against Flair, with his presentation still that of his WWF days with the wrap around shades and giving them away to a fan. It also has on the undercard Dusty’s heel turn on Zybysko, Jericho against Mysterio for the Cruiserweight title, a further tease of Scott Steiner’s turn during the 6 man tag with him, Rick and Boss Man against the NWO and a main event of Lex Luger vs Randy Savage

99 has the infamous ‘Loser Wears A Dress’ match between Jericho and Perry Saturn, a cracking 4 way Cruiser match between Kidman, Mysterio, Juventud and Psychosis, David Flair’s debut match teaming with Naitch v Hennig and Big Baz Windham before an uncomfortably long beat down by Hogan and co and the Stun Gun Ladder match between Scott Hall and Goldberg

2000 is memorable for the Sid/Benoit main event where the latter wins the Big Gold Belt only to walk out on the company the next night with Saturn, Malenko and Eddie for ‘New York’, Ahmed Johnson returning to wrestling looking like someone who ate Ahmed and helping Stevie Ray beat Booker down to form the forgettable Harlem Heat 2000, Kidman wrestling 3 times culminating with losing to The Wall in WCW’s take on Hell in a Cell and Big Kev beating the Funker to win the WCW Presidency

  4. Just now, Spud said:

Are these anything like Snyder’s? Can’t get them for love nor money any more (well money but lots of it) so these look very tempting.

    Essentially yes

  5. So tonight is the big 30th anniversary episode of Raw and I figured to segue from the thread, I’d look back at what happened on every milestone episode (numbered and every 5th year)

    Numbered Episodes

1st - 11/01/93 - Razor Ramon previews his upcoming title shot at the Rumble, Undertaker beats Damian Demento in the main event, Bobby Heenan tries to worm his way into the show

50th - 31/01/94 - Earthquake returns to the ring after a year out, Razor reclaims his stolen chain from IRS during the latter’s match with Marty Jannetty

100th - 27/02/95 - Lex Luger vs Tatanka is the featured match, Lawrence Taylor answers Bam Ban’s call out from the previous week

250th - 02/03/98 - Mike Tyson joins DX, Undertaker returns to officially set up the Mania match vs Kane

500th - 23/12/02 - Scott Steiner and Triple H have an arm wrestling match, Batista squashes Spike Dudley, JR and Jerry Lawler beat William Regal and Lance Storm with help from the Dudleyz

750th - 08/10/07 - Randy Orton defends the WWE title in a handicap match teaming with Umaga vs Triple H, Jeff Hardy faces Mr Kennedy

1000th - 23/07/12 - First official DX union of the Triple H/HBK version with the Outlaws and X Pac version, H brawls with Brock Lesnar, Heath Slater’s weekly legend jobbing came to and end as Lita beats him in a No DQ match aided by the likes of Sid, Vader, Animal and the APA, John Cena v CM Punk for the WWE Title ends in a Big Show DQ, Punk turns heel by clotheslining The Rock, who had come to Cena’s aid

1500th - 22/02/22 - Logan Paul is announced as Miz’s Mania partner to face the Mysterios, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens beat RK-Bro in the main event to earn a tag title shot

    Anniversary Episodes

1st Anniversary - 10/01/94 - Marty Jannetty and the 1-2-3 Kid win the Tag Titles from the Quebecers in a stunning upset

5th Anniversary - 12/01/98 - The Outlaws retain the Tag Titles in a 4 way over The Godwinns, The Headbangers and Recon and Sniper, Mark Henry turns heel on Ken Shamrock and joins the Nation

10th Anniversary - 13&14/01/03 -  the main episode, Chris Jericho wins a 4 way Over The Top challenge over Kane, RVD and Batista to pick his Rumble number, Victoria retains the Women’s Title over Trish Stratus and Jaqueline in a Hardcore match. The following night there was an awards show to celebrate 10 years of the show, The Rock gets booed for only appearing via satellite, Austin wins Superstar of the Decade but is still non grata after walking out the previous summer and the TLC match Kane wins by himself ludicrously wins Match of the Decade

15th Anniversary - 10/12/07 - celebrated a month early the show saw Jeff Hardy retain the IC title over Carlito in a ladder match, Evolution reunited to beat Rated R-KO and Umaga, Ted DiBiase ‘win’ a legends battle royal and Mr Kennedy beat Jannetty as part of his feud with HBK

20th Anniversary - 14/01/13 - John Cena beats Dolph Ziggler in a cage match, The Rock does one of his ‘concerts’ before having a pull apart brawl with Rumble opponent CM Punk

25th Anniversary - 22/01/18 - a split show to mark the quarter century which didn’t go well, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Miz won the IC title from Roman Reigns while Steve Austin got one over the McMahons one more time and Kane, Lesnar and Braun Strowman gave a preview of their triple threat Universal Title match at the Rumble. At Raw’s original home of the Manhattan Center, the crowd there were short changed by two dark matches as well as Bray Wyatt vs Matt Hardy and Gallows and Anderson vs The Revival but also got appearances from Undertaker, DX, Scott Hall, Finn Balor and Miz

  6. Drew McIntyre getting brought back to the main roster as Ziggler’s heavy with his hair slicked over his face after his solid comeback face run in NXT. Took them a good 18+ months to realise it wasn’t working so turned him face based on the reaction to him eliminating Brock and winning the 2020 Rumble

  7. Absolutely tragic news, from the very little I’ve seen, the Briscoes were a great tag team and I loved their series with FTR last year, Jay’s solo stuff was good as well and I admit I got a proper lump watching back the clip of him winning the ROH title on Twitter earlier

I read that once news came through of it, the New Day and HBK called an audible at NXT, nixed the planned comedy funeral segment with New Day and Pretty Deadly and instead had Vic and Booker do an on air tribute which was a classy touch from WWE

I can also see someone on Dynamite tonight pulling out a Jay Driller in tribute and a possible 10 bell salute from the company

  8. What I found interesting on both this show and Raw was that they are splitting the tag belts again and with logical reason, Pearce being fed up with the Bloodline running roughshot on both shows. Wether that means the Usos defending both on the same night at the Rumble or defending on on TV before or after that PLE

We know Judgement Day have a shot at the Raw ones from the gauntlet match this week and you would imagine Drew and Sheamus will win the tournament for the SD title shot unless they pull a surprise as the other teams will be Imperium, Hit Row, Legado del Fantasmo, New Day, Viking Raiders (facing Drew and Sheamus), Los Lotharios and either Sami and Solo (to protect the shot or take out the Banger Bros) or Butch and Ridge

  9. Lost in all the madness of the Vince/takeover stuff but yesterday was the official 30th anniversary of Raw, WWE themselves aren’t marking the occasion until the week of the Rumble, the 23rd, and only put out a short tweet of stills from that 1st episode yesterday to acknowledge it

  10. First console was the Commodore Amiga, was addicted to playing Lemmings and the Quavers game on it

Next was the NES, only ever played Mario Bros and Duck Hunt on it from memory

Then I dipped into the hand held scene with the OG GameBoy, Mario Land, Tetris and Soccer were the 3 games I played the most on it

Next was the original PlayStation which I got the most use out of for years as I had it chipped to get bootleg games playing mostly ISS Pro, FIFA, Rayman, Oddworld, the first Smackdown game, WCW Mayhem and others

I also had the PS2 and PS3 again to play what had now evolved to Pro Evo, FIFA, NBA Street and the WWE games

I went back to handhelds with the GameBoy Advanced and SP, the latter I got the NES design of, playing Sonic, Road to Wrestlemania and a couple of other titles

Next handheld was the PSP, I had a few games and movies for it but I mostly played the Football Manager games on it

After years of Sony consoles, I wanted to upgrade and try something different so opted for my current console, the Xbox One S, mainly for its 4K compatibility to use for 4K movies (need a remote to fully use it though)

  11. I had so many crushes over the years, first being Kylie Minogue, and ranging across so many areas of pop culture from Power Rangers (practically every pink and the odd yellow Ranger), Gladiators (Jet and Lightning awooga), music (Baby Spice, Britney, most girl bands or female members of mixed bands) and TV (Kelly from SBTB, Tiff from California Dreams, Cassidy from City Guys, Topanga)

  12. I’m making it my goal this year to finally leave Primark, I’ve threatened it for five years but everything that’s gone on in the past 4-5 months with the huge turnover in personnel, the utter incompetence of them still interviewing for Christmas temps during the midst of our Christmas trading period and the atmosphere in general has made realise it’s finally time to get out

I still want to work in the retail sector but ideally in the same ballpark hours wise as I’m on now (30 a week)

  13. Damn it no, that freaking sucks. Bloody loved DW, his enthusiasm about absolutely everything made TNA much more enjoyable than it should have been in the early years and he and Mike Tenay were genuinely at one point the best commentary team in wrestling until they needlessly turned Don heel then took him off to bring in Taz

His shilling of merch on Impact’s socials was second to none too, especially with the brown bag specials
