  1. Going to Lanzarote next Wednesday with my family, we had originally planned to go 2 years ago but things were still dodgy due to COVID but we were allowed to hold our villa booking this entire time. It’s pretty much going to be the last time me, my mum and my sister will be together abroad due to mum’s Parkinson’s and various arthritic issues so we’re determined to make the most of it

It’ll also be a better experience for my sister as she, her husband and my nieces were meant to have spent the week in Rhodes as her friend got married today but because of the issues with the wildfires they flew back on Monday on one of the escape flights after a rough couple nights

    Summerslam 96

A really crap PPV, saved by a pretty superb main event, as Shawn and Vader work a great match.

The Boiler Room Brawl is alright, and the turn at the end is great, as is the druid shit, but it must've been awful to watch live.

Hilarious that WWE seemingly put what looks like four 20" TVs around the ring for people to watch.

The rest of the card is terrible, so thank god for Shawn Michaels.

Yeah the mid 90s run of Summerslams aren’t great but have 1-2 good matches to save it from being truely awful

    95 has the HBK/Razor rematch

96 as you mentioned has HBK/Vader

97 is bookended by the Mankind/Triple H cage match and Bret/Taker

  3. Some of the Mattel reveals at SDCC for the WWE lines have been spectacular for how much deep diving they’re doing, for instance Racist Terry is not only getting an exclusive 3 stages figure set as well as different Hollywood figures and a new Hasbro-style retro, we’re also getting late 70s/early 80’s longer hair ‘Incredible’ Hulk in the Remco AWA tribute line and a black trunks Japan version Hulk as well

Also there’s elite figures for Fake Diesel and the Sultan, a Hart Foundation two pack in their newer Colliseum Collection line which has both the iconic Tag Tag designs but also the version that predates those belts and a box set of Rock, his dad Rocky and a first time figure of the High Chief Peter Maivia

  4. I wonder if the family will be there finally this time? With it being MSG and all. Either way I’m expecting Sami to be a witness and have Jey corpse again, KO to go on a mad rant and it to end with one or both Usos making the title challenge for Summerslam

Just catching up with Money In The Bank and am I the only one who noticed Growly McGrowlerson announcing Bayley as being part of Judgment Day?

You can understand her flub, given Rhea was flirting with her every night on the tour running up to MITB

On that note, Kel from Keenan and Kel is very definitely alive, and not dead like I've been told many times in schoolyards and pubs.

Not only that but he and Keenan are working on a sequel to Good Burger with most of the old cast

  7. Watched Mission Impossible for the first time last night as it was on Film4, don’t know how I’ve managed to never see any of the series before as I proper enjoyed it, just a fun popcorn flick with Cruise doing some incredible stunts

Think I may have to look into getting all the films on BluRay now, if that’s the standard

Wouldn't an issue with Tottenham and West Ham stadiums being used be that it would take place in season

I guess both could be ensured to play away that weekend but its still a big turnaround and if one of them had a European home game midweek in between that wouldn't be quite so easy to move around.

It's why Wrestlemania tends to be at NFL Stadiums and the Royal Rumble at Baseball stadiums or non NFL used Stadiums.

If it ever happened it'll be Wembley though surely

If they did use Wembley then they’d have to break with the new tradition and move the FA Cup semis to neutral venues which I couldn’t see the FA going for

  9. Un fucking believable show from start to finish, it could have fell off a cliff with Priest beating the overwhelming choice of LA Knight to the men’s case but it stayed molten all night from Shayna’s turn on Rousey to Drew’s return to Big Match John’s surprise appearance to Iyo winning the women’s case to Cody and Seth’s entrances and culminating with that finish

It has to be Jey and Roman in the Summerslam main event now surely after that?

  10. Issues with streams aside, missed the Asuka/Charlotte match and post match shenanigans, that episode absolutely flew by, even more so than when I watch it on a catch up stream on Saturday afternoons

It will be the biggest crime since not putting the titles on Cody at Mania, if they don’t have LA Knight win the MITB case tomorrow, man was massively over tonight

Lovely show ender brawl between the family, that BloodLine tag is going to be nuclear tomorrow, Roman looked very rattled at the thought of Solo usurping him

I don't like that, at all. The edges of the sleeves and collar are like someone doing a GCSE textiles project.

It’s based on the Leitch pattern dotted around Goodison, the GK shirt has a similar nod to St Luke’s church in the corner of the ground between the Gwladys Street and Main Stand

Noticed the live broadcast on BT Sports is only 1 hour 45 minutes.  Guessing that’s so they can add in 15 mins of extra adverts when it’s shown in America a few hours later.

I’m surprised WWE or BT haven’t made more of a deal about the fact it’s the first time one of the TV tapings has aired live as it happens over here instead of airing on tape delay

  13. One observation I noticed watching Punk’s entrance at the PPV, all 3 of his matches since returning, he’s wore all 3 stages of his career in ring gear

The first episode of Collision he wore the long pants associated with the bulk of his AEW run

The 8 man on Saturday he wore trunks, synonymous with his WWE run

Sunday he wore the long shorts that were a staple of his Indy/ROH career

  14. Only up to the 10 man, owing to trying to get a working stream and switching between my TV and laptop, but it’s been a fun show

I got a kick out of it last year as well but I love the contrast having Justin Roberts (and Dasha oddly for the Punk/Kojima match) and Takuro Shibata doing the ring announcing, hearing a lot of the AEW talent being announced in the Japanese style that haven’t before like Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, Daniel Garcia etc is really cool

On JB, they pulled the trigger on his heel turn and it totally worked, especially happening with Taz on commentary trying to juggle staying professional with going into Dad mode

Of the remaining matches, I know the results but I’m looking forward to the Omega/Osprey and Danielson/Okada matches and seeing a clearer video of the Final Countdown entrance for Danielson

  15. 3 new matches were added to the Buy In for tonight’s PPV, taking the total card to 14 matches

Mogul Embassy (Swerve and Gates of Agony) vs Roppongi Vice and El Desperado

    Stu Grayson vs El Phantasmo

United Empire (Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher and TJP) vs Los Ingobernables de Japon (Shingo Takagi, Bushi and Hiromu Takahashi)

What are usually considered the best ten man tags of all time? Canadian Stampede? That Raw main event in February 2000 with The Rock, Cactus Jack and Too Cool vs DX and the Radicalz? I’m sure there’s loads I’m forgetting.

I ask because the talent in the ten-man scheduled for this show is absolutely fucking insane. I assume they won’t try to steal the show on a card with Danielson vs. Okada and Omega vs. Ospreay, but Good Lord! Look at this beauty!

    IMG_5124.thumb.jpeg.94443f1a018101c1e6e8f0982077e906.jpeg

The two Elite/BCC matches we’ve had have been very good so adding Umino, Takeshita, Eddie and Ishii to the mix and it’s going to be an absolute barnburner

It appears Punk v. KENTA at Forbidden Door was the plan. With KENTA attacking after the main event to set it up. Couldn't come to terms so it didn't happen. The rumours of Punk turning up on Dynamite is potentially to get an alternative in place.

Tanahashi maybe if they keep up the ‘MJF hates New Japan’ angle

  19. Looking like a decent card so far

    World Heavyweight Title

    Seth Rollins vs Finn Balor

Men’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Butch vs Ricochet vs Shinsuke Nakamura vs Damian Priest vs LA Knight vs Santos Escobar

Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match

Becky Lynch vs Zoey Stark vs Zelina Vega vs Bayley vs Iyo Sky vs ??

    Cody Rhodes vs Dominik Mysterio

With potentially Roman Reigns vs Jimmy Uso for the Undisputed Title, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens vs the gauntlet match winners for the tag titles, Riddle vs Gunther for the IC title
