  1. "Gang Related" with James Belushi and, in his last film role, Tupac Shakur. Both play cops who shoot dead an undercover D.E.A. officer thinking he was a drug dealer. Both fit up this hobbo for the crime. Belushi turns heel and kills Tupac and everybody connected with the crime. Tupac is decent enough playing the face cop. The suprise when Belushi finds out 2Pac is wearing a wire is tremendous.Decent enough film. (***/*****)

The title of the thread is "DVD's and Films You Have Watched Recently" not "DVD's and Films You Have Spoiled For People Who Haven't Seen Them recently".
  2. I know the CZW stuff sagged in the middle, but the blow off in the CoD is immense. I had no idea that ROH could ever book something so close to perfectly. Look forward to it.

Agreed. While I just about preferred the 100th show main event the Cage Of Death was still incredible. Eddie Kingston's entrance is easily one of my favorites moments in ROH this year, the way the crowd reacts to Hero saying "I don't have an ace up my sleeve...I've got a king of diamonds!" and the HUGE heat Eddie gets in the ring. I was just dissappointed he didn't get to do more in the match. Kingston is easily the most under-rated wrestler out there in the US.
  3. V For Vendetta is one of the best made movies in a long time. You're obviously one of those bitter people who hates anything they love being made into a movie.

Fuck off, you idiot. I stated that aslong as the movie had the correct atmosphere, got the message of the book and characters correct the plot could have been completely different for all I care as that would have actually given a reason for the film to even have been made. But instead it was a poorly acted, soul-lessly directed and terribly written piece of shit. There was no "best-made" about it. It had no message, no heart and no intelligence. You're obviously one of those stupid people who instead of having a logical discussion just makes idiotic comments.
  4. I watched V For Vendetta last night and it was absolutely terrible. The Wachowski's claim to be huge fans of the book but seem to have completely no idea on what made it good and show no understanding of the characters of V or Evey, the themes of the story and the actual whole point of it. In place they have absolutely terrible acting, ridiculous and boring dialogue (which is completely insane as they could have just copied it straight out the book and it would have been fine but instead changed all the best lines), the OST adds nothing to the film whatsoever, the directing is completely cold and heartless, they make pointless, nonsensical storyline changes and because it's set in England everyone has completely embarrassing cliche English accents and say "Bloody hell" and "bollocks" in almost every line. And I'm not just some fanboy who takes the comic so seriously I would never like the movie, if the movie just got the central themes, atmosphere and characters of the comic book correct then they could change the plot however they liked and I would have been happy as long as it was a well-acted and well-directed piece of film making. This is not. Stay away.

  5. The last 20 minutes of the documentary deal with Raab Himself's alcholism and the crew's real feelings towards each other amazing candidly (as usual Bam comes across as a bit of a dick, especially towards Raab's drink problem and Ryan Dunn comes across as a really nice down to earth guy). The last ten mins of the documentary deal with a friend (who is an infrequent CKY member) trying to kick heroin whilst staying at the Magera household with the crew - and a caring unitary side of gang (espcially Ape and Ryan) really comes across - a startling gem in an otherwise dull DVD.

I don't agree with all your thoughts on the movie but agree with this. The making of documentary is very good. The last 10 minutes is about Brandon Novak, he is off heroin now and is a regular on Bam's radio. This segment is really well done and quite sad, especially as Novak is lying to Ryan Dunn about how we just went into the woods for a cigerette and doesn't even have heroin who is torn between helping his friend and anger that his friend is lying to him and Dynn forces him to empties his pockets, sees heroin and throws him into the wall. And Deron Miller's acoustic piece "Behind The Screams" is perfect for it. While I think Bam comes across as a cock alot of the time, the fact that he personally takes care of his drug-addicted friend from the age of 14 shows that perhaps there is a side of him away from the cameras which isn't a complete smug arsehole.
  6. I saw Sympathy For Lady Vengeance the other night and was suprised the director of Oldboy (one of the best films of the past 5 years) turned out such a ridiculously shite movie. I found nothing that I liked in this convulted, dull and ridiculous piece of crap. There was no scene, no acting, not even one line of dialogue that I found anything more than mediocre.Avoid this like the plague.I also bought Deadwood Season 1 on DVD too and it's ridiculously fucking brilliant. Took a few episodes to get into but soon enough I was hooked. Similiar to The Sopranos it is filled with amazing acting, incredibly well scripted and superbly directed. I don't honestly see how anyone couldn't like it.

  7. Definitive 'Nam movie?Full Metal Jacket.

Not really. The training part is excellent but the film isn't anything special after that. And the fact it's filmed in London Docklands kinds of takes the realism away from it.I'd say Apocolypse Now, because even thought it isn't the most realistic of war movies the complete insanity and sensless violence is completely engrossing.
  8. Mind if I ask why you disliked it so much..?

I just thought that everything bar the fight scenes was poor. The dialogue was embarrassing at times (particularly Wolvie's cheeky quips), the story was wafer thin and the acting was so basic. But then it was a film made with the younger generation in mind so I shouldn't really have been expecting too much from it.
I saw this Saturday night, and again yesterday to give it a second chance and I still find it very very dissapointing. First thing I found is they handled the death of Cyclops very poorly. As they didn't show him dying, and this being a super hero film, I didnt believe the character had been killed off, as I kept expecting him to return at sometime during the film. For a character this important to X-Men, he should have been given a more specific clear death, which made it clear that he was dead.
    Spoilers, asshole.
  9. Well, the idea of the project was to watch every show this year and review it, then see if I still liked wrestling. So if I watch the show I have to watch it all and I have to write about it...Which is horrible sometimes :(

Don't be insane man! Nobody can watch that many pointless fatal four ways and come out anything but a dribbling vegetable. It's suicide!
