In general though, in this day the performance art of professional wrestling should have it's own completely unique name/term that entirely separates it from legitimate combat sports.

    Do you mean "professional wrestling"?

Oh yeah its nitpicky and I wasnt intentionally being pedantic but I see so many people say they no longer watch WWE to only then complain about current WWE

I was only confused because a distinction had clearly been made between watching Bits and clips as he said about AEW and NXT and not watching any at all as he said about WWE

Why not say "I've seen bits and clips of WWE" then

How long do you have to watch something for it to move from havent seen any at all to having seen Bits and Clips?

As I said it's just me being pedantic and dosnt matter really.

As I say, I haven't watched a full WWE show in a very long time. However, I do have a group of friends who enjoy wrestling, and one or two of them still enjoy WWE, so the group chat has a bit of WWE talk. If they say something is worth checking out, for good or bad reasons, I'll take a look. But I don't watch WWE. Do I know the context or backstory of the things I see? Not at all. But Rey's fake eyeball and the swamp match (which I watched in its entirety, because a friend said it was good - I might cancel that friendship) were terrible and I don't need to be clued up on all things WWE to know that.

    Not really no

You specifically singled out NXT and AEW as the 2 shows you watch Bits and Clips from whilst making sure to say you hadnt seen any WWE for months.

Ignoring the fact NXT is WWE still anyway why state you hadnt seen ANY WWE in months if you have then?

That's hella nitpicky. Much like @Snitsky's back acne, I haven't watched any more than a couple of clips of things that might interest me (most of the time being left disappointed) from WWE in a very long time. I couldn't tell you the last time I watched a full WWE show. To me, that would mean I haven't watched WWE in a long time.

I also haven't watched Only Fools and Horses in a while. I don't bring up the "Vot is your nam?" clip I watched the other day, cos that would be nitpicky.

I guess I don't really watch AEW to watch two ex-WWE guys go at it unless they're going to do something substantially different.

Do you watch WWE to watch two former Evolve wrestlers go at it, or two former PWG/RoH/NJPW guys? If that WWE stench is the reason you can't enjoy a match between two fairly talented wrestlers, then the problem isn't with the wrestlers. Maybe it's with the presentation, and AEW is too similar to WWE in the way that it's shown?

Either way, it's only going to continue. AEW won't be able to become 'big time' without at least a couple of big name jumps from WWE, IMO. So ex-WWE guys are going to be popping up more and more in the future.

For me, and I don't know if it's him or just me but Moxley is infinitely more interesting in New Japan than he is in AEW.

It might just be a fish out of water situation where he stands out more in that environment but Moxley facing off against Suzuki, Ishii fucking hell, even Yano, felt like events in the G1.

For me, this comes down to the style of wrestling and presentation. Moxley, with his western background, going east to Japan was interesting because I wanted to see how he would do in that environment. It's a different game in NJPW, with so much being told in the ring, as opposed to around it or backstage, as we were used to with Ambrose/WWE.

Jericho was the same. After so long in WCW/WWE, how was he going to fair in Japan? And then the opposite (which has so far been a bit of a dud), how does Kenny Omega fit into the US presentation of wrestling?

On the Moxley/Cage note, I'm in the minority that hopes Cage takes the title, or takes a DQ win, at least. I've been a fan of his since Lucha Underground, and I like the Taz pairing. Take the title off Moxley for a short time, keep the Cage momentum rolling for a while, and have Moxley win it for the second time a ways into next year.

AEW has been treading water for what seems like a long time now. Hopefully, when/if they get back into a paid audience environment, we'll see some of the better stuff like they were putting out in Jan/Feb.

WWE also said "OR" if they have sufficient evidence. Such as filming yourself asking a fan to bring their "slutty friends" for a "hot wet lay".

In other words and arrest is auto suspension / firing, but WWE still have a right to kick you out if there is video / photos of you being a dingus.

Makes enough sense. I didn't see much about Chris Roberts. I assume it was allegations that he admitted to?

The way ratings are measured is soo small and out of date in how it’s done it really surprises me how much it’s broken down in general chats  about whether a show was a good watch or not. Especially when most of here know there’s many watching through non live tv means.

This is, to an extent, my view also. Dynamite is offered through various avenues, as is much of WWE programming, and so live television ratings aren't the big thing they were in 1998-2001.

However, it does kinda put a spotlight on the general interest in the product, and it's quite fun to see who wins the 'Wednesday Night War' on a battle by battle basis.

AEW, to me, for the most part, has been the most enjoyable wrestling television show put out since Lucha Underground. It's my jam. It has bit and pieces that are of less interest to me, but overall, I think the product is better than anything else being offered.

That opinion will differ from person to person, but a dip in television ratings won't stop people watching it in whichever way they watch it.

  8. Speaking to a very, very casual wrestling fan friend yesterday and he mentioned the sexual assault stuff briefly, before saying "Who's the guy in AEW? Orange? I love that guy! He's SOOOOO good"

Like @Supremo, I'm shocked if people aren't on board with OC. If my friend who couldn't tell you who any current mainstream champions are loves him, and gets it, that's all I need to know.

Edit - sexual assault not related to OC. It was just how the conversation of wrestling came about.

  9. I've read that Tessa's release has more to do with her ignoring TNA requests (for promos etc, as she's stuck in Mexico) than the SpeakingOut stuff.

    Wrestletalk -

"Tessa Blanchard has not appeared on IMPACT since shows were not allowed to have fans. However, unlike other acts like The North, Blanchard had not appeared in any video packages either.

PWInsider is also reporting that she was supposed to have sent in some footage for a promo for the June 1, 2020 edition of their AXS show, but they never got the footage."

Ricky Knight's done a video - 40 minutes long, so there was no way I watched all of that. Skipped in and out to some key bits.

Is there a TLDR/W? Or a link to the video? I assume it's public?

When I began working in psychiatric units, I was surprised by the number of people self-admitting due to their attraction for underage people. The disgust they felt for their own paedophilic desires overcame the wish to act out on those desires, and allowed them to seek support in managing this. So, while you're correct to some degree, not all indulge in pederasty, which is certainly the greater crime.

I had a friend who admitted having these desires. A few people wanted nothing to do with him, believing he'd nonced it up, others encouraged him to get help. He went and got help. He was so distraught by his own thoughts.

I don't know what he's doing nowadays. We drifted apart as friends. Hopefully he's managing, and not in any trouble.

Yeah I’m seeing a lot of that, and a lot of ‘friends’ of the accused saying ‘they’re nice to me, they didn’t do this’.

I don’t doubt a lot of these people are nice day to day, but equally there’s clearly something very wrong in professional wrestling where it comes to psychological, physical and sexual abuse. The boundaries seem to be in a different place to the world outside the bubble - at least I hope that’s the case because the alternative is too depressing to comprehend.

Absolutely. And I get that the Knight lad wants to defend his mum's honour, but really? His whole rant makes him look like an utter knob.

I think you're right, in boundaries being seemingly different. It doesn't make it right though. It needs to change, as evidenced by the #SpeakingOut movement.

Side note - Thanks for sharing your story. I hope you're doing ok. Don't let the dickheads get you down.

  13. All this "remember how we cleaned you up when you pissed yourself" and "we put you on the right train" just screams "we did nice/decent stuff for you, so stop telling everyone about our shitty behaviour".

    So ridiculous.

Disgusting language from Sammy Guevara. Probably a turn of phrase rather than genuine desire but sickening and unhelpful. Needs addressing publicly by the company and a genuine apology from SG himself.

I don't think I've ever said I wanted to rape someone as a turn of phrase. He could have said "Sasha Banks...man she's hot". Rape? Come on, there's literally no need for that.

What's expected and what's done aren't always the same in my experience, and some companies would use any loophole available to avoid dealing with an issue like drug rehabilitation of a member of its staff.

To that there is little doubt. I wasn't ready to cause any further issues or have anything thrown my way for not dealing with the situation "properly", though. The employee left after a short time, either way.

I'm not defending AEW's stance. I think it's ridiculous that they'd even word something to be seen as showing support for Havoc in light of the allegations made, but they are (for now) just allegations, he has gone to rehab, and there's not a lot more AEW can do, I don't think.

This has been mentioned to me a few times. Absolutely fair enough. Is it fair AEW worded him such initial support?

I've never suggested he should be fired (I'm sure he will be?),  but the wording of the statement bothers me.

I don't know if they're just playing ball for legality sake. The law states that he can't be fired for reasons relating to his addiction, which I assume is some level of drugs and alcohol. I'm no expert, but if he's claimed he did things because of mental issues and addictions, they can't fire him, right? Regardless of the situation? I think the blessing here is that he's off our screens for the time being, the investigations (if there are any) will happen whilst he's off screen, and if they let him go once he's done with rehab, so be it.

Side note - When I ran my previous business, I was told by an employee that they would no-show their shifts due to drink and drug issues. From that point on, I was expected (by a HR firm) to show full support to their rehabilitation. That's here in the UK, but I could imagine it being similar to the Florida law?

  17. It's Florida law that he can't be fired whilst in rehab, and he entered rehab voluntarily. AEW might be in a bit of legal shit if they even suggest they plan to fire him. I should imagine, once his rehab is done, he'll be gone. I'm by no means a fan, I think he's awful, and if the allegations are true, he's an even worse person.

It's shocking that it takes this kind of thing for someone to realise they have a problem, and to get help, especially when they've been handed such an incredible opportunity.

  18. Basically, Allie started showing up around QT, then in the stands distracting him during his matches, standing with him in the "crowd" during AEW shows.

As far as I know, that's the extent of the story. I think they've thrown it together to give QT something else, besides an apple, but it doesn't work unless it has some kind of story. Maybe it's the beginning of QT choosing Allie over Dustin, turning heel? I don't know.
