Broforce is only £2.55, and it’s great fun - particularly in co-op. It’s a fast-paced old school run ‘n’ gun game, and I loved it despite not having much nostalgia for that genre.

Not a Hero is £3.35. It’s a bit of a weird one to explain as far as the plot goes, but gameplay wise it’s basically a 2D Hotline Miami. I played the absolute shit out of it when it first came out on the PS4, and at that price I’ll be playing the shit out of it again on my Steam Deck. It’s loads of fun.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is, to me, the very definition of an overlooked gem. It’s only £2.99 right now. The game is co-written by Alex Garland (the guy behind Ex Machina, Annihilation and Men) and as a result has a very strong story. I guess it’s essentially a hack ‘n’ slash game, although that description in itself does it a bit of a disservice. It’s also quite short, meaning it’s potentially a great ‘palate cleanser’ between some of the games you’ve already bought. It works great on the Deck, so you’ll have no issues there.

I've been enjoying Broforce on my Switch. It's a lot of fun, and all the little characters you unlock through the game are well done.

  2. Yeah, if he keeps trying to deflect it'll all come back on him in a "why does he keep trying to divert attention over there" sense, or it would if people weren't so blindly devoted to him.

  3. I don't know whether it belongs in this thread, but I finally finished the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off anime on Netflix this morning. I like how it goes in a completely different direction to the movie, which is also wildly different from the comic, but with plenty of references to them both. It's great in that it explores the characters a lot deeper, and the cast from the movie is in it as well. It also gets delightfully meta and self-referential  a little nod to Edgar Wright and his little cinematic universe, and heaps of videogame and anime easter eggs. Anyway, if you like the books and/or the movie it's definitely worth a watch. Anamanaguchi's soundtrack is good as well.

  4. It was very rainy and windy yesterday, I almost thought I might have had to put long pants on, but it's still mild enough that I could wear shorts. It's definitely calmer so far today. Interestingly we have a book on the pub "library" bookcase by an author called Gerritsen, which is either Scandinavian, or a Chas & Dave b-side.

  5. Not a gig, per se, but this is Iris: A Space Opera, the Justice movie based on them performing a truncated version of their Woman Worldwide live set from the time. I remember going to see it at the cinema when it was out. Some of the visuals are pretty special, especially with how reflective they get all those shiny stones on the floor. I also love when Valentine (the cross that used to be onstage during their first twotours) turns up for the stuff from their first album. Lovely bit of nostalgia for me.

A tenth of the UK population tried to get tickets for Oasis at Knebworth in 1996. To put it into perspective, 3% tried to get tickets for Taylor Swifts Eras tour.

I bet numerically they're pretty similar amounts, which is why they'll have used percentages to make the Oasis number look bigger.

Edit @SuperBaconall it takes is one decent Christmas single and you're pretty much set. You can probably retire off of a Christmas album. Hanson did two.

  7. Watched the Christmas special earlier. It was fine, but I think could have benefitted from being 90 minutes. It felt a bit rushed. Ncuti Gatwa is so cool as the Doctor, and looks like he's having a great time, and Ruby Sunday looks like she'll be an interesting character. Some interesting stuff has been set up for the coming series, but it felt a little rushed. Rumour has it Stephen Moffat has written one of the episodes for the forthcoming series as well, which could be good.

Untitled Goose Game is terrific fun! It's quite short but arseing around a wee village as a goose getting into all sorts of mischief is far more entertaining than it has any right to be.

It's one of the first games I picked up on Switch and I loved every minute of it. Some of the stuff I'd do again and again just because I found it so funny to do, and the hidden task list as well. Such a wonderful game.

Just woke up to the realisation that for “shock for shocks sake” it could be Sting.

If the Devil was wearing a Sting mask, then it'd obviously be Sting, but I don't think he'd disguise himself as somebody else.

The name on the contract says McMahon..

    Stephanie?

  10. Just done my annual birthday viewing of Scott Pilgrim Vs The World (I am totally in lesbians with that movie), and as incredible as Mary Elizabeth Winstead is as Ramona Flowers, Alison Pill is lovely as Kim Pine as well. I totally forgot that she played Agnes Jurati in Picard, too, or at least I didn't make that association.
