  1. That's what put me off going back to Bloodstock for so long, elitists moaning that a band wasn't tr00e metal! And this is back when it was a predominantly power metal festival. You get them everywhere, and there's no point getting wound up by them cos that's what they want.

Hellfest in France have released their 2015 lineup

  2. I wasn't one of them for the record, I couldn't give two hoots about them either way.

It says something that Download can attract an act as big as Muse for their festival (didn't they headline Glastonbury one year?), but people will always see a vaguely mainstream act as some kind of invader.

If they don't want to see Muse, stop bitching and go watch someone else

  3. I've just realised,

Download 2013: Friday headliners - Slipknot (Main), Black Stone Cherry (2nd)

I know we said before about Slipknot doing a favour due to Pearl Jam pulling out, but that is fucking ridiculous

  4. It's the eqivalant of the 'Buttscratcher!' Shout at festivals. No rhyme or reason for it (I know that Buttscratcher is a Family Guy reference) but it's usually just done for people to amuse themselves. If your not shouting/chanting random shit at wrestling shows these days, it seems that your doing it wrong

  5. I remember Vodaphone announcing Pearl Jam but with Slipknot then being announced so soon afterwards figured it was just that Vodaphone had got it wrong rather than being a replacement. It wasn't a bad show from Slipknot but any means, but the lack of new material after headlining in 2009 defiantly brought it down a bit.

Like I say you've got to take what's available, as wasn't that the year that Van Halen "cancelled" their European dates, which seemed to include every major festival going.

    Au,

I hadn't even thought of BMTH to be honest, but BFMV had been in the subhead line spot a couple of years previously and I think 2013 would have been a good time to test the water with them as the headline act, rather than booking them as the sub headliner again

  6. But that's X Factor, a shallow TV show full mostly of people desperate for fame at any cost that they can exploit. Sure, they'll uncover the odd person with some modicum of talent, but the whole premise is someone wins a bit of fame for a year and then we replace them the next year with a fresh batch of numpties

And going back to what we were saying about the ITV execs who commissioned it, turns out it was a woman

  7. Slipknot again, doing the Def Lappard 'back after two years' deal? At least this time they have a new album to do stuff from, but makes you wonder could they have booked someone else in 2013 so that we didn't get the mediocre slipknot set that we did.

Obviously it depends who is available, but I think 2013 would have been a great to try Bullet For My Valentine as a headliner. Whilst I'm not a fan myself, you can't deny that they have a massive following and, outside of the heritage acts, are probably the biggest name in British metal in the modern day
