Been watching a few of the old UFC PPVs on Fightpass. Have a few questions.

 

1. When did they change from the tournament format?

2. What early ones should I be checking out?

UFC 9 didn't have a tournament, but they did then go back it at UFC 10 and kept it until UFC Brazil: Ultimate Brazil (16/10/98, sometimes know as UFC 17.5) and just switched to standard cards from then on. UFC 12 & 13 had two separate tournaments for different weight classes and UFC 14-17 just had the one tournament in a specific weight class, I.e not a 200lb kick boxer vs 450 lb sumo

 

Another obvious cut is Sid at Sin 2001. One moment he’s knocking Jarrett and Steiner about, it cuts to Warrior arriving in a limo, then it cuts back to the ring with him laid on his back, his legs pointing in different directions.

I'm sure that's the way it was aired originally. The actual footage of Sid snapping his leg was shown on Nitro the night after.

That's right, I've got a rip of the live broadcast and yeah you don't actually see the leg break happen. One second he's kicking arse, cut to the back were a limo pulls up with a masked Road Warrior Animal, then cut back to the ring where is rolling around like a wood louse

Anyone reckon they'll switch the belt again with it being the first show on the new network?

Taking "any role she can" is a bit of a misnomer. She's had a steady movie career for two decades now, it's not she's on her arse or 'needs' the work. Dodgy choices maybe, but if its a case of filming for five weeks on a crap comedy and getting paid decent money for it, why wouldn't she

Going to the previous point about how they can get it so right in NXT and not the main show, I think it comes down purely to the number of people on the writing team. NXT's writing team is a lot more streamlined than the main shows. Wasn't it reported recently that RAW has 20 writers?

Yeah they did. They did something similar to some who tried to start a CM Punk chant not too long ago.

Doesn't stop them chanting "better than Batista" at some some no hoper though

Justis Mustaine (yep, Dave's son is named Justis, for fucks sake) uploaded footage of an undisclosed drummer practising with Dave Ellefson.

Could be nothing, could be a new guy who they don't want to reveal yet, but he is playing a kit with 'Peace Sells...But Whose Buying' designs which has led to speculation about Gar Samuelson. Nick Menza has also said he "would rule out" a return

 

Also, Enslaved, Korpiklaani and Pro-Pain all added to Bloodstock

Absolute blinder of a show once again. These NXT specials this year have been a real brethe of fresh air.

Loved Owens debut, haven't seen any of his work for years (since around 2007 I think) and popped major for his dive. Took a nasty shot to the mush and busted CJ Parker's hand open

 

Balor seems to have completely eclipsed Itami, seems to be far more over with the crowd.

I'm suprised that Baron Corbin is as over as he is with the NXT-work rate hard on audience. His matches being as short as they are are either a great way booking as a monster or he's green as grass.

 

Oh yeah, and Roman Reigns got booed. I expect a full on spaz from the Royal Rumble crowd when he wins. Have him eliminate Ziggler to win it for maximum effect

He looks like he should be on 70s Blue Peter.

ah righty. Either way i'm chuffed with it so far. Gave it a try on my iPhone too and it works on there no bother. Going to catch up on what I've missed throughoout this year and then delve into the archive a bit

Currently watching the Okada/Styles match from Wrestling Dontaku.

As I don't have a chrome cast or anything of that ilk, I'll have to make do watching on the TV through an RGB cable.

I know it mentioned about an app on PS3, but could I not theoretically just watch through the browser on there?

In a word, yes.

 

Needless to say, there's a lot of dem moaning that we may not get Undertaker/Sting and trying to spin it on HHH thinking he's a bigger main event that Taker and that's he's getting the Sting match. Only net fans could moan about the possibility of Wyatt/Undertaker and HHH/Sting

- As noted, WWE recently added The Undertaker to WrestleMania 31 promotional material, including a newly painted tour bus.

 

The current plan is for Taker to face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31. That is still dependent on Taker telling WWE he will be working the show but he has not done so as of this week.

 

Even if Taker doesn’t wrestle, the idea is to use him in some form at WrestleMania because he’s still under contract with a seven figure guarantee.

Pick of the bunch is the OSW lads though, really enjoy them. They're starting a new timeline in the new year, interested to see what they end up doing.

Best but I ever heard was one trying to explain the rules of the royal rumble (think it's the RR92 episode) and Mr OOC in his deadpan voice quips "30 men, every 90 seconds? There'd be thousands of them"

They've brought the release of Uptown Funk forward 5 weeks as this version was near the top of iTunes. Wife watches it and I see it when I take my eyes of whatever I'm reading. Even by X Factor standards this year seems to have been truely terrible. Some 8 member boyband, some guy who looks like he has Crouzon syndrome, a stageschool brat who keeps gfetting a dancing gig for her stageschool brother and some guy who ended on I'm A Celebrity who couldn't carry a tune if you gave him a bucket who'd failed in some past series

Tuesday Night Titans is to start going up this Wednesday apparently. The first episode will feature Roddy Piper v Ivan Putski. I don't if that was the first Titans episode, but it's going to be the first on the network

Speaking of RVD, isn't he due back again soon? I know he's done fuck all worthwhile since coming back from TNA but I reckon he could show up in the rumble

Bloodstock is certainly a festival on the grow and that is reflected in the bands they are now able to book. Like I said yesterday they'll book bands that can sell a certain number of tickets and certain fans can seem to accept that bands from niche sub-genres are not going to do that. I'd have thought that Judas Priest would have been a strong possibility coming off of a strong new album. Yes, they are playing Download in the June but they could have done both.

But you're always going to get those so-called fans who are determined to find something to complain about
